What's the reason for two brackets of 4 vs single 8 team bracket?

8 team would be Day 1 and 2 like now. Day 3 would be winners, Day 4 losers, Day 5 cross Bracket. Day 6 morn cons game, Night 2-0 GAME. DAY 7 consolation finale, Day 8 Grand Final g1 Day 9 Grand Final g2 if necessary

A question for anyone visiting Omaha. We went to baseball village today and my son wanted to get a picture of the 8 flags, but there was not a good enough shot to get a picture (wind was not blowing very strong when we were there). Does anyone have a picture of the flags showing the teams, preferably before any of the teams lost?

Things I noticed:

Bracket 1 has only one team that played both the regionals and supers at home (Oregon State). Bracket 2 is the opposite, it has only one team that traveled for either the regionals or the supers (Murray State). Murray State and Arizona are the only teams that played neither their regional nor their super at home.

An all-Kentucky finals is possible if Louisville and Murray State win their brackets. Both Murray and Louisville are border towns, with Murray near the Tennessee border and Louisville across the Ohio River from Indiana. Murray is about 180 miles southwest of Louisville (or about a 3 hour, 30 minute drive). Despite this, they are in different time zones.

Last season 7 out of 8 CWS teams were located in the Eastern Time Zone. The other was in the Central Time Zone. This year, just 2 teams are on EDT (Coastal Carolina, Louisville), 3 are on CDT (Arkansas, LSU, Murray State), and 3 are on PDT (Arizona, Oregon State, UCLA).

Fun fact: as Arizona does not observe DST, Tucson is in Mountain Standard Time year-round.

It was often confusing to me as a child to hear people in other time zones talk about PST or MDT.
