Hello, I just wanted to ask everyone for their map pin points of where you believe his remains could be and why.
I personally think he fell somewhere as no personal belongings he was carrying with him were found on land.
Somewhere in this area. If no one has taken him, he must be somewhere near that abandoned farm, or even on it. In my opinion, he fell into an unmarked well or ditch, although a sinkhole is also a likely possibility. He could have fallen in, hit his head, lost consciousness, and died, and then been covered by earth. No wonder his body, phone, and personal belongings were never found. His last words were “oh shit” and then silence. I know from some sources that his father apparently heard the ground collapse under Brandon. However, I don't know if this information is true, so I can't say for sure. But yes, if no one else took him, he must be somewhere in that area. A thorough search with drones, lidars, sonars, and ground-penetrating radars would, in my opinion, yield some results.
It’s some sort of hole. The top right photo is from Bing. It was cracked up concrete in bad shape. Then in the bottom right the photo is from Google maps after it was apparently repaired. It’s near where Brandon went off-road at the farm. What was it? Why was in need of repair? Was that area searched? It’s along the river but falls just outside the WMA on private land.
The photos from Google Maps look like some kind of well to me. On the Bing map, however, it looks a bit like a sinkhole that Brandon could have fallen into. I don't really understand what you mean by “repairing” this place. Are you suggesting that someone tried to cover it up? I'm not sure if this place has been searched. I know from reliable sources that the owner of this “abandoned” farm agreed to a search, as that's where the trail led. There are many inaccuracies surrounding this issue, and people often confuse the facts by saying that the farmer did not agree to a search of the property, which is not true. The place is located not far from this farm. Brandon mentioned to his father the fences he passed and the sound of water he heard moments before his last words. The object you point to is located not far from the fields next to the farm (fences?) and practically next to the Yellow Medicine River (the water heard by Brandon). The broken trail on the gravel road, far from the place you indicate, doesn't quite fit here. However, I think you may be right. If you are from the US, I would recommend reporting this to the local police in Minnesota. The police have been receiving anonymous tips for years and check the place from time to time, so I think there would be no problem with that.
I’m not saying it’s a cover up. I’m saying that the opening was larger (square) at one point and looks like it’s surrounded with broken concrete. It looks like a trip hazard and if it is some kind of drainage was the area around it unstable? Could he have fallen into it or near it then soil collapsed? Old cisterns can contain water and dangerous gases. Drainage could get stopped up with debris and trap someone inside it instead of flowing out to the river. Might explain why investigators say that he’s in the water shed somewhere according to dogs.
It's a pretty reasonable theory. That's why, years later, dogs were able to pick up the scent in various drainage areas, even near Mud Creek, which is quite far from where he went missing. As I said, if you live in the US, I would recommend reporting it. It's quite possible that his body is there.
My thought is that it looks dangerous in the Bing photo. It looks like either a cistern or a culvert leading to the river.
1. If the rain/run-off over the years washed out areas around it and soil became unstable someone could fall and soil collapse.
2. If someone slipped in the broken/damaged concrete they could have slipped in and succumbed to dangerous gases, drowned, collapsed a layer of soil and debris and became buried/hidden/ trapped.
3. If that is drainage/culvert it seems at least 50 feet from the river. If someone became trapped within the culvert and stuck by limbs and other debris would they be heard? Discovered? Succumb to the elements?
i’ll be visiting the area with some of my buddies soon, don’t expect to find anything but it’d be an adventure, i live roughly 30 minutes away from marshall, currently in the works of finding trailed locations, possible areas, and trying to retrace the steps of a drunk 19 year old, i’m only 18, so i feel like i’ll be just as reasonable in going somewhere as he was. I’ll take photos and keep people updated.
A drone fitted with thermal camera and ground penetrating radar could search those fields without harming the farmers' crops. If they aren't permitting a search like that, they know something.
Died on the farm
I think searching the irrigation systems on the farms surrounding his last known path would yield something new.

What is it? I can't see anything.

In some abandoned well
The smaller property on the river and road.
The one that the farmer refused to let authorities search.
The body probably got plowed over unbeknownst to the farmer at first.
Top left of the area
On one the farm properties that the cops weren’t allowed to search maybe?

This is super interesting. Can you give me your thoughts on it

It would be amazing if you actually came across his belongings or his remains. Yes do keep us updated and enjoy your adventure
Any updates?
I think he got hit by a car then they took his body
