Mine is admittedly a musically nerdy one- at the end of the episode "I Only Have Eyes For You," since the episode utilizes the song of the same name by The Flamingos throughout, during the end credits, I would've been so excited if they had played "Zealots" by The Fugees, because that particular song samples "I Only Have Eyes For You."
When they are doing the exchange with the Box of Gavrok for Willow and the lights go out.
Someone gets creeped out by the darkness and Angel says "I can see just fine."
Buffy should have said that too at the same time in the same tone.
Small missed opportunity to remind us(obliquely) of her Slayer powers. There were quite a few of those scattered throughout the series.
I wish we didn't have that scene where Spike chokes out Drusilla. Vampires don't breathe, so that made no sense.
This! Also when vamps are out of breathe, doesnt make sense.
Literally just watched this episode today and forgot how much that bothered me!
I think of it as Dru losing circulation to the brain, not losing oxygen.
In the Buffyverse vampires don't have a heartbeat, so no circulation of blood.
It wasn't air he was stopping, it was blood.
Which is also how humans pass out when choked out in a similar way, not from lack of air coming in, but lack of blood to the brain.
When Angel returns in "Forever", it would have been nice to include a comment that Cordelia sends her condolences about Joyce.
This may be my foggy memory but hadn't Angel fired the crew at this point?
They had just reconciled right before this. “Forever” aired the same night as “Disharmony”.
If we found out early on certain precautions the characters take that gives them a passive bust to their defences, something that explains why they can casually walk around after sunset without a Slayer nearby to protect them and be fine. Like Buffy isn’t the only one wearing cross jewellery, even if it’s a small necklace under their clothes. Maybe Giles wears tweed of a particular pattern that has a cross design in the weave. Willow irons labels into her collars that have Torah verses written on them; I feel like The Word of God would be what repels vampires, not a Star of David, which is more of a cultural symbol of the Jewish people than a religious one. Bring Tara’s paganism into this: a small amulet of a protective goddess can be sewn into the lining of her clothes, now they sell them at the Magic Box for anyone to do the same! Vampires will still attack, but now it’s more believable that they don’t sneak up and slit the gangs’ necks every time they’re distracted.
Also, I will die on the hill that Oz and definitely Xander would take a mini water pistol filled with holy water out every night. And when Angel is annoying Xander by existing, Xander gives it a tiny squirt on Angel’s pants (that’s what she said), Angel spins around in vamp face, Xander almost pisses himself, blames the pistol, never does that again.
NGL, Xander would absolutely do that to Angel because he's jealous and he's passive-aggressive as can be in a character who needs to be liked and respected.
I would have enjoyed an extra scene in Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered where Angelus is trying to figure out what the hell has come over Drusilla and realises she's in love with Xander and is like 'What about Spike? You sired that idiot SPECIFICALLY to be with him forever' and she'd go on and on about how she loves Spike but Xander is just MMMMM and Angelus can't believe what he's hearing. Maybe even a scene where he tells Spike, just trying to piss him off, then Drusilla returns to the house once the spell is broken and Spike is all huffy with her and she's trying to apologize, in her signature, insane way of course.
Would add nothing to the narrative but it would have taken a funny premise (that Drusilla is also affected by the love spell) and made it even funnier. Or probably be incredibly stupid and kill the momentum of the narrative dead. Still though. Would like to see it.
Passion, in the scene where Angelus sees the girls outside the window, I would tell David to play more joy, maybe sincere, childish. This would emphasize Angelus' character.
I too have a musical issue with IOHEFY! The cover of this 1934 song that plays repeatedly through the episode is by the Flamingos, released in 1959. But the flashbacks take place in 1955! There’s no particular reason why it can’t take place in ‘59, too! Boy, I really hope someone got fired for that blunder 🧐
In the Buffy universe, that cover was released at an earlier date at or before 1955.
In Season 3 “Gingerbread” is they mentioned some real world fake hysteria outbreaks like the Satanic Panic and Dungeons and Dragons by name.
If just once someone made a comment about Oz smelling kinda fragrant or smokey.
And then the exact same line used for Tara.
Then maybe Willow saying something in the magic shop like “I guess I like my partners mellow and stones of Malovious!! When did you get these???”
I have a few that come to mind:
I wish we had a scene of Faith and Riley learning of Joyce’s death in As You Were and Dirty Girls.
I wish we had a small moment of Joyce reacting to Angel breaking up with Buffy in Prom. She went to Angel (“I know you care about her. I just hope you care enough”) and it would’ve been great to get a scene which either makes it clear she appreciates he did what she wanted or even maybe some guilt from her as she sees how broken Buffy is over him leaving her.
I would’ve liked a scene of the gang addressing in some way why they hadn’t considered breaking Faith free from prison after Buffy’s death in Bargaining.
I wish they kept the explanation in (it was cut from the script) as to why Giles didn’t attend Xander and Anya’s wedding
I don’t know if this would qualify as a ‘small’ scene given how serious it is but I wish we got a moment between Buffy/Willow that addresses the AR. We don’t even know if Willow ever knew about it, much less getting a moment of support between them.
Andrew trips and breaks his neck in the background as he runs out of the butcher.
Give Angel a real reason to be unable to give Buffy mouth-to-mouth (not that kind, geez) in "Prophecy Girl". He moves air, or he couldn't talk, so he has the physical capacity. Even if it's just that he never learned, it's better than Word of God saying that, "Oh, yeah, because vampires are undead, they can't give the 'kiss of life'."
Related, remove it whenever we can see a vampire's breath. They don't have body heat, and I don't think they metabolize the blood they consume in the same way humans metabolize our food, so their exhalation shouldn't be a puff of warm, wet air just waiting for a chance to condense.
Just one brief scene in S6 of Buffy telling Willow and Tara "I don't know how I'd be keeping things paid without you two helping with the rent and taking care of Dawn" so people would have to stop bring up that ridiculous fan theory.
SPOILER * The "minor" detail I would have loved to add : Anya wouldnt have been.. in the final episode !!
