Hi everyone just wanted to let this one out while looking to hear your thoughts . I’m a 4th year comsci student about to graduate this july (assuming all goes well). Programming has never been my passion nor my interest and even on 4 years of the course i still havent learned to love it. But tldr i still chose this path bec i know it has good money if you’re good at it (more on the practical decision on why i took this course).
I just cant help but feel anxious that im about to graduate and am scared if i can find work in this evonomy let alone its competitiveness in tech. Whenever i try to program it really takes a long time for me to process things and its a bit frustrating how much of a slow learner i am. Whenever i build websites or mobile apps , AI will always have most of the contribution and not me. I feel like an impostor.
I do try to continue studying and building projects while I can but it feels like im not making any progress as to my development in developing software. When i force myself to code without ai it will literally cost me the whole day and even more to analyze myself thenn ultimately i rely on ai again. Even components like search logic i get stuck sometimes and its so frsustrating bec i know how simple it is and yet i cant go around without being able to ask stupid wuestions to chatgpt or cursor….
haysss I understand there are other roles in tech but im striving for a dev role since its sich a high valued skill… as graduation comes near i just cant help but feel lost and worried about my career seeing how most of my peers are like prodigies in their craft. Need advice and help badly…
Mahirap yung ganyan. It's like you're trying to force it upon yourself dahil sa pera.
Dev roles indeed are high-paying jobs, but you need to be really skilled.
If you're not that skilled, how can you compete? And if you can't compete, your anxiety will just worsen over time.
You can use AI but it can increase technical debt, which defeats the purpose of using it in the first place (to save time) if you're not that skilled in coding/troubleshooting.
Take it easy as you're just starting out.
I suggest you do an honest self-assessment of your skills. Aling skills/niche ka mas passionate? Baka may ibang experience ka na? There are a lot of high-paying online niches to choose from. Pili ka which one you can specialize on. It doesn't have to be dev-related.

I guess my final take is natuto ako magprogramming kasi hindi ako pressured matuto like instead of treating it as a job I do programming because its fun.
Ano mga framework or language na ginagamit mo/niyo?
Copy poo, hindi naman like parang chamba lang yung progress ko na 4th year na ako ngayon i think i do know some fundamentals especially since yung nga 4 years in this course na pero maybee need pa ipolish young problem solving skills ko.
Mostly using react and node or c# and .net
