Usually I can get these to flip but man. My brain is not having it. No amount of arguing or squinting or tilting will convince it that itās an imprint š
The light must be at a lowish altitude from the bottom left. Shining on the little snow boulder, but also such that it grazes the flat snow at an angle.
This is why the surrounding snow is dimmer than the imprint.
The top bump has a shadow a little to the right and behind it. This must be right out the door. In the bottom right OP is holding a phone in left(?) hand (at least trying to not block the light)
I figured out if you zoom in and focus on the details on the right, you can eventually see it....but it doesn't matter how many times I see it, as soon as I zoom back out its gone. I feel like the face/cheek doesnt make sense and throws it off.
Oh ok. I see it in the hood if I zoom in. Itās kind of like a canyon. Once I zoom out to where I can see the hood curve, I lose it. Now I can see the lower right even when itās zoomed out. This is crazy
For me, it flipped when I focused on seeing what looks like the little rock pile or pile of snow that is rising up next to the girl's imprint.. is actually a hole caused by her left arm, with the dark part being the back of the lowest point of the hole, not the highest point of a peak. It looks like a little mountain seen from above, but it's actually a little gorge. Once that flips for you, the whole photo does.
Because the light is coming from the right, not the left. It looks like the light is coming from the left if you see it as a raised sculpture... but when you see it as an imprint, it becomes clear that the light is coming from the right.
I still canāt see it - my brain isnāt letting me. Iāve tried to rotating my phone, focusing on a point and zooming in. The bottom bit I can see itās not raised but from the shoulder up looks raised to me.
Itās bugging me š Iāll have to come back tomorrow and look when Iām not tired.
AI? Too perfect, right? Iāve never seen that kind of detail in snow. Was she perfectly still, cause a fall implies a lot of movement. But more than that, the warmth of her skin should melt the snow not make a picture perfect impression. This is very odd.
This photo was taken in my front yard on Dec 3 in Missouri after a snow storm dumped 5 or so inches on us unexpectedly two days before. The snow was very heavy and wet due to it being just around 32° F , not dry and fluffy like you would see in much colder climates. My daughter is 18 months old and had a bulky snow suit and boots on. It was hard for her to walk and so it was very comical when she face planted and couldnāt move at all to get back up. I picked her up by the back of her snow suit as not to drag her face through the snow and saw this perfect imprint. The sun is shining from the far right side of the photo, causing the face portion to light up, while the shadowed portion on the right reflects where her shoulder and body landed in the snow. Indeed a confusing perspective but no AI here lol
Adding a comment to pin- Thereās quite a lot of speculation that this photo is AI generated, I promise that it isnāt and the only way I can think to prove that is including the photo details straight from my iPhone camera roll. Map details obviously blocked out. Itās not altered or edited or adjusted in any way. My daughter is small and the snow was heavy and dense, she couldnāt pick up her feet to walk and so she fell straight forward and stuck in the snow like a cartoon. I picked her up by the back of her snowsuit like scruffing a cat and saw her face outline, chuckled, and snapped a quick photo and went on my way. It wasnāt until I went back to look at the photo that I saw the incredible detail of the imprint. Thanks everyone for the love ā¤ļø Iām thrilled that I captured such a confusing perspective in a mundane thing.
I was unable to see this as an imprint until I flipped it upside-down. I still can't see it in the normal version, but upside-down it's immediately obvious to me
When I first scrolled and saw this it looked flipped for me for a second, now itās raise again. And Iād already tried rotating my phone. My brain doesnāt want to see it š
Wow. I took an hour smoke long break and came back to this and FINALLY saw it as an imprint! This one blew my mind. I was almost ready to call it ai lmao
Reminds me of a deep thought I had when younger: A shadow of yours (say, on the pavement) could be a top-down perspective of you. Does this make any sense?
Infinite daughter glitch
The army shall grow
Reminds of that Chinese army of statues
The terracotta army?
I hope she's okay? šš»š Good print though š¤£šš»
Did someone say print?
What is this, an r/art reference in the wild??
With a gun to my head, I would not exploit that glitch
Usually I can get these to flip but man. My brain is not having it. No amount of arguing or squinting or tilting will convince it that itās an imprint š
I was sitting here for a minute or so goingā¦.come on, the light should be coming from the leftā¦.nopeš¤£
From the rightā¦.not the leftā¦.i donāt know my directions š
Maybe it won't flip, because ita not an imprint. Their daughter fell in the snow... and is still there, slowly being covered
Im thinking more and more it might be aiā¦.just because of the eyes nose and mouth
same...it just doesn't make sense

Same! Iām really frustrated haha

100% daughter is still under there š¤Æ
Iām with you. Usually I can see it fairly quickly but I still canāt with this one.
For me, it flipped when I focused on seeing what looks like the little rock pile or pile of snow that is rising up next to the girl's imprint.. is actually a hole caused by her left arm, with the dark part being the back of the lowest point of the hole, not the highest point of a peak. Still not seeing it. The part that was left with the arm print seems the correct way, but the rest not! Help
Oh my god itās 4am and I finally got it š bless
I can only see an imprintĀ

What a terrible web site name: peepee network...
That page notes it is just a copy of the Wikipedia entry, so let's cut out the middle man: hollow face illusion
I tried reading the article but quickly realized Iām not smart enough.
The light source is on our right. I know, it took me a while too. š
It isn't, they left her outside overnight.
Me too, which is good news, because it means we're "less likely to be schizophrenic or have psychotic symptoms"!
She fell on the other side of the snow
I found that zooming in and looking at the edges show the impression better. Id die laughing if I saw that in real life, lol
And you just left her there?
Tough but fair
If she couldnāt make it out herself, she didnāt deserve to live š
They were in the Andes at the time, and when in Cuzco...
Canāt tell if she fell in or she fell out
Well that is what makes this a confusing perspective
Came for this! Thanks for not disappointing me :)

This is really cool! You should post in r/accidentalrenaissance
Straight outta Pompeii
Crazy muthafucka named Hippodamus!
came here to say it too
Sheās still in there? I just canāt figure it out.
Just about to ask the same thing
Itās an imprint of where she fell
That seemed the obvious thing, but for a few reasons it didnāt look like that to me. The perfect detail in the face is the main reason.
But yes, I read the OPās explanation and I get it.
Your daughter is the snow
I think the snow fell on your daughter...

Next time it snows my sister is falling in the snow, arthritic hip or not.
She looks like a samurai warrior on a horse
And you just left her there? Monster
It almost looks like it could go on to an American Express Platinum card!
If that was my kid I'd frame that picture! Actually, I still might.
I don't get it, if that is an imprint, why is there a shadow on the right as if it is raised?

Looking at the edges theres no way this is an imprint
She is the snow
From the ashes a hero rises, and from snow, a⦠daughter?
Lovecraft could write an entire novella about this.
This is awesome
Your daughter is taking snow angels to the next level.
So you're gonna pick her up in spring?

This is beautiful art
Wow. I took an hour smoke long break and came back to this and FINALLY saw it as an imprint! This one blew my mind. I was almost ready to call it ai lmao
Is sheā¦still in there?
Oh stop it. She's buried under the snow.
I like how you can really see how her face looked when it was squished against the ground lmao
lol poor kid š¤£
This is actually amazing! Thanks for sharing
Ughhhh itās the feet in the sand all over again. My brain cannot handle this type of illusion šµāš«
You should probably dig her up before the police arrive
Looks like a mountain from they sky, and a giant made an empression in the snow. šš
Looks like a film negative. What would it look like if you inverted the image?
Carbonite??
Looks like marble. Very amazing.
I see the imprint just fine. What I don't understand, is the two puffs of snow where her eyes would be.
We are only seeing her profile here. The left side of the imprint is hat/forehead, nose, mouth, chin.
Lmfao poor kid
Shouldnāt have fed her the one day blinding stew.
Is your daughter Mason Verger?
I canāt see it⦠someone help
Its like the haunted mansion busts!
This sillhouette is so perfect. The lines in the bonnet, the squinting lips. 𤣠and yeah my brain cant comprehend that she fell.
No that's maximus
Nice infinite daughter preservation jutsu
My mind canāt comprehend this. I need to go to bed.
This is awesome. š¤ Looks like she has a knack for becoming a great artist-sculptor.
Reminds me of a deep thought I had when younger: A shadow of yours (say, on the pavement) could be a top-down perspective of you. Does this make any sense?
KEVIN!
I mean, why leave her there?
"Father! tell mother I love her!"
Snow angel
Wow
Does she have debts to pay off to Jabba the Hutt?
Do you wanna build a snowman?Ā
No. I am the snowman.
The girl with the pearl earring?
And there she lay encased in ice for ten thousand years...
Ok so if you get some of those silver casting clay wax thing you can very quickly make another daughter
I hope you told her you love her before she was frozen

man, I never "get" modern art
Um have you checked if her soul is still in the snow?? Because it looks like it
Is she still there? Seems like it
I see a combination of a MeeMaw and Charlie Brown.
Well? Get her out of there!
