As someone who used hard drugs for a long time, and sold drugs to support my habit, my personal opinion is that accidental contamination is not very common.
Most drugs with fentanyl have that fentanyl in there on purpose. Most of it is in heroin (which isn't really heroin anymore, but it's the same customer base) and fake oxys, called "blues". Some is found in fake benzos, and some is found in coke. My personal opinion based on experience is that being found in coke is uncommon.
One thing to note is that we're already starting to see trends away from fentanyl and into newer chemicals called nitazenes.

After oil prices increased because of Russia’s invasion in Ukraine, the Biden administration eased sanctions on Venezuelan oil imports in 2023 and issued Chevron a permit to produce oil in Venezuela to export to the US. That was being exported to US refineries in the gulf coast region until at least the end of May 2025.
The current administration revoked that permit with a 30 day period to “wind down” operations by the end of March, but extended that another 60 days to the end of May as that deadline approached while simultaneously threatening tariffs against any country (aka China) that continued importing Venezuelan oil.

Venezuela has the kind of oil some US refineries need. US is the worlds #1 oil producer and exporter. But most of the oil produced in the US is light shale oil. US imports ~2 million barrels of heavy oil each day. This gets turned into asphalt, coke, heating oil, lubricants, and diesel. Stuff that is not as valuable as gasoline but still needed.
Light oil can also be turned into these products but the process takes a lot of energy and overall costs more than just distilling heavy oil (ex. turning gasoline into asphalt loses 95% of the value). It is cheaper to export light oil ($60/barrel) and import heavy oil ($50/barrel).
US imports heavy oil primarily from Canada these days (though it used to be Venezuela and Russia in the past). Venezuela is sitting on ~300 billion barrels of heavy oil which the US wants to get at a deeper discount on.

Venezuela has heavy crude and was the top source of heavy crude imported to the US during the first decade of the century. That was replaced by an increase in Canadian heavy crude.
After oil prices increased because of Russia’s invasion in Ukraine, the Biden administration eased sanctions on Venezuelan oil imports in 2023 and issued Chevron a permit to produce oil in Venezuela to export to the US. That was being exported to US refineries in the gulf coast region until at least the end of May 2025.
The current administration revoked that permit with a 30 day period to “wind down” operations by the end of March, but extended that another 60 days to the end of May as that deadline approached while simultaneously threatening tariffs against any country (aka China) that continued importing Venezuelan oil.
Twenty years ago the people of Venezuela were a threat to our ruling class because they voted for social democrats. Then we started sanctions and coup plots and Chavez died and now its a shell of a country and no threat to anyone.

Venezuela has the kind of oil some US refineries need. US is the worlds #1 oil producer and exporter. But most of the oil produced in the US is light shale oil. US imports ~2 million barrels of heavy oil each day. This gets turned into asphalt, coke, heating oil, lubricants, and diesel. Stuff that is not as valuable as gasoline but still needed.
Light oil can also be turned into these products but the process takes a lot of energy and overall costs more than just distilling heavy oil (ex. turning gasoline into asphalt loses 95% of the value). It is cheaper to export light oil ($60/barrel) and import heavy oil ($50/barrel).
US imports heavy oil primarily from Canada these days (though it used to be Venezuela and Russia in the past). Venezuela is sitting on ~300 billion barrels of heavy oil which the US wants to get at a deeper discount on.
It's all for oil.

It makes a lot more sense when you figure that the other option for heavy crude is Canadian tar sands. Remember all the bluster about Canada being the 51st state? We are so cooked.
We need heavy crude to extract Diesel fuel, which is necessary for mining, heavy truck fuel, and farming. The world will soon hit Peak Oil, if we haven't already; the Seneca Cliff will happen soon, and will probably result in Nuclear exchanges.
