Just read the first volume of the Boom Studios reboot, and while I wasn’t crazy about the writing and characterization, I did think Dan Mora and Raúl Angulo crushed the art! Loved how they captured likeness while still letting the art feel loose and fluid! I believe they’re only on for the first volume, but still a treat to see their artistic take on the Buffyverse!
the little ridges on the sides of SMG's nose -- iconic, unmistakable. (i have the same ones, it's a little facial detail i used to be embarrassed about til i saw them on SMG.)
omg the art is beautiful
The Likenesses are so good ❤️🤩
I did not personally care for the BOOM! modern retelling.
But I loved the Tunaverse. 😅 I still think that's funny.
And liked that Cordelia ruled the school through niceness rather than being a diva. That was a good change.
The art got so bad the longer the boom comics went on. I've recently got back into reading Superman and Batman comics after a very long time, and have been really enjoying Dan Mora's work with DC! He's better served there than he was with Buffy
It's a shame he didnt last long on the title and that the art just kept going down
I just wish he had better material to work with!
The writing and characterization could have been better but I loved the Boom Buffy comics and how Dan Mora drew Buffy and the rest of The Scooby Gang.
The only thing good about this comic is Dan Mora's art. In two issues they rushed 3 seasons of Buffy instead of just trying something new.
He really does capture not only their bone structure but their peculiar facial expressions. Like I can imagine a real life reference shot for each of these I feel like
wait! this is soooo good!
Dan Mora love in buffy subreddit ❤️✌️ my goat is going places
He’s already arrived!
They're perfect.
You can tell it's the comics because Giles is a supportive father figure. That ain't Giles.
