I need help deciding whether or not I'm in the right. I just started last year in the creative industry and I need some opinions from people who's been here longer than me. I'm currently working part-time in a small cat/dog hotel business. I was originally a social media manager so I earned 12k a month, but they decided they want to manage their own socmed and offered me to be only multimedia and cut down my salary to almost half (which is now 7k)
I do mostly graphics on canva, I edit video reels on capcut, and twice a month i go onsite to shoot some videos. I have to produce atleast one content six times a week and occasionally make their collaterals such as their sticker design for their car (for ads), sticker giveaways, etc. I feel like my salary is too low for what I provide for them, but I lack experience when it comes to what is the usual average for part time jobs especially as a multimedia. I would like to know your thoughts and what I should do, I it is low, can I ask for a raise? And how much should be the minimum?.. Thank you!
7k is way too low for all the work you're doing. You can earn double or more with a better employer.
Hi! Thanks for validating me with your experience/thoughts! Ive already written a resignation letter, I wanted to know still how much should I atleast earn from that specific type of workload hahaha gusto ko sana mapoint out yun sa employer ko before I leave
While you're looking for permanent work, I would advise trying to do short-form commissions online to content creators. For example, the usual minimum rate per Tiktok short with minor edits and subtitles is like 5 USD. Build a portfolio with what you can do. And then apply to similar work but with WFH international clients that will pay you 5 USD per hour on average.
Ohh thank you for the advice! May I ask where can you usually find specifically tikok intl clients? :0 so far ive only worked with local employers
Try Linkedin and Indeed. I'm also a content creator myself, so try to get into communities like that. Editors are usually needed since Tiktok is the best way to grow.
Thanks! Ill check them out :>
6 content per week + collaterals + shoots? That's easily 15-20+ hours a week. 7k for that is like 100-150php/hour. Below minimum wage.
They moved you out of the 'social media manager' title, but you're still doing social media manager work. They just rebranded it so they could pay you less.
If you feel like you're being exploited, it's probably because you are. You can try negotiating, but honestly? You'd probably be better off finding a client who actually values what you do.
Hello! Thanks for the validation, The owner mismo, is the socmed manager now which is basically the one thinking of the content but i execute it.. its mostly from chatgpt though.. anyway, I am still curious, For you personally, what should be atleast my salary for that kind of load they make me do? And do you consider my load still for part time?
Oo mababa. 10 days na minimum wage na ang ₱7000 kung nandito ka sa Metro Manila. Since last kong tingin, ₱695 ang minimum wage ngayon.
I see, I wasnt sure if counted yung minimum wage for part timers so hindi ko rin naisipan. That was my bad. Thank you!
