Hi y'all. I've been using Waterfox since before I swapped from W10 to Kubuntu and have really enjoyed it as a platform but since swapping have noticed that it eats up an eyewatering 1.8 GIGS of memory. This borderline-Chromium resource hogging is straight up unacceptable, so I'm wondering if there are any alternatives y'all would recommend. I've heard of Librewolf from my friends and might try it out but figured I'd just cast as wide a net as possible before settling on one.
Any responses are appreciated, thanks!
can you install more ram? what are your hardware specs?
I just bought some more since the ram prices probably aren't coming down any time soon, but while I wait for it's arrival (and because 2+ gigs of memory use is unreasonable) I'd like an alternative.
As for my total specs, i7-10700k, EVGA 3080ti, 16gb 3200 DDR4, 2 1TB M.2 SSDs
1.8 gigs? The operating system will handle all of that. Just use your computer. 1.8 gb is not that much unless you've only got 4
Sorry if you saw my previous comment, I completely misread your post lmaoooo
But also, 1.8 gb is really not that much when it comes to browser usage, honestly its less than what I would normally expect
Unless you somehow have less than 8gb of ram and need to have your browser open at all times I would just say to keep using it, 1.8 is a very normal number for a modern browser
If you really want performant then I would try Helium, or the terminal based Lynx browser for basic searches and document reading
Other than that, just close your browser when youre not using it lol
in another comment i saw you have 16 gb of ram, why are you panicking? 1.8 gb of ram is good, actually less than normal.
