We woke up around 7 (that's as late as our cat lets us sleep in these days) and took a nice hike down by Lake Champlain, then had breakfast and opened presents. Got a prime rib in the oven and scalloped potatoes in the crock pot for later.
No cheap, plastic battery-powered crap from China (well, maybe a couple of things for the cat) and NO MELTDOWNS because somebody didn't get something they wanted.
Slept in, now I'm on the couch reading a book, husband is watching a football game. We don't really celebrate Christmas but he did give me a bookstore gift card so I can buy more books 😂
We did our Christmas celebration with my in laws last night so we stayed up late watching Netflix and slept in. It's just the two of us and our kitties today. We're planning to veg out, cook a nice dinner and just relax.
Unfortunately I woke up at 4am and couldn’t fall back asleep, so I played video games for a few hours while my partner slept, then I made a breakfast casserole, drank mimosas, & had a dance party with the dog. Then I ate an edible and am now watching Home Alone. The perfect morning, Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! Heh heh…I wouldn’t admit this is to anyone but you guys, but my husband and I still haven’t gotten up! We’re in our pajamas, surrounded by piles of books, our cat, and massive mugs of tea. I suppose I’ll need to get up at some point to get the turkey breast in the oven…
Unfortunately I have a cat, and she does not respect the holiday peace.
Additionally, she has access to buttons with pre-recorded phrases that she's using to make demands, which has given me horrific insight into the lives of toddler-parents. (taking the buttons away is not an option, because without them she just screams when she wants something. I prefer to know what kind of bribe she needs to be pacified)
At 5 am she demanded that I go out into the living room to keep her company (her going into my bedroom was apparently not an option). She wanted catnip, and to play, and an early breakfast.
My only comfort is that she sits quietly in the window when an actual child would be blasting Coco Melon or whatever it is little kids watch.
Woke up at 3 am to get the turkey in th oven. Went back to sleep until 6 to check said turkey. Stayed up playing video games until now. Might take a nap for an hour or two after dessert is finished being made.

I slept in and watched films! I made silver dollar pancakes for breakfast and now preparing to make lentil and mushroom wellington for the first time. Gingerbread for dessert. It’s been a great Christmas! 🎄
Our tradition is Pillsbury cinnamon rolls and coffee and It's a Wonderful Life. Usually, we have our nieces over for Christmas, but that'll be tomorrow. We watched movies by the fire and had eggnog, meatloaf, and mashed potatoes for dinner.

Enjoying the clean and quiet before heading to my mom's to meet with the family including the little nephews. Love them to death but man they make a lot of noise.
Woke up at 7. Dog wanted to be let out. We went for a nice walk and came home to a quiet, clean house. I made a roast turkey/spiral cut ham. I’m now watching football, sufficiently stuffed and an afternoon nap is pending. Not a crotch goblin in sight. Merry Christmas to all.
Got out of bed at 8:30am to prepare for a couple of family members to visit. They’ve since left, so now I’m scrolling while my husband and cat nap on the couch beside me. It’s a great day.
Dinner at a fancy restaurant on Christmas eve so we could have an excuse to get dressed up for Christmas then back to pjs to open presents. One of my gifts was an air purifier from Germany which I’ve been wanting. Also a new graphics card (my husband knows me well). He also surprised me by hanging up fairy lights in our newly built sunroom!
Finally rolled up out of bed this morning for scrumptious breakfast and really bad for you desserts that you can only eat once a year.
Then it’s gaming all day.
Life is truly for living. You can struggle through it sure but why not enjoy the heck out of it instead?
Had breakfast and my good tea in my good teapot with my good tea cups. Will have a bunch of Chinese food later with more good tea and buttered toast with cucumber slices. Put up the tree and decorations. Really chill day.
Slept in til 9 or so. Put some rolls out to rise. Turkey is now in the oven and me and my doggers are relaxing in the recliner until dinner. It's sunny, blue skies and over 70°. Not too bad a day. I hope everyone's child free day is bliss. ❤️

We FaceTimed our families for a bit in the am and hearing the screaming kids and chaos in the background made us even more appreciative for the CF life.

Had my parents over early for a Xmas brunch, they left around 11 and my husband and I immediately went back to sleep 😂 up now, just relaxing and watching TV until we go to a late NBA Christmas game that we splurged on later tonight. Childfree Christmas is the best
We woke up at 8ish, did presents starting at 8:30, then breakfast, chilled for a bit until my Godmother got here, wished her a Happy Hanukkah and spent the last 3-ish hours on a boat either shelling or fishing. Now I’m in the hot tub, the boat is clean, my sister was able to make it from NYC and we have Goombay Smashes to drink and snacks to eat before dinner, which is steak and crab claws.
There is no screaming, no tantrums, no unwanted gifts (that I know of?) and only a handful of things that has to be returned/hemmed to fit. There are no meltdowns, there are no awkward talks with grandma. The day has not been hard so far. Most likely we’ll watch the Grinch or Charlie Brown Christmas. We will go to bed happy and then my sister gets dropped off early for her flight back home before she has to work. Life is so much better when there’s no kids involved, I haven’t felt my stress levels increase at all today.

For me, sleeping until 7am is sleeping in, as I usually get up at 5am to get ready to leave for work so I'm not late.
That's pretty much how it is for me. Woke up around 7AM, which is sleeping in since I would otherwise have been up for work a couple of hours earlier.
Woke up at 12 (my work keeps me up late and today's my first day of holidays) , had a solo feast , went for a walk, all is good.
Went to work unfortunately because surprise the guy with kids got the day off and Thanksgiving off.
