Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.

We appreciate the opportunity to respond to your concerns regarding fixed recline seating. Please note that WestJet is not charging a fee for the ability to recline and there is always the ability to preselect more appropriate seats for your needs.

WestJet currently has only 21 aircraft in this configuration. We are closely monitoring guest and employee feedback to assess the product’s performance, comfort and suitability, while ensuring our unwavering commitment to safety remains at the forefront of every decision we make.

As safety is a priority and so important to us, it’s worth noting as part of the reconfiguration, the aircraft underwent an extensive safety and certification process. All modifications were completed in accordance with Transport Canada’s rigorous airworthiness standards and WestJet’s own high internal safety requirements.

For more information, please visit our Cabin Updates pages.

  • "WestJet is not charging a fee for the ability to recline" I hate doublespeak.

But they will charge you another hundo to select a seat with the ability to recline.

Which they will switch you out of later. You might get your money back

They recently switched my aircraft to all economy after I’ve paid for premium. No word on how much they would refund, and it would come 30 days after my trip. If I wanted an exit row seat I would have to pay again to upgrade. We tried to reason with them and ask if they would block a middle seat and they acted like we were insane for making such a request when we paid for an 2 person row. What a great experience for my first time booking premium for a very special trip

If you don’t get a full refund for the difference it might be worth considering filing suit in small claims court.

We decided to just change flights as it wasn’t worth it for us. So now we just have to stop in Calgary for about an hour and it won’t add too much time to the final trip

That’s probably the wisest move and best for your mental health. I’m 6’4” and my wife and I will be doing everything we can to avoid Westjet, I already barely fit in the seats and struggle to keep my feet and knees from intruding on anyone else’s space.

This just happened to me as well on one segment of a flight. I sent in feedback not really expecting anything useful in the way of action. It’s on the flight from Toronto to Grand Cayman, not really a low cost destination so not sure why they would think an all economy flight is appropriate for this route….

I’d love to know what you end up getting for the change. We ended up deciding to change our flights now, as we aren’t willing to move to economy for a 5 hour flight, which is half of our total trip.

We were doing Vancouver - Toronto - Aruba but now it’s gonna be Vancouver - Calgary - Toronto - Aruba 😬

Was it an old Swoop plane? It looks like they are still flying them with the budget airline set up.

My flight isn’t till February, hopefully they will change back before that - the agent told me that they don’t do the refund on the price difference until after in the event they change back to the original plane…

Reasoning with WestJet? What were you thinking? lol

ya , although air Canada will change your entire flight to Rouge like that is not a huge downgrade and pocket all the seat selection money.

They won’t even refund you anymore. They just give you their reward points instead, even if you purchased insurance through them.

They have to refund you, never let them give anything else but actual cash for their fuckups

Not according to them. Apparently, if you buy what they call Econoflex, there are no refunds. They did refund me for the seat selection and extra checked baggage.

"Just give us more money if you'd like to pre-select a seat that does recline, thanks"

I hate reclining on any economy seats . Even at 31 inch not enough space.

    Wow how hospitable!

It's close to the only thing they aren't charging a fee for.

Another term for it is "flagrantly lying". We should call it what it is.

They are providing a discount for the inability to recline.

    Yeah, like crap they aren't.

Flew last week and their airline magazine proudly displays who makes these decisions. We should be reaching out to these individuals who can actually make a difference - if they value feedback.westjet seat manager

Yet. They are not charging, yet.

  • So in other words you have to pay more money to choose a seat that is not doubling as an active torture device

You have to pay more for a 30” pitch, the seat that used to be the standard economy offering.

It was 31 or 32 twenty years ago

I replied the exact same thing back to them. Great minds.

There are other carriers, not many, but a few.

Eventually it’ll be standing flights and if you want to sit and rest, you can rent a seat for $50 for 5 minutes.

  • If any of these westjet planes every have a minor crash everyone could survive but no one will be able to walk

Yes I keep saying this! I really want to see the safety review that deems this kind of thing safe. Pull your car seat all the way up with your knees kissing the dashboard and hit a wall and it’d be obvious the review didn’t account for this - for some reason.

Seems like this information should be publicly available and if not, I wonder if an access to information request could get it published. I'd hope some major news organizations are already looking into it

  • Booking air Canada and porter whenever I can.  Also May cancel westjet world elite card.

Was looking through my account the other day to see what I can buy with the westjet dollars other than backpain and sore legs. Might just buy some gift cards and cancel it.

I've stopped using westjet card and using pc Mastercard for most purchases now.

You mean they're not offering a punch to the stomach and a kick to the groin for 10,000 points each (15,000 if you buy both)?

I think you can still get that at the gate

I cancelled my west jet card. I don’t see myself travelling with West Jet if I can’t help it!

I wish I hadn't cancelled my WestJet World Elite card so that I could cancel it now. Already cancelled it for their shady pricing for the companion voucher.

Porter prop planes are now configured with fixed seats btw. But legroom is fine.

Air Canada of decidedly worse, as in THE worst. At least it you're in a cramped plane you're not stranded in a city for days without any legitimate reason, on your own dime.

Westjet has left all kinds of people stranded for days in southern spots .  This sounds like a westjet bot.

Haven’t had IRROPS on WestJet lately?

Air Canada is a mess too.

No 28 inch spacing . Torture . The so called modern looking seats are incredibly uncomfortable . Butt gets numb quickly .

Westjet we're not happy until you're not happy .

The Sqc-led system could work for frequent flyers 🤷🏻

SQC is actually pretty sweet for me, but I totally understand why other AC flyers don’t like it.

  • I just got the exact same, word-for-word response from “Madeline” about my seat configuration feedback too. So it’s a form letter they’re sending to everyone who’s written in about the issue.

I mean yeah template email responses are standard for any corporate customer service email

Are you surprised that a company responding to thousands of customer service inquiries per day doesn’t have their reps writing personalized responses to each nearly identical complaint?

Not surprised, but this form letter makes it sound like I wrote in about fixed recline and safety. I didn’t. I wrote about the lack of leg room (I’m 6’2) and that I was changing my Westjet Visa to another RBC card. No reply would be better than one that talks about something else.

"Thank you for your question and here's the one we want to answer."

I sent in my comments on the torture devices... er, new seats. "Rav" replied noting how my comment couldn't be processed without a recent reservation.

Flew last week and their airline magazine proudly displays who makes these decisions. We should be reaching out to these individuals who can actually make a difference - if they value feedback.westjet seat manager

  • No more Westjet for me 🙅 until they reverse those bad decisions they started to make in the last few years. Shame for the company to choose profit over delivering a good service.

It seems to be the Onex way. The local movie theatre in our town is Onex owned. I haven't stepped foot in it in five years due to reports of its dilapidated condition.

  • Please send in your feedback, as long as it's positive

  • It's not a "fee", it's just a different cost for a different seat. Totally different thing!

  • I’m still waiting for someone who physically cannot fit. No guide or limit on height for the new 28” seats I don’t know what pitch I can fit in ?

They sell a seat without any height restrictions ? Are they seriously going to unload someone and cancel the ticket as they cannot physically fit in a seat safely, without any pre-purchase guidelines ??

The guy on viral video was able to swap to a different seat. The flight attendant was able to arrange that. Now, if the plane is full and no vacant seats, I would feel bad for those struggling to fit.

I do think they are on very thin ice until they specify the maximum height My wife is 6’5” she can fit on Transit, she can sit on the Train. Nothing would suggest she would not fit on a standard aircraft seat. Not like the standard base ticket offers a ‘Compact’ discount for people under 5’ tall ??

Does your 6'5" wife have like a really long torso and midget legs? I'm 6'2", I can't fit. I struggle with 29"

Totally the opposite but nothing in the description states maximum height. It certainly does not state not suitable for tall people.

  • When did you send in your feedback? I sent mine in Dec. 16 when I was still in flight because the lack of recline was so hard on my already exhausted body. Hoping I get acknowledgement.

  • So, in other words, we need to complain to Transport Canada so they revise their standards?

The only way this will change is if TC regulates it. WestJet doesn’t give a shit about some complaints if they are making more money.

Exactly. And I bet WJ will sue TC for lost revenue if TV makes a change. What a shit company they’ve turned out to be.

This is exactly what needs to be done. Even a simple crash test done on the runway should show that this is absolutely unacceptable. If people can break both their legs or their kneecaps when a plane has to make a hard stop, I don’t understand how you can consider that to be safe in any way.

Yeah I just can’t understand how this was approved and I think a lot of us would love to see an actual safety report

  • What year was it exactly when Westjet lost their soul?

Well, May 13th 2019 is when they announced the sale to Onex.

2022 when they scaled back and discontinued most of their eastern-Canadian routes. They even said outright that they were planning to focus on being a low-cost carrier rather than the main line/"regular" carrier they'd been for several years up until then.

They are doing a great job of being a low service carrier

  • I used to love Westjet.

    It's porter from now on.

  • All I'm seeing is "don't book with WestJet anymore". The enshitification of air travel continues. They are now off my list.

I'm not disagreeing with you about not booking with WestJet. But I think you're missing a key fact about capitalism- supply meets demand.

Air travel is expensive. There's no way around it. Prices for airline tickets really haven't increased at all over the past few years, either. In fact, when price is adjusted to account for inflation, flying has never been cheaper.

Consumers are demanding cheaper plane tickets, so the airlines are complying. If people vote with their wallets are start dishing out for the business and first class tickets, airlines will make more business and first class seats. In order to keep prices low, airlines need to cram more seats in to avoid losing money. I don't agree with it, but that's just how capitalism works.

A plane ticket in 1960 would be equivalent in cost to a business class ticket today. So if you want that kind of 1960's service while flying, be prepared to pay the equivalent cost.

That's the problem though... on my last few flights despite their alleged cost cutting to "keep fares low", WestJet is consistently the more expensive option. Kind of like ultra low cost amenities for full service prices.

Then why do you keep flying with them? Are you being held at gunpoint while buying tickets?

If I went to a restaurant and didn't like their food or service, I sure as shit wouldn't go back to that restaurant a second time. It's like all the people who complain about how shitty Tim Horton's has gotten, but yet they keep buying there??

If you're not happy with WestJet, just stop flying with them. It's that simple. If you continue to buy their tickets, you're part of the problem.

Um... I didn't fly with them because they were the more expensive option.

My point is that there's a dissonance between WestJet claiming they're eliminating legroom with the objective of keeping fares low while being consistently more expensive (in my recent experience) than Air Canada.

I agree with you. I think flying is too cheap and should be more expensive. Airlines are being propped up by governments and it used to be something special to travel by air. I think prices should go up and the experience should be great as well instead of what we get now. Business class is still too expensive for me but that's been consistent. The race to the bottom for prices has eroded the flight experience year after year for the last couple of decades.

I'd happily pay an extra 400-500 for my seat on a 5 hour flight to have a seat where I wasn't being elbowed by the person beside me, knee'd in the back from the person behind me or squished by the person in front of me when they drop their seat back. Oh and I could choose my seat without having to pay extra and I can bring 1 bag and 1 carry-on without having to pay extra. It's pretty simple.

  • "Please note that WestJet is not charging a fee for the ability to recline ..."

Cough. Snort. Splorf. OF COURSE YOU'RE NOT. You're just charging a fee to select a seat that CAN recline.

I can find it in my heart to feel sorry for the comms and PR staff at WestJet who have been ordered to fix this mess.

  • Just corporate bafflegab

  • It isn't even just a problem if you are taller than average now, it is if you aren't short, you are s.o.l. I found their seats a bit cramped in the past, but I could deal with it if there were no extra leg room seats available. There is no way I could do the new seats with my height and having osteoarthritis in my knees. I am 5'11, which is tall for a woman, but a lot of men are my height or taller, so apparently they are just screwed. I usually buy extra leg room seats for comfort, but now EVERYONE is going to rush to get those, and they are going to sell out quickly. Probably getting rid of my World Elite Mastercard.

  • Looking at booking flights for our family of four within a package to Costa Rica, first eliminating all the flights that layover in the US, then eliminating WestJet. Sucks since Canada-only options are already few, but I don't want to risk it.

  • Only 21 planes?

  • Can we all just boycott WestJet? Fly Air Canada, Porter, Flair

  • I think that what we need to be doing en masse is petitioning transport Canada to change the regulations. If you are unable to safely extricate yourself from a seat, or access the flotation device below your seat, it should be in violation of their travel requirements for an airplane.

  • Planning a trip in the next few months and likely have to fly WestJet.

Is there a website that lists the planes and flights which have these severely compressed seats that are unsuitable for travellers taller than 5'6"?

You can try your best but they can change the plane type at any time

I spoke with someone at Westjet on the phone the other day & they said you can tell from the seating chart when you're booking your flight. If I understood correctly, if there are 6 or more rows of premium/first class seats, it means the plane has the new (worse) seat configuration. But you can't see the plane layout until you've already selected a flight and started the booking process, so it's not the easiest solution.

  • How did you send the feedback? I admittedly didn't try hard but seemed to hit a wall of not having a reservation code to get in touch with them.

Use the “Contact us” link that’s in the footer of every page, then scroll down until you find the “Contact us form” link

  • Is it possible to identofy the aircraft with this stupid configuration? As it was WestJet sucked nutz but if i cant even avoid this bs then there is no way I am flying with them again.

    C-FULJ is one of them

  • Transport Canada should force these airlines to provide more minimum space between seats

  • Blame also the government for allowing that to happen in the first place. Companies do so because they can.

  • Ugh! I just found out that I am booked on one of these sardine cans next week. I tried to upgrade to an Exit row seat but can't because apparently you can only select your seats once and I already did (before learning of the plan configuration). I've reached out to Westjet support to see if they will let me buy the seat. I'm 5'7 and I already find some airlines (talking about you AA) with seats that are way too cramped. I'm not looking forward to this flight. It's for business, so I won't make that mistake again!

  • And bullshit like this is why we booked with air Canada and porter for a trip out west next month. Westjet has gotten obscene. They also charge by far the most for adding baggage. No intention to fly with them again.

  • Madeleine taking it for the team.

  • I’d be more comfortable in a coffin.

  • What a coincidence. I am also closely monitoring guest and employee feedback, and until I start hearing overwhelming praise for their performance, comfort, and suitability, I will continue in my unwavering commitment to never using them.

WestJet is looking for feedback financially not verbal or written complaints.

Just jot rid of my WestJet credit card and won’t fly to protest.

  • Just take Porter Airlines!

  • I would love to see instructions on how to properly get into brace position in these seats

  • Got the same canned reaponse today

  • What a load of corporate doublespeak

  • "Blah blah blah, we checked with the governing body and its safe enough and within our right to stack you in like sardines."

  • Happy to give my money to Porter instead.

  • I’m sure this was sent by “Madeline”. “Nicole” sent me a message. Thank you bot. 🤖

  • Is it a coincidence that the WestJet "Chief Experience Officer" is a former Sunwing executive?

  • I just picked a different seat. On another airline.

If you booked another airline, you should send them a message here letting them know you booked with a different airline! All our complaints matter, but those that show they are losing bookings could really make them act!!

  • I really wish this sub had shown up earlier for me. I am booked with them to London UK and from Paris FR back to home. Had I known about the new seating I would have booked with a different airline.

  • It’s simple. Don’t buy a ticket to ride a torture machine. This shit goes on cuz tickets sell 🤷‍♀️

  • As a 6 ft 79 yr old, I'm not taking any chances no West Jet for me.

  • Got a same email, literally. It’s a script they’re made to follow. I posted this on my posts too.

  • Wow. They really just….. hate their customers. Wow. Never booking them again if there is any other choice. Awesome:

  • Have to feel for Madeleine, what a junk job she must have right now.

  • Unpopular opinion: I don’t mind seats not reclining, half the time I need to recline because the person in front of me does, this way everything is in perfect balance.

  • Just deleted my WJ account, not that I ever used it, you have to pay more for that privilege.

  • In other words Transport Canada knew all about it, meaning Ottawa signed off on this nonsense. Nothing new here, move along. At the end of the day this is on us.

  • Looking at the planes on westjet.com that have this layout - it's only the back few rows .., the rest are normal seats? So if you want a specific seat then choose a fare that includes seat selection, buy a seat or take your chances if you dont care.

  • In other words: “Piss off. We don’t care” Pathetic response from some 20 year old ‘communications’ staffer.

  • We're going to charge you $100 to recline your seat, and if you don't agree with that, then you hate safety. You want zero safety. You want the plane to crash because of such little safety. You want toxic gasses to be released in the cabin because of safety. You want people to die because of safety. Otherwise, you'll pay the $100. Because it is obviously for safety. And reclining.

  • Wait until WJ hears about the ‘Skyrider’ standup flights being developed by Aviointeriors. You complained so much about the seats; we took them away!

  • Very interesting. I received a different answer:

    Thank you for contacting WestJet.

We understand your concerns about the changes to seat spacing and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Please accept our apologies for any worry or inconvenience this may have cause as your plan your upcoming travel.

When configuring the seating on our aircraft, we have to ensure that we are meeting both the needs of our guests and the operational needs of our business while still adhering to Transport Canada’s guidelines. All of our aircraft meet and exceed guidelines for seat size as governed by Transport Canada.

We appreciate how disappointing this is. Please know that we have temporarily paused our cabin reconfiguration while we are monitoring our guests' feedback in order to constantly improve our product and service.

    Our feedback might be working!

  • I am a 6'6 man who books WestJet from time to time.

I may still book WestJet, but if I get put in one of those seats, it won't be my problem, it'll be WestJets problem to solve.

If I get booted from the plane because there aren't any larger seats available, then I am owed compensation under the APPR because this problem is under WestJet's control.

  • Reason 101 why I’ve stopped flying WestJet. Once my preference, now my last - and only if all other options have been exhausted - choice. And that includes changing my itinerary…

  • LOL these guys are cooked. To avoid even the possibility of having to sit in these shitty seats, I will not book on WestJet until every one of them is gone from their fleet.

  • We are all boycotting Westjet, right?

  • These planes are horrible . I am 5’3 and 130 lbs . I was so uncomfortable … my knees hurt . It was awful . My kids were uncomfortable . The entire plane was miserable . It was a 4hr flight and I could not wait to get off it . Absolutely horrible .

Please, please write feedback to WestJet! The only way they will change if they hear from enough people!

  • So in other words, contact transport Canada to get better standards for Canadians?

  • I’ve never been so happy to have a aeroplan visa. I was kinda a bit sad that I went with them instead of the WestJet on but now I am soooooo happy I didn’t

  • Economy seats shouldn’t recline anyways, but this seat pitch is basically a war crime.

  • My partner is literally booking seats for a trip across Canada to join a cruise right now. I told her anything but WestJet. This was the last straw for WestJet.

  • This airline needs to fold and go away like the bad smell it is.

  • I see they left out the word comfort. Safety is a priority as it should be but don’t they want their customers to be comfortable and happy?

  • Problem is I can pay for a legroom seat and then westjet changes your plane with the crappy seats, then what do I have to rebook to a plane with legroom seats

  • I’m 6’4” and my 4 hour flight to the Dominican was the worst flight ever!

  • Where did you send your complaint? I sent feedback on their website days ago and no response. I even put my phone number and requested they contact me.

  • Stop with all these small adjustments of one inch here two inches there. I say bring the standing seats and be done with it.

  • If Westjet is listening, I am simply not booking with you for this reason alone. Serve your customers accordingly, as if your profit margin will crumble by losing 3 or 4 seats...

  • I clicked "no response" because I knew they would have a copy and paste reply that's already been talked about on the news.

  • BS. How many times did they fail the Transport Canada’s rigorous airworthiness standards, before they passed? That's some shady stuff.

Transport Canada needs to be invesitgated and held accountable for this as well.

My husband and I have a background in aviation. There's no way this is safe.

  • I'll translate: "This is a form letter response we're using as a means to pay you lip service until this dies down and becomes accepted."

  • Avoid WestJet if at all possible

  • Can you please share the email to share our concerns.

  • The point they want to make is that if you’re taller than average, and heavier than average, you should be upgrading to economy premium or business. If you don’t like this arrangement then book with a different airline. The issue of course for us here in Canada is that we have no other options. It’s mostly between Air Canada and WestJet and pricing for any destination with either airline is pretty much the same, so we’re pretty much screwed.

  • Noticed they’re not interested in comfort or repeat customers.

  • Bull shit baffles brains 🧠 not with me WestJet

  • F-#%^ that response. I won’t be booking WestJet while they have those seats.

  • Since they are pointing out that transport approved this configuration, we should also contact them

  • I sometimes fly Ultrabasic and I have short legs and I would be happy to sit in one of these seats. No one reclining in front of me would be my dream flight!

Row 10 is hilarious, I might be mistaken but it looks like row 9 can recline but row 10 can't.

I was in a seat like that on Air Canada from TO to Vancouver. I had chosen it myself as there was no indication on the seat map that it did not recline. They credited me $50 when I complained after the flight. Two very large men in front of me and they reclined. Plus, one of the worst flight attendants I have ever had was not having a good day at all......

Ok, but why would you pay the same for an inferior product when you could pay the same and fly with a competitor? Unfortunately westjet didn't reduce their prices when they reduced their seat size

Sometimes it depends on the timing, sometimes on the price, and sometimes on my destination. I live in Western Canada and for better or worse, WestJet has the most (sometimes the only) flights for where I want to travel.

  • Definitely will not fly WestJet until this nonsense is reversed, and may not even then.

  • We booked flights months ago for this coming April, prior to the seating mess. Is there anyway to know what seats were changed? We did choose seating at that time.

  • There's only one way to let WorstJet know how we all feel. I personally will never use them again unless zero options are available. I will also be canceling my credit card and cashing in all my points on their shitty overpriced rewards program

  • Microtransactions advancing the enshittification of everything.

  • They're saying the lower seat pitch still fills Transport Canada's regulation on safety?

    Where's the 90-second evacuation test ?

  • "The Product"

MFers, this isn't a product, it's a service holy shit.

This is an interesting shift. Funny how former products (i.e. software) become services and service becomes a "product."

  • Personally, I really liked the no reclining. As a very tall person, I felt like, though cramped, I had more leg room than post the person in front of me reclining. It was tight but less painful. I am down with the change!

Less painful?? It shouldn't be painful at all.

Once you are tall enough, it's painful! I remember going back like 30 years, my super tall dad would get automatically offered a seat with more leg room. No need to pay extra, they would just offer him a more comfortable seat. Also, flying with a baby, I got to sit front of economy, with extra room and a cot. It was just something nice they would do. Now I have to pay just to ensure my kids are next to me. It's pathetic!

  • Boycott Westjet immediately unless absolutely required. Once they sold to Onex, and then again to Delta and Korean airlines, they were cooked. Private equity has all but ensured the demise of another once proud, Canadian company.

I used to be on the teal juice too, but Westjet was an entirely different company back in the day. Anyone who’s worked there long enough has seen the changes since Onex took over and none of them are good.

  • i am glad they got rid of reclining!! only a holes do that even if it is their right

If they gave ample legroom, reclining wouldn’t be an issue in the first place

  • I genuinely don't understand all the hullabaloo about this. Just don't fly Westjet if it doesn't suit your dimensions.

I know several people that are on the small side and have no issues with the seats relative to how much they're saving.

Because if they succeed and people say nothing, other airlines will follow and soon we will be standing on 8 hour flights!

How much would that cost? I read somewhere that RyanAir was looking into offering standing flights for $10. Standing flights would work up to the cabin height. If you get rid of the carry on stows you could have plenty of clearance for most people.

Ryanair already has cheap flights - you can go from London to Italy (round trip with luggage) for 75 CAD and you sit like a normal person who has some dignity.

Would you pay $10 but have to stand instead? Apparently there are A LOT of people that responded to their surveys saying "HELL YEAH".

I prefer to sit for 40.

That seems like a reasonable upsell IMO. I have been on a Ryanair flight that was $20 once :)

And you were sitting in a normal seat, right?

RyanAIr is 28-30 inch pitch (28 is what this new WestJet config is). I'm honestly not sure what size it was. It was tight for me but acceptable for $20 :)

I'm 6'0 and don't remember being uncomfortable, so maybe I was luckier with the plane 😁

If you’re in western Canada sometimes Westjet is the only option. And wtf not everyone is on the small side. Are you trolling or just being obtuse?

With Westjet no longer being an option for taller people... another airline will enter that market to serve XL sized passengers. Or perhaps there's no market for expensive seats that only fit taller people?

If someone doesn't like Westjet's seats the don't fly Westjet. Why even waste the time to comment on this? If you don't like their product then don't buy it. Gee... someone points out that there are people that are fine with a product and they get told they're "trolling" and "obtuse". A certain President acts the same way about questions he doesn't like. Well guess what, tens of thousands of people have bought this product and most are fine with it.

It would be great if we had more airline competition! But currently we don’t and like I said, many smaller airports have little to no options other than Westjet. People already are boycotting when they can.

Also not everyone is a small person, and not everyone too tall to fit in the seats is an XL sized passenger.

I don’t understand why anyone would be against having sufficient legroom, it benefits everyone. Plus prices haven’t even gone down for these seats, it’s fair to not want to pay the same for less.
