• the best part is these will probably be $90 t-shirts and $160 hoodies and you can see the Gildan tags in this picture

    it's ULTRA cotton though!

  • They look good, and as an Ally, I think the NHL is Bush League and BS for removing them from league wide jerseys.

    Fk the Neanderthals.

I read that as fuck the Netherlands and was greatly confused what the Dutch did to hurt you

There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch.

Sick reference, bro. Your references are out of control, everyone knows that.

Maybe what I really meant to say is fk em both, or maybe not.

  • No jersey tho.

    Best sport, worst league

I donno if I would go that far, thr NFL from a cultural point of view has been way off the mark(trying to suspend guys taking a knee using national anthems or skipping them),  and as far as pride goes there's a bit of pushback in all major sports NBA NFL MLB... I don't know that all the players support it and in some of the markets at least in the states.  Hockey doesn't seem to have nearly those problems in the vast majority of it's markets... Really it's more of a question on whether or not an employer can make an employee wear something that they might have a problem with religiously.  The owners love them some jersey sales so it's more on a handful of players that would feel they are being discriminated against Either way the gear looks awesome might be the best design yet

I'm not religious or a supporter of any homophobia, that being said, an employer cannot force an employee to wear or participate in something that goes against their religious values, that's another form of discrimination that we protect from in Canada.  I understand from the owners point of view their worry as far an NHLPA grievance.  I'm glad we have come a long way as far as inclusiveness on hockey, still a ways to go, but this organization and others do a really great job at showing the importance of hockey being for everyone and celebrating pride as well. (I'm 40 so when I say the games come a long way, I'm comparing to where it was when I was a kid)

For sure but they can make it an option.  If 19 players want to wear it and one guy refuses to come out or wear a regular jersey, let him stand behind his bigoted views.

I struggle to understand why people have a hard time understanding that.

You don't remove everyone's ability to show support, to protect some bigoted piece of trash.

Absolutely, of I ran the NHL that would be my position,  I don't think it's discriminating against any players, now you can't force them to wear it and if they sit out it is what it is, but at least the fans can have a say in who they support and want kept in an organization and who they dislike

Yes and no. People generally are born into their religions, and face persistent and consistent brainwashing/cultural pressure to conform from the time they are tiny children. I've had a lot of second hand religious trauma in my life and I wanted to sort of build more empathy for the people I'd come to fear, so I watched a LOT of deconstruction videos and testimonies, and the way people from high control religions lose families/communities/sense of self/sense of the world if they break conformity is heartbreaking. There are absolutely cynical/cruel/hypocritical people who wear the prop of a religion as a justification for bigotry, but a lot of them are very very heavily indoctrinated and scared.

Which is not really a defense for the NHL backpedaling on pride, that was just cold business calculus and cowardice. Not that I expect this league to have any principles at this point.

Yeah, it's great people are doing that work.

The rest of the world placating every person suffering from "religious upbringing trauma" by allowing them to continually be hateful, isn't a solution.

The rest of the world placating every person suffering from "religious upbringing trauma" by allowing them to continually be hateful, isn't a solution.

I think this is an oversimplification and not what I'm saying or expressing. I was responding to your assertion that "people choose to join hateful religions"...this almost unilaterally not the case. That does not mean I think hateful religions need to be "placated" or allowed to be continually hateful, especially as I'm one of their favorite targets.

At a certain point, regardless of someone's "indoctrinated up bringing" they become responsible for their thoughts, feelings and ideals.

I do not have sympathy for grown adults, who have access to an infinite wealth of knowledge at their finger tips, that continue to propagate their hateful, bigoted ideals.

Yes, absolutely I can give children a reasonable excuse, and a little bit of a runway into their adulthood. That's not who we are talking about.

People get indoctrinated into all sorts of things religions being one of them,  for good or for bad from a legal point of view you can't discriminate based off religion.  Thats probably a good thing most of the times considering how diverse this country is, and like I stated above it's the most likely reason we are where we are

Wearing a coloured jersey that represents inclusion is not discriminating against someone's religion.

If you're unaware that Pride doesn't just mean "Go gay people" then you need to work on educating yourself.

That's really fucking stupid I literally say I don't support it you dumbass, what I'm saying is this is something that would scare ownership around the NHL because they don't want the NHLPA on behalf of a player forced to wear a jersey to file a discrimination complaint.  They also don't want the negative story of guys sitting out games or practices because of their religion which has happened in the past.  Do I think they should go this direction hell no, let guys sit out if they don't want to take part that way as fans we will know who is who... They should have the jerseys worn at minimum on the lineup, then post game they could do a thing on the ice where the sign them and give them to young fans or something. Next time don't be a dick and attempt to out a guy as a non ally when he's explaining why something is done a certain way without supporting it.

  • Doesn't look quite as good as previous Pride designs like this one. I think the heart pattern makes the design look a little juvenile, like they picked the motif and shoehorned it inside the flat outline of the Canucks logo, but cut it off where the head starts.

yo thats actually peak, i hate anything rainbow clothes (not gay related i just hate dressing like a pack of m&ms) but fuck that is a beauty of a design

    It's a brilliant design, I love it.

    that’s my favourite one too

Hands down my fave. We only got a coffee mug and I wish we'd bought more merch with it!!

I grew up into skateboarding and snowboarding, and these designs are right up my alley ,I'm a big fan of this one

It is probably because the colour are intermingled with each other so it's harder for are brains in understand it, whereas the other logos/crests have them more slowly blended so we have a greater understanding on what we are seeing

That’s my fave too! I bought a hoodie with that logo but it’s so faded now 😔 I wish I bought two of them lol (but in my defence I thought it was sewn on jersey crest not just a cheap iron-on transfer)

  • This will be perfect attire for the cottage.

  • $40 + shipping for a gildan shirt. Silly

  • Funny I love how they do it when Washington plays 😂😂 A+

  • Without wearing the jersey this is all just rainbow capitalism.

  • I bought a pride hoodie from them a few years back. $150 and it was the cheapest hoodie they could find with a silk screened logo. Never again.

It's a cash grab. Always is.

  • Why isn't there a starlight night der der der.....??

    Obvious sarcasm.
