Hey! Life happens. Maybe we don’t have to read the same book, we can still gush about the ones we chose to read instead.

  • I'm reading the talisman. It's my husband's favorite book, apparently. I'm not super far in, but I'm angry about the way the chapters are done. I hate a book that doesn't start chapters on new pages! Ahh!

    Holy crap that sounds frustrating.

  • I am in the middle of reading To Paradise by Hanya Yanagihara. I’m also reading The Matrimonial Advertisement by Mimi Matthews for when I don’t have the headspace for To Paradise. And then on audiobook I’m reading The Heartbeat or Wounded Knee by David Treuer for when I’m cooking/cleaning/working out/running errands. And also on audiobook I’m reading The Guest List by Lucy Foley for when I’m at work.

Wow, how do you keep all the storylines straight?

The only time I tend to get things mixed up is if I’m reading similar genres. Right now they’re all different genres so it’s not confusing to me

  • I am reading Again, Rachel by Marian Keyes. The first book Rachel’s Holiday is one of my favourite books which is completely random because normally I like crime and thriller type books. I am about 1/3 of the way through - it hasn’t grabbed me like the first, but maybe I am at a different point in my life! Still enjoying it though.

It is so hard to love the first one and feel kinda eh about the second or third. Happened that way with The Magicians, I loved the first one. Took me like a year or more to read the second one because I just couldn’t get into it, but ended up powering through to not spoil it with the show. I have started the third one like 3 times now, had to reread from the beginning of the book at least once because I forgot everything going on. By the time I get back to it I’ll probably have to read it again.

  • I'm halfway through The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake. Really loving it so far. Tried to read The Priory of the Orange Tree last week and gave up. Super interesting but way too many names and locations

  • I finished books 1 and 2 of Sarah J Maas new series Crescent City. Eh.

Then I’m back to same old historical romance, since they are my quick reads.

I seem to be in rut. Might try to go back to checking out The Expanse series. I sorta gave up on the world building of book 1 and lost interest.

I read the first Cresent City but not the second. There was zero explanation or backstory. She just jumped into the story without explaining anything

It’s a slow trickle of backstory, but I’ll tell you with no spoilers- I’m so sick of Danika.

  • I just finished up Act your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert. It's the last of the Brown Sisters trilogy, and while it's not super deep, it was a light fun read, with some 💦
