I’m not really a new viewer but I kind of am.

So I watched one originally aired. But I was pretty young nd I watched on and off. But I find it cool the information that I did retain. I wondered if anyone has a similar situation to me???

So I only started re-watching it for the first time it literally since 1997 about a month ago.

I remembered all of the main characters names. I remember their relationships. I remember Willow being a relationship and it being a bit shocking but also cool. (I am now in the LGBTQ+ community so looking by I am so happy it was one of the first to show a long term relationship like that).

I remember being a big Spike fan. I tried to watch Angel but it felt grown up to me and the pace wasn’t for me.

I remember being jealous of Dru and also scared of her lol???

I remember Buffy’s mom dying. I remember that being so sad. (I remember thinking how traumatizing that would be to go through that. Flash forward to now and my mom has died so maybe that’s why it’s stuck with me as I’ve always had that fear.)

Vaguely remember Riley but didn’t like him. I remember Faith being cool and I liked her clothes.

I don’t remember anything from season six or seven so please don’t tell me lol.

I thought Giles was so old. I’m almost his age now which is wild. He’s not old ahah.

I just find it funny now re-watching everything and kind of remembering, but also not remembering a lot of it!

  • I honestly think you’re getting the best of both worlds, because you remember enough to know you love it, but a lot of it will still feel new. Enjoy!

Yes definitely! It’s so interesting. Cant believe I waited this long.

  • I just finished a re-watch with my daughter who was seeing if for the first time. I watched every episode when it came out and I was surprised about how much I retained, especially from the earlier seasons. I had to be careful when my husband and daughter were making predictions because I knew what was going to happen and I didn't want to give away any spoilers. I retained a bit less of the later seasons but I always knew the major plot points and when the episode started it would mostly come back. My daughter's reactions were awesome and it was so much fun getting to experience it for the first time again through her eyes.

That’s so cool. I love that. How old is your daughter?

  • Yep that was me too-- I watched it as a kid growing up as it aired and never bothered doing a re-watch until these past couple of months. It's wild how much I remember and how much I forgot.

One thing I found interesting is that I remember A LOT of scenes/moments from S6-- yet when it was time for the re-watch it was soooo incredibly hard for me to keep going. I went through S1-5 SO FAST! Then I hit S6 and it slowed to a crawl-- took me a month (and a break in between) to get through it. I did not remember hating S6 this much before but I think it's because I was probably too young to properly understand a lot of the character story lines.

That said it was so lovely to go through the entire series with relatively fresh eyes!

I never watched Angel besides a few episodes here and there, then the entire final season only because Illyria looked so cool to me lmao. I'm going through it right now, it's definitely a different vibe from Buffy but I've been enjoying it so far. I'm certainly not binging it like I did Buffy though- it'll definitely take me longer to get through it.

Yeah I watched one episode of Angel and I was trying to watch both at the same time like how it aired. But I was losing momentum with Buffy and I didn’t want that. I’ll go back to it when I’m done Buffy!

How old were you when you originally watched? I barely remembered any episode tbh! Just how some of the characters made me feel lol. I guess I remember vaguely hating Willow and Xander liking each other.

Yeah that's understandable with Angel-- I thought about juggling both once I passed S3 but decided not to. I figured it'd be too much.

I was between 8 - 10 (born in '92) when I was watching Buffy on air. I was WAY too young to be watching it tbh-- especially S6 with the amount of sex Buffy was having with Spike. I have nooooo idea how my parents let me watch it but I don't think they realized the show was adding more mature topics as the seasons went on. We also had more than one TV so I was watching it upstairs lmao. What about you?

I’m 87! I don’t even remember the sex in season 6 hahah I just know I liked Spike but some didn’t like him. But it isn’t a spoiler as I’ve seen in this sub it happens.

You were def young to be watching but I don’t blame you! It was so Popular and everyone watched it

Oh man I loved Spike as a kid! I remember printing out a picture of James Marsters and carrying it around lmao. Folded it up and tucked it away like a school girl crush haha

Hahah love that so much. That’s so real. I would have too but I barely Knew how to print stuff then haha

  • Wish i were you lol. Id give anything to experience the show for the first time again (or something close to it)

It’s really amazing. I can’t believe I forgot so much. I literally don’t even know how it ends!

Lol im much older now. And I've noticed my memory isn't what it once was. Before i could tell exactly what episode, including episode name, a scene or Pic is from. Now not so much lol. So maybe my next rewatch will be fun 😬yay old age!
