Me and someone I used to work with used to say happy new year to each other religiously for years, no matter what the first time of year we spoke to each other was.
This went on for five years, sometimes it would be summer.
Even if I say it'll be alright
Still, I hear you say, you want to end your life
Now and again, we try to just stay alive
Maybe we'll turn it all around, 'cause it's not too late
It's never too late
feel free to say it if its ur first time talking to that person this year, youve got till like feb probs if ur only just seeing them :). no one will judge dw!

anyone i speak to or email for the first time this week gets a HNY.
From Monday morning next week the year is no longer new, even if i haven't spoken to you since 2025.
The year is new until I remember to write 2026 in stead of 2025 on paperwork.
So sometimes in February.
This is the way
This is the way. This week is free game, next week I would only do it in special circumstances.

well, who's to say it ever was.
the greeting is a wish, not a prediction
If it's the first time I'm seeing em this year it's a happy new year for at least 2 weeks

If my local shops are to be believed, it's almost time to start wishing people a happy Easter.
Almost time? Spar has easter eggs on Christmas eve!
End of next week will be my personal cut-off
I comprise by asking people if they had a good Christmas and new year.
I'm over saying it by January 2nd.
Ive stopped now. One week is long enough.
It's never too late. I will say it to people the first time I see them for that year and if that's in 6 months time then so be it.
Usually by march I've given up though.
January 3rd should be the cut off imo.
7th Jan is the cut off
I agree, one week is enough. After that point, it's not new
I'm ready for the next one tbh.
Until the 25th of January, as would be roughly in line with F1's old 107% rule
Feb 13th. After that you say 'i love you'
"Belated happy New Year"
The cutoff is as soon as possible. I feel awkward using greetings.
My family's Nigerian so they probably won't stop saying it to whoever until Christmas
I heard it several times today in the office - go for it!
Well, according to the Julian calendar New Year doesn't start until 14 Jan...
First encounter of someone this year it's OK through January.
After that it's still OK as long as it's being done ironically.
I like Larry David's take on the matter - you can say it until the 4th. Once the calendar ticks over to the 4th, that's it.
HAPPY NEW YEAR YEAH?
YEAH YEAH MATE YOU HAD A GOOD CHRISTMAS?
"You having a good year so far?"
Happy belated New Year mate
If they haven't said it to you then you can't feel too bad about it. Equally if they have, then surely it's fair game to say it back to them.
First week = fine.
Anytime after = nooooooo
I only ever do it reciprocally so there's no stress. I doubt anyone is offended if you don't anyway
Yes, just say “Happy Year” at this point to be safe
The first time you see them within the first week.
