Hey guys. I’m a developer, and honestly, nakakapagod na makakita ng mga job posts offering $2/hr for specialized work. It’s a race to the bottom and it’s pulling everyone’s rates down.
I’m working on a side project—a job marketplace called HirePinoy.ph where the "floor" is set at $5/hr (around $800/mo for full-time). Basically, if an employer tries to post a job lower than that, the system won't even let them.
The idea is to attract founders who actually value quality and high retention over "cheap labor."
It’s still in the very early stages, but I’ve set up a waitlist to see if there’s enough interest from both sides to actually push through with the full build. If you're tired of competing with lowballers, maybe join the talent pool so I can show employers that the talent is here, we just want fair pay.
Check it out here: https://www.hirepinoy.ph
Just a dev trying to build a better platform for us. Feedback is welcome. Thank you!
Sounds good but i cant see whats in for the employer. How can you back your quality?
True, OP didn't solved the problem the right way since setting the floor is the easiest but doesn't solve the underlying issues.
website looks vibe coded. op already dipped
Yes you’re right! I built the landing page quickly because the problem (low pay / lowballing) is urgent. I’m a developer, but I want to spend my time fixing the hiring problem, not just writing the perfect code. :)
Thanks for the feedback!
It’s about loyalty. Most workers just accept lower rates just to survive, but will quit the moment they find a better offer. Setting the floor to a higher rate, we increase the chance of workers staying in the long run and giving quality work.
Thanks for commenting!
How can you gurantee or vouch for a persons loyalty? Whats in for the employer if he hired someone not loyal enough?
Great question. We can’t control people 100%, but we can make things better. Paying $5 per hour helps workers feel more stable instead of just trying to survive. When people feel stable, they usually stay longer and do better work.
To protect clients, we are strict. If a worker disappears or leaves without saying anything, they are banned from the platform. If a hire doesn’t work out in the first 30 days, we will personally find a replacement for free.
We’re not just giving you a list of workers. We’re setting a standard and standing behind it.
Well why not $10, 15, 20 or 30 or even $100? Anong basis ng $5 ? Trip mo lng tingin mo that should be the floor? As you said more $$$ = more loyal where's the research or study to back up your $5
You didn't even set a standard sa hiring process or even sa criteria ng employer which is supposedly mas focus ka.
It’s all about supply and demand. $2/hr job posting exists because someone is accepting these kinds of offers. If nobody takes them then employers will start increasing their hourly rates.
This doesn’t really solve the problem. Employers will keep using OLJ because they can find cheaper hires there.
Yes you're right. If the employer only cares about the lowest price, they will stay in OLJ. HirePinoy isn't for them. We are for the employers who are tired of 'cheap' hires quitting or ghosting after 2-3 weeks. We want to prove that paying $5/hr is actually cheaper for the business because the worker stays longer and does better work.
Thanks for the feedback!
So this is like exactly OLJ except the minimum offer can't go below $5 per hour? Does it offer anything else?
Blame the indians entering our OLJ site. Kaya nga tinawag syang onlinejobs ph for a reason e. Kainis yang mga yan. Sila sumisira sa supply and demand pricing natin.
Not just them but alot of undergrad kids are also willing to be exploited and take these jobs. One time nakasakay ako sa jeep and unintentionally napatingin sa phone ng teenager in uniform sitting beside me. And she was browsing a group chat discussing job openings for a VA with a very lowball rate like $2/hr.
Seems interesting but you definitely need a lot of word of mouths, connections, or viralities to attract employers here. Job finders such as us here in Reddit are easier to find though.
Will definitely try and take a gander on your website lol
Yes posted it here muna to find workers interested in this idea. Attracting employers is the hardest part and the real challenge for this project. My plan is to build a strong 'Talent Pool' first. This way, I can show employers that workers are ready to join if the pay is fair ($5/hr+).
Thanks for the feedback and checking out the website! Let me know if you have any feedback on the site. :)
Better search the sub, there have been... I think, 4 other people who tried in the past year and so far none stuck. You may be able to collaborate with them or simply learn about their challenges.
Thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely look for those posts. I know this is a hard problem to solve. My goal is to keep this very simple and focus only on the $5/hr floor for now. If you have links to those projects, please share them! I'd love to learn from their challenges.
Mababa pa rin ho ang 5 Kung 5 yan, mag fiverr na lang. Well known pa worldwide.
5usd is still so low so no different from some offers on OLJ. Ang sad kasi madaming nag try mag develop ng same platform, walang nag materialize.
Following this post since I see potential❤️
Thank you for the support! ❤️
Di ba this was one of the features of Remotica? What happened to it? Was it ever launched?

I think you can do better on this one.
I think you can do better on his one.
Eventually would you deduct fees from the freelancer like Upwork does? or do you charge the fees to the client like OLJ does?
Kasi kung sa freelancer then lalabas na hindi $5/hr ang matatanggap ng freelancer.
No deductions for the workers! And yes, we only charge fees to the client like OLJ does. :)
And yung taxes, sir? Panu naman yun since OLJ and Upworks have tax for Freelancers?
Meron na ba? Di na ako active sa OLJ pero parang jobstreet lang siya dati, you apply for the job, the client hires you, yung transactions nyo is outside na ng OLJ kasi nagbayad na si client ng fees to access the roster of freelancers.
Maybe sa upwork may tax na if the govt reached out to them na icharge ang freelancers ng tax, pero si OLJ meron na pala?
Ang baba lol. Sa upwork, nakakuha pa ako ng $20/hr.
Should be around $8/hr, OP.
Who even lives with $800 a month... that's not a decent salary if you have a family
