Located in USA. Room is 16’ W x 16’ D with 12’ ceilings. I’m looking to spend up to $500. This is a soft budget limit though and would spend more (up to $1000) if an option made a significant difference.
I’m intending to project an image up to 10’ in height. Depending on finding an impact screen setup (all I’ve seen are limited to 10’ in height and a projector without vertical offset, I’d be interested in getting the image as close to 12 feet in height as possible. I’m open to your recommendations here as well.
I’d be fine with a 4:3 screen (if pushing to 12’) or 16:10 (if staying at 10’). I do think taking full advantage of the height would be pretty awesome if possible.
So far, the best options I’ve see are a viewsonic PJD6552LWS (well under budget used on eBay) and the Optoma GT1080HDR. I think I would be ok with WXGA resolution but would like your thoughts on the value of full HD for this setup.
I believe I would need a throw ratio between 0.5 and 0.8 based on the above dimension.
The room can be very dark if needed but I’d be interested in what level of lumens needed for this size of screen.
I would also be interested in this setup doubling for casual movies, sports, and playing older video games. I’ve never been very picky with TV image or resolution.
