I am in the hunt for the best américain préparé in town. I was surprised not to see this question being asked here before so please shoot me your best recommandations.
Cortoos in Jette.
Try their 'Brussels Americain' sold on Sundays only.
Their regular americain is very good too. Decent meat to sauce ratio. (65-35%, compared to 40-60% in Delhaize or Carrefour)
As far as butcheries go, the best one I found was from Roland in Ixelles: https://www.traiteur-roland.be/en/
Beware of the one from Carrefour as some are made with a mix of pig (mostly) and beef (not a lot) meat to save cost.
The restaurant Canterbury near “Etangs d’Ixelles”, previously named Niels, the creator of the first americain prepare which is still served there following the original recipe… second best to the homemade one!
For Restaurants, au Savoy, Vieux Saint-Martin and Le Grand Forestier. I use to work as staff member for the family and even tho the management was dog shit, we were allow to eat americain for free during our lunch breaks and it was pretty good.
a bit unrelated, but the best I eat in Brussels is generally the one we do at home. If you are a bit picky about ingredients and have a good butcher, it's reallly satistfying and quite easy to do "restaurant grade" at home.

Américain préparé du chef from Roland is the best I know.

Comptoir de Tom
Au savoy
Carnivore or Relais de St. Job, Place St. Job Uccle.
For Restaurants, au Savoy, Vieux Saint-Martin and Le Grand Forestier. I use to work as staff member for the family and even tho the management was dog shit, we were allow to eat americain for free during our lunch breaks and it was pretty good.
Au Vieux Spijtigen Duivel has my favourite
La Terrasse at Merode used to be decent
Rollier in Anderlecht!
The original Américain Préparé was invented by the family Niels, that owns this restaurant https://auvieuxsaintmartin.be/en/our-history/ if you want authenticity
Seconding this, it's really very good.
And their Jupiler as well, for some reason it seems fresher in a way.
Viande haché, moutarde, jaune d'œufs, sauce anglaise, sel et poivre, tabasco, persil, oignon, mayo.
C'est tout.
T’as oublié kappertjes

To put on bread: Dierendonck
If you're talking about restaurants, they've become far too expensive for what they are.
Purists will say that the best is still the one you make yourself.
If you don't want to prepare it yourself, the best is the one from your local butcher.
Although... as a guilty pleasure, the one from Carrefour/Delhaize does the trick when you have a last-minute craving.
delhaize "aux fines herbes" is not healthy but is GOOD for a supermarket food
Mmmmh "toast canibale" with Worcestershire sauce...

they’re all good
Delhaize
