It looks like eye contact, but I think it's actually just "Cat brain in drinking mode, not aware of what eyes are doing, fully focused on making tongue go blep blep blep blep"
Interesting Fact: Most cats are lactose intolerant in the exact same way people are, but not all of them. However, just like people: they still really want dairy products even if it makes them sick afterwards.
Not saying anything about this cat in particular, I do not know what kind of milk that is, if it even is milk, and I do not know if that cat is lactose intolerant. I just learned that all those cartoons from when I was a kid lied to be about cats and milk when I adopted mine. I feel like a lot of people probably give their cats really bad stomach cramps because of them.
It's pretty clear if you watch to the end. Ceasing to watch at 20-30 seconds in and/or skimming through it on fast forward means you'd probably miss it, but yeah -- I had that optical illusion at first too thinking that was a lot of milk to waste (most cats won't be able to even put a dent in a milk container of that size in one sitting) ... but then saw that it was clearly water when the camera got super-close.
Cats are predators and watch threats, turning your back on someone or even just looking away is a sign of trust.
Showing their stomach or lying on their back is a sign of great trust and feeling absolutely safe in their environment.
when you watch a cat carefully or worse yet hold eye contact you are effectively telling it you consider it a threat. when you ignore it you are showing trust, hence non cat people or even those with allergies occasionally ending up with cats in their lap.
there's a few shows like 'my cat from hell' that talk about cat behaviour and how to relate to them as well as manage them and their environment.
once you've got to the point your cat appears to ignore you, look up the 'slow blink'.
PSA: No, it's not milk, it's water, so you can stuff your milk puns away -- they don't fit here. You can tell if you watch until past midway in the video, as the camera angle changes.
Most cats hide the fact they are plotting to off their humans. Not this one lol
Just keeping watch over the human, incase of sudden death. Kitty gonna be the first to eat those delectable, salty eyes.
It is the most accurate description of what cats are.
😂
Lost in those sweet murdery day dreams

Better than the SCHWEP SCHWEP SCHWEP! Cats. They make a mess.
It tough it was that they're looking at you because you can look out for predators while they drink/poop.
this feel more like r/funny

I think it’s clear water in a white container
Yeah, I can't tell on my screen. It just reminded me of the cartoon lies. It is why I stressed that I was not talking about this cat.
Only really obvious when the camera zooms in. I thought it was cream at first too.

I did not skim, but I did stop watching at 15 second (right before it apparently zoomed in) because I thought I had watched almost all of it lol.
Still, regardless of its non-milk status, I was just complaining about the trope.

'tis water 💧🌊 (not milk 🥛) that the cat drinks, though...watch longer than 30 seconds or so of the video, and the truth is made known.

Mmmmmmm! This is a tasty burger! Do you mind if I have some of your tasty beverage to wash this down?
It's not even my cat and I feel like I've fucked up somehow.
My cat did not like the sound of this clip. He looked very angry at my phone 🤣🤣
He’s in the zone….

Cats always do things like this with their eyes. They're just very 👁️👁️ in general.
Maybe it forgot how to blink?
