  • Here we go again. Hope studios actually show up ready to negotiate instead of slacking off until a strike feels inevitable.

Strikes happen when each side thinks that the other is overplaying its hand. Whether things are contentious again this year mostly depends on which side actually got hurt worse by the last set of strikes and on whether both sides agree on the answer to that question.

which side actually got hurt worse by the last set of strikes

I remember people on social media were saying that the various streaming sites (Disney+, HBO Max, Paramount+, etc) would suffer from subscribers dropping them due to lack of new content - only for that not to happen.

In fact, due to a mixture of the pandemic interruptions and new TV shows taking a year or two in between seasons, it could be argued that not as many people noticed this strike this time around in comparison to 2008's.

I think last time studios underestimated the guilds' willingness to strike and thought they'd give up in a month.

The guilds also underestimated how willing studios were to collapse production and purchase shows from abroad.

The last strike ultimately resulted in significant harm to the unions themselves.

    50/50 sadly I feel like

I don’t think there will be another strike especially so soon after the last one, they’ll resolve it

  • Here we go again !

  • Yay more 2-3 year waits for good tv…

  • Can someone explain I thought they already did their negotiations like a year or two ago is it that close together they renegotiate or is this different?

They negotiate new deals every 3 years but word around the town is the studios are going to make a play for a deal longer than 3 years this time.

Oh thank you I can’t believe it’s been already been 3 years! I wonder if there will be a strike again?

Difficult to say. Hopefully the studios have been honest about their use of AI and keeping true to the 2023 agreements.

Feel like AI is just getting worse 😬

  • Ah shit here we go again and if this ends up happening, then I honestly think a decent chunk of 2026 films will be affected

Gotta be at least one of the reasons why Secret Wars is starting production in January Disney want in the can before the contract expires in June

Where did you see that it's starting in January? They don't film until the Summer. They still have Doomsday reshoots to do.

  • If this strike happens Avengers Doomsday is getting delayed to 2027.

Brand New Day would move into the December 2026 slot.

Also I’m concerned that Dune Part Three will almost move to 2027 just like Dune Part Two was supposed to come out in November 2023 because being moved to March 2024

Yeah it def will if there's a strike

  • I hope their won’t be another strike impacting any movies coming in late 2026 just like late 2023 films that were impacted by the strike where several films including Dune Part Two were moved to 2024 where in 2026 if the strikes happen, films like Dune Part Three, Digger, Avengers Doomsday, Werewulf, probably Narnia would get push back to 2027
