Turtle is a one-year-old female. She has been laying in the same spot for two days now. She does not want to be held. When I put her on the ground she stumbled and wobbled like she was drunk. I have her in an empty flower box with towels and a heating pad. I bring her tuna mixed with water, but she barely eats anything. What's my next move.
Take her to a veterinarian ASAP.
Does it sound like distemper?
Only a vet can say.
It sounds like you need to take her to the vet.
You go to the vet. When your pet is sick, you take them to the doctor. If you were sick, you would get yourself help, IDK why you have a pet if you think posting on the internet for a medical emergency is an appropriate response.... No one here can help you.
I feel every word of this
I don't mean to be harsh, but I just don't understand..... like if my dog was sick I would be finding a way to take them to the vet. If I have to work a 2nd job for the next year to pay for it, that's what I would be doing, but all these people just post on reddit as if a DVM is going to be able to run diagnostics over the screen T_T. Even if you don't have a car you have neighbors, uber and lyft both have pet options, care credit, door dash..... there are options if you're willing to put the work in to keep your pet healthy.
Not everyone has immedaite access to a vet. We don't know where this person is located.
If they have access to internet they can locate a virtual one, which would be better than strangers who are not vets on the internet XD lies detected.
And once again, I dont know many vets in my area who do virtual appointments. So lies detected is false, my point still stands. Good try at a comeback though.
So dutch isn't available in your area? Chewy online vet? There are tons of options, you just like to make excuses.
I will admit I didn't know about Chewy Online Vet. But I could forsee issues happening from it. But I am not going to waste time talking to you. You are one of those knowbit alls who views anyone with a differing opinion as lesser.
okay but how is that any better than posting on reddit where no DVM can give advice? There are plenty of online vets that could give actual emergency care to someone vs randos on reddit....
and no, I am not a know it all, I just don't get why people ask for medical advice from randos on the internet.....
This is a vet emergency!!!
Take her to a vet!!!
Go to the vet now!
She sounds seriously ill, especially for a young cat.
Please take her to the vet soon. She is very sick. Do it now please .. 😢🙏
Sounds like her kidneys are shutting down. This is an emergency. Please take her to the vet before it is too late.
I second this! I had a sweet cat pass of kidney failure and that behavior is in line with his final day.
Emergency vet NOW
We cannot help you with this, go to your vets now.
Your cat will not get better without immediate treatment of the underlying cause and intensive supportive care. This means she needs subq fluids, syringe feeding, and to be kept warm. She could have FIP, some kind of bacterial or viral infection, something else… You mention going to 3 different vets. What diagnostics were done?
The only person who can tell you what’s going on is a Veterinarian.
I took my cat to three different vets. Only one had a treatment plan: IVs for a day. I brought her home and put her in her heated box in the garage. I checked on an hour later and she was gone. I scouted around the house, but no sign of her. Got the flashlight out and explored further. Still no sign of her. I assumed she went off to die. She was barely walking when I brought her home. But tonight, there she was, back in her box, like nothing happened. I gave her some tuna mixed in water, but she didn't seem much interested in eating. Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts.
What diagnostics did those 3 different vets do?
Took her temp. Felt her heart and breathing. No blood tests. Just gave her an IV overnight. She's about the same as before. Turtle can't walk steadily. Seeing a fourth vet tomorrow.
So, essentially zero diagnostics then. She needs a bloodwork panel. May be FIP, which is fairly easy to treat but you need to get some actual diagnostics done.
Fourth vet: Very nice young lady. Spent about 45 minutes examining my cat. Blood panel didn't show anything suspicious. X-Rays showed a full bladder, but healthy heart and lungs. My cat was given a saline injection. Her tongue was "burnt" looking, as if she licked an electrical outlet. Anyways...she is resting comfortably, but not eating or drinking.
