Difficulty Level - HARD

You know the rules by now.

I listen to a Cocteau Twins song, I attempt to transcribe the lyrics WITHOUT ANY AID OF LINER NOTES OR LYRICS WEBSITES (foolish....I know) and you reply with your guess as to what the song is.

Winner gets….honestly…nothing. Except bragging rights, a celebratory GIF. and a link to the song of the day.

[NOTE: Any lyrics I perceive that either name a good portion of the song title or is just the song title in whole will be blocked out with *CENSORED\*. Text shown in italics wrapped in parentheses are just my snarky asides, usually about my shitty hearing.]

SORRY....I've just worked out, feeling ambitious, and ready to take on a more back-catalogue-y selection from the Cocteaus. And even though they do have some lyrics for this song up on cocteautwins.com, I'm curious to see what I hear and don the earbuds flying blind, as always. I think one verse and one chorus (and a description of the intro) should suffice.

-------------------------------

(CLUE: it starts out with what sounds like a foghorn, someone panting, and a dog barking)

Off-uh my

Off-uh my

Off-uh my

Off-uh my

knee (into a bird trilling sound...not sure how to spell this out)

Kess my

Kess my

Kess my

Kess my

eee (bird trilled again)

Get off my

Off my

Off my

Off my

eee (bird trilled)

Kess my

Kess my

Kess my

Kess my

eee (bird trilled again)

1ST CHORUS

Barking, biting

Oh moans, disect

Barking, biting

Oh moans, disect

Barking, biting

Oh moans, disect

Barking, biting

Oh moans, dicing

If I don't see a correct answer by 5PM Pacific, I will provide another hint.

As always, I look forward to your guesses and snark.

  • It's All but an Ark Lark

  • My problem is not having song titles attached to the lyric sounds in my head. I've listened to these songs for over 35 years now, and I still needed to see the title on that one before I could sing it out in my head all the way to the title. But literally the first things you put I knew, I would have had to go back and check. That song has such angular jagged guitar that I guessed it was from that time period anyway, though Heggie plays bass more like Robin does on that one, so I was a little lost on which one it was, therefore which period.
