Has anyone been to Herb on Broadway and done the plant-based tasting menu? The food looks outstanding but it is kind of pricey. Curious about your experience. Also do they do normal menu items? Looks like it’s only offered as a $ per person type of experience

  • I have done the plant based menu albeit 3 years ago. It was delicious. It was a memorable meal. The papaya salad and the curry were standouts but everything was great. The chef came and said hello to us and surprisingly gave everyone small gifts lol. I have been wanting to go back but am spoiled for choices in uptown.

Do you live in uptown? So do I. What are your favorite spots? Anything outside of Alice’s, Penelope’s? I do like Rakkan for Ramen, and Lonesome Rose for the nachos. Fiya for hummus and falafel. Pick me Up and Tweet for brunch. Ramadan for the falafel sandwich! Nhu Lan for bahn mi. Fat Cat for peanut bowl!

Thank you for this! Saw your comment and got takeout from lonesome rose, incredible

I went to Lonesome Rose tonight! Had the vegan nachos and sweet potato bowl, was so good and easily split between 2 people for $24

Also, Middle East cafe for the falafel plate, imm rice and beyond for Pad Thai, cuckoo for tofu bibimbap and japchae, demera/tesfa for Ethiopian, Chengdu impression for mapo tofu, lao sze chuan for Kung Pao tofu, smach dab for breakfast sandwich with their gf focaccia and a recent find - kimchi pop for the sundubu jiggae (soft tofu stew) and japchae...there are more but that's all I could recall for now

Loving Heart is all vegan and pretty solid. Also Nabala and The Lost Hours serve Beacon donuts, and Big Chicks has decent options as well

  • Agreed with the person who said Tesfa. My fav for Ethiopian. While Ethiopian diamond and demera are a bit more popular, Tesfa is better IMO

As for Herb: I haven't been there but it's legit, Thai folks in the city ride for it which is always a good sign.

Looking forward to going myself soon

  • Went for my anniversary and it was great! The tofu as well as the coconut mushroom soup were our favorites
