“Refugees” from Romania? How does one claim refugee status from a country that’s a member of the European Union and member of NATO with a stable government?
They’re ethnic gypsies not Romanian, so they claim refugee status because they can state they’re oppressed minority in Romania.
Except they make a complete joke of refugee law when they come here in particular.
EU citizens have mobility and work rights within the EU. So if you're an EU citizen and are being persecuted locally, you should be fleeing to a safe haven where you already have the right to be, rather than ranking faraway countries by how safe/wealthy/gullible they are and choosing the biggest sucker.

If they somehow cross the border into Canada then I guess they can try and claim refugee status here and provide proof of why they can’t just go back to their own country, but they should have done so in the USA when they had the chance.

The whole system is suspect, since status doesn't get granted to the people who deserve it most, per se: it gets granted to whomever tells most convincing tale.

You can dispute your asylum claim in court for 5 years, if youre denied and ordered deported, get a year extension, then dispute the court another 5 years if your PR application is denied.

Romani peoples who are often referred to as gypsies are more Romanian, than most Canadians claiming to br Canadian. Considering they have been there since the 9th century, and migrated to other parts of Europe over the course of millenia.
Roma / Romani and Romania are two unrelated words in two unrelated languages, Roma is indian, Romania - Latin. Romani and Romanian are not related genetically, not related linguistically and just happen to live in the same country (Roma live all over Europe).

They aren’t persecuted. They are prosecuted. And they don’t like that.
They’re persecuted in Romania because they’re expected to learn fluent Romanian, work, pay taxes, and follow laws.
The problem with this argument is that pretty much the whole EU treats the Roma like garbage.
