From a Wikipedia description, the anime seems to be about a guy who is his sister’s confidant in her “younger sister fetish” which includes owning erotic games relating to the matter.
So it’s? Just incest porn? That’s it? I was expecting something really dark like that one torture porn where I think she ends up dying at the end or something?
As anime go, sure it’s not school daze or killing stalking. But it’s about context. Admitting you’ve seen an incest anime is nothing.
Deciding you want that to be the face of your internet presence, that character represents who you are? Weird choice that you want everyone who sees you first thought to be “I LOVE INCEST”
I'm throwing myself under the bus a little here but it's actually a fairly sweet slice of life series about a brother reconnecting with his estranged sister, helping her make friends and open up about her nerdy hobbies.
The ending is... controversial though, yeah. But it's very much not pornography or adjacent.
In fact, it's one of the top selling light novel series of all time. Which are kinda like simple books with 5-10 illustrated pages thrown in.
So much of anime cliches were at their most prominent through the late 00s to mid 10s. Light beam censors, running to school with a single piece of toast, incest, harems, ecchi, i mean that was the era where more deres than just tsundere existed and people would constantly debate which one was best.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss some of it. But that’s probably due a lot to being younger at the time.
Those things are still pretty rampant tbh. I have to heavily filter what shows up on the updates feed for myself. Many sites don't even have an Incest filter.
If it were real, sure, but step-cest is literally one of the most popular genres of porn, I don’t know why people always act like it’s some crazy thing
I mean, IRL it’s very hard for incest to be consensual, just cause of the power dynamics in play. If they grew up together, the younger typically had to obey the older, and that would color every interaction going forward. Same reason student-teacher relationships and patient-therapist relationships are typically not consensual either.
That said, this is fiction, and I consume fiction with way darker themes, so I have no right to judge.
Yeah its a very "better safe than sorry, just forbid it" kinda thing.
Im not sure how I feel about the "its just fiction" angle. Because I have seen it said before for other illegal or taboo things and I do get it however is partaking in the depiction of it, not kinda fucked up still? Of course I dont mean something just HAVING it but something having it, with it as the main focal point, for the explicit pleasure of the audience, if that makes sense.
And if we were to go along with "its just fiction," is there a bar? Children? Animals?
u/Popular-Ad-6421, your post does fit the subreddit!
I require context please

Nah she just ends up marrying her brother 💀
Well I’m glad it ends happy then. No more of that weird younger sister stuff.
Idk why I just stared at your comment, stunned for like 10 seconds lmao.
Incest porn with what sounds like a pedophile aspect throw in

It is a product of a different time and a different culture.
A bygone era that even if it may be of the disgust of a lot I cannot stop but to love and yearn for.
Oreimo and Genshiken are musts to feel what liking anime in the 2000s and early 2010s was about both with the good and the bad.

It is good that it is no more. But Nostalgia always tints everything in pink

Huh!?
Where's that soyjack reaction image?
Or something I forgot what it's called
you can say "ass" on reddit 👍
in english the two spellings have slightly different connotations. it’s subte, but with enough practice, even you could learn the difference too!
This fits a good ark since OOP made a bad statement that he would disagree with he had more information.
But he is worse mentally.
What's the problem with Oreimo? It's just a random incest anime.
Just?
There are worse things than incest anime out there, like bad incest anime
We live in a world where Legend of the Overfiend exists. I’ll take loving siblings marrying each other any day.
A lot of people get really scared when any type of sex is mentioned. They’d be shitting and pissing even if it was about normal relations

I mean incest is weird but if they're above age and consensual that's like the bare minimum for me to be at least a little accepting
I googled it quickly and its about a 17 year old and his younger sister so they're not even "above age"
Ah.

I wish Incest could be portrayed how it actually was 😅 definitely not a romantic experience

Imho, there's no bar in fiction. As long as it doesn't affect you irl, enjoy whatever weird shit you want.
Aren't the main characters in their mid teens?
No idea. I don’t watch anime.
Me neither lol, I typed it into Google. It seems odd to defend something you don't have basic info on
Dear Lord, who let the puritans touch the internet again?!
Am I Oliver Cromwell for thinking shagging your sibling is a bit weird
Of course it’s weird. But let’s be fair, there are waaaaaay worse animes out there than, “People who love each other and want to bone also share DNA.”
