I've been casually following this build on their youtube channel here : https://www.youtube.com/@biy_buildityourself

Super cool to see it mostly finished at SEMA. These guys put together a really interesting build and just kept going on the finer details.

  • What a wicked and well thought out build , cleaner than some factory builds

I'm casually into cars, but have absolutely no interest in learning to wrench on them.

I have watched every minute of the V10 Lincoln BIY build. It's a passion build, small budget effort and it's amazing!

  • Great build and the Lincoln is a gorgeous car.

I don’t like the speckled carbon fiber body kit stuff though.

  • for engineers this thing is the best resume they could have, love it.

  • Such an awesome build! Id love to know more about their background, all that knowledge at that age!

SE Michigan kids. Likely work at the big 3. There is a lot of us that did stupid shit like this in Michigan. They are smart.

IIRC one or both of them were/are engineers at Ford

  • These guys are truly awesome. What they did was amazing in every way. The dedication and ingenuity in the build is unsurpassed in most builds these days.

  • I've followed this build for a while. They've done some amazing work, especially for a couple dudes in a home garage. I've had so many frustrations in my work dealing with engineers who could design a screwdriver they wouldn't be able to turn. It should be a prerequisite for an engineer to have to work on something they designed. This build is what happens when you can design AND implement.

Great job by them. Happy they got it to SEMA. I hope they get the exhaust notes back. Such a cool sound!

  • Maybe this will inspire Lincoln to make a car based on the Mustang platform.

  • Had their video recommended randomly and it has been a blast watching these guys make this thing a reality. I hope they get the viewers and funding needed to keep it going!

  • I followed this build on their youtube channel and man... these guys make me feel hopeful about the younger generation continuing car culture into the future. Imho its the most impressive build I've ever seen and the level of work, passion and honest to god genius that went into this makes me so happy every time I see it.

  • I hope they can find a way to fit the rear suicide doors at some point

Fun idea but that would require something even more custom as coach door Continentals were on a longer wheelbase with completely differently shaped rear doors.

  • this is still FWD?

    RWD manual, Mustang subframes.

  • Very cool engine swap. The build just looks so... cheap with the ugly chrome wheels and carbon.

I think you are diminishing what they accomplished by calling it just “an engine swap”. What they did was absolutely insane from a build and engineering perspective.

What part looks cheap? I get not liking chrome, but it absolutely fits this style car, they're custom cut, and inspired by an existing Ford prototype.
