I’m the opposite. Lol If I can get a few pieces traded off, I do really well against similarly rated players (1400 blitz/1500 rapid on Lichess). My opening play is really holding me back.
Then just play something immovable. Play scotch or london, caro, and kings indian. These all take like 30 minutes to learn basics, and you are FINE for 10 moves
I will look into this. I’ve intentionally not studied chess in the past because of the intensity of other parts of my life, but I’m tired of being plateaued.

Stop thoughtlessly grind opening theory that someone copied from stockfish.
If you play only stockfish moves, yeah you are pretty decent in the opneing.
It's not that, it's the fact that every free pawn looks like a tactic I don't see, and I don't know endgames
