Are there any sans-serif fonts that make a noticeable distinction between those? I've heard that serif fonts are preferred for print anyway; maybe that's a part of the reason?
First one that comes to mind that I believe has a distinction is Trebuchet MS - the lower case L is a little curvy on that one. I am sure plenty of others have similar distinctions
Check the I vs l for distinction, this fails the test. This is important for text that has to be printed and may need retyped, like urls.
