This is the gist on what Id like to see the canucks main logo be. I am not an artist in any way or know anything about doing any computer graphics at all...its obviously very rough. Maybe some of the colours could be switched around to make it pop more or to maybe make it look more clean...but like I said Im no artist!
I think the canucks should stick to the green and blue colours as it was our original iconic colour, even though the red black and yellow look great too. No one else in the league has the blue and green.
Im not a fan of the orca, the canucks were named after Johnny Canuck and we should be using him in some form on our main logo in my opinion. The flying skate itself is a great logo, but the skate doesn't really represent the team very well, so I just replaced the skate with Johnny canuck and kept the streaks behind him to make it look like hes skating fast.
If I knew anything about computer graphic art I wouldve tilted his head down to be looking more forward, but I dont have the skills to do that.

I personally think Johnny Canuck is a bit too cartoony looking. I wish there was a more realistic angry version maybe. I don’t know, or just give us a redesigned Orca logo perhaps.
I don’t see how cartoony is an issue. The Penguins and Ducks logos are cartoonier than this and they are great. Hell, Ducks logo is one of the best in the league imo.

I think the problem is that the skate part and Johnny Canucks part are slightly different art styles, one example being that the skate part has rounded off edges and the color sort of bleeds (not an artist, so not the best at art related descriptors) and Johnny Canuck is more sharp all around.
Plus, Johnny pointing his head up while the motion lines pointing downwards is a little weird and might be adding to the cartoony feel that a lot of people are getting.
I think it’s just a by-product of combining two logos from different eras of logo design, which is why the penguins work because their logo is designed with a unified art style, and same with the ducks. This concept is great and I would love to see it in a unified style, that would make this look awesome and not at all cartoonish.

Well like I said I’m not an artist at all. I whipped this up on Microsoft paint3D by cropping Johnny Canuck and throwing him on the skate logo, then painting over some of the skate lines to remove it, then changed the colours of everything by using that paint bucket thing. It could definitely use some tweaks by an actual artist, and as I said in my description the head would be tilted down if I had the skills to do that. The point was just to give a general idea of what I think would’ve made a better logo than what we’re using and also better than the Johnny Canuck logo on its own.
Yeah completely agree, just was trying to write down why it looked like a cartoony design so that even I could have a better time understanding what was causing it. And absolutely wonderful job on the logo dude, even with the minor flaws it looks fantastic already.
Plus the sharks, wild, panthers... All the logos are simplified.

I like this attempt a lot. I’m not saying it’s perfect by any means but I’d encourage you to keep trying similar ideas. You’re right about some key points. I don’t think the name of the team will be changed anytime soon, so why not look at different ideas built around an actual namesake logo? A skate as a logo sucks even more than an orca (in my opinion) for a team called the Canucks. I get the attraction to the black and yellow colour scheme of the skate jersey but the actual skate logo sucks, and it sucks hard. I also understand some of the criticism of the orca logo (mostly that it has barely anything to do with the team name). Anyway OP, you’ve got more skill than you give yourself credit for. Is it possible that AI could help you make the complicated adjustments you were referring to (tilting the head forward)? Keep up the good work.
