Looking for recommendations for a dog trainer, 3 year old neutered male Vizsla.
Has fear issues, mostly with males and anyone coming into his space. it has come on slowly and has now gotten worse as he snapped at my brother but not bitten anyone and really really want to keep everyone and him safe.
We are open to home visit behaviourists or the trainers that take them for a few weeks.
We’re afraid for his future and we love him so dearly, so please only comments that helpful and respectful.

Good on you for looking for help before it becomes a bigger issue. I recommend Canine Connect, Clodagh and Olivia are brilliant and have plenty of experience with vizslas.

Always recommend Irish Working Dog college - Tara and Ciaran are unreal. Tried another before and just wasn’t a good fit, tried day cares and they ended up too stimulated from other dogs. Finally got onto the lads in IWDC and it’s made a huge difference.

If you want the dog to trust you , spend time walking talking , tight leash first ,stop start ,tell it to sit ,show the dog what you expect and gradually over time loosen the leash and when their is no tension and the dog will ,sit ,walk stay, the dog will be your companion for life . If you are not prepared to spend the time to respect and learn to trust the dog ,and pay some other fucker to do it then you shouldn't have a dog and somewhere down the line you are asking for trouble.
He knows all of that, he walks really well on the lead, great recall, does his commands. But he’s frightened of strangers. this matter is separate.
