Hey, OP! Did your game end in a stalemate? Did you encounter a weird pawn move? Are you trying to move a piece and it's not going? We have just the resource for you! The Chess Beginners Wiki is the perfect place to check out answers to these questions and more!
The moderator team of r/chessbeginners wishes to remind everyone of the community rules. Posting spam, being a troll, and posting memes are not allowed. We encourage everyone to report these kinds of posts so they can be dealt with. Thank you!
Let's do our utmost to be kind in our replies and comments. Some people here just want to learn chess and have virtually no idea about certain chess concepts.
I'm no 2000, but seeing as they haven't responded yet, maybe you can find this helpful in the meantime.
Doing puzzles daily is great! I'd recommend a few things:
If you haven't already, learn some basic chess principles. If you have, that's okay too, but if you haven't, they are incredibly helpful when it comes to improving.
Second, find a set of openings you like and stick to them. For me, that's the London System for white, Caro-Kann against 1. e4, and the King's Indian for everything else. Find a set that works for you and resources online to learn the basics of that opening's goals.
Third, while you're playing, go through the checklist "checks, captures, and attacks." If you want to learn more about that, there are some videos on YouTube on how to implement them.
Also, when practicing the game, play Rapid or Classical time controls. Blitz and Bullet can be fun, but experts agree that they're much less helpful when it comes to improving at the game overall.
Finally, and most importantly, it's worth noting that, when improving at any skill, it's completely normal to have dry streaks where you don't improve or even get worse despite practice. It's part of learning! Take it slow, and eventually you will get past the plateau. It takes time to learn a skill, and that's part of the fun!
If you want me to take a more personalized look, I'd be willing to look your profile over if you tell me your Chess.com or Lichess username. That said, I'm only rated like 1250, but I think could give a tip out two. Good luck!
I would love some advice on how you broke through from 1600 towards 2000! I am an adult learner and learned to play around 4 years ago. Hovering around 1800-1900 on lichess now but not sure how best to keep improving

Thanks for the tip
I don't expect people would fall for this at this level..
That’s why he resign after Ng5+, Kg8 and Qh5
What app is this? It looks different from the chess.com that I use
It’s chess.com. You can change / personalise the chess set and the wallpaper as well.
See you on the other side brotha
(Hoping I'll be able to get to that side lol)
Of course you will !
What am I missing, why can’t the king just take that bishop that you moved?
Knight moves Ng5. Placing king in check.
If black's king steps back to Kh7 or Kh8 after taking bishop, then white Qh5. Inevitably setting up for mate.
If King moves anywhere else after taking bishop, Qd3 followed by Nd7 sets up for mate.
I analyzed the image and this is what I see. Open an appropriate link below and explore the position yourself or with the engine:
