I can only speak from personal experience, but I’ve never met anyone here in Japan that liked even the first one. Everyone I know that had seen it only saw it because there was nothing like it at the time. By the time the second one came out, the novelty wore off and no one seemed interested.
This was a big increase from last week for Kokuho, also it had a lot more seats this day than a few days ago.
Still really good for Zootopia 2 as well. It's passed the original Zootopia's mark of 7.6 billion Yen and at the end of Sunday it will enter the Japanese all time 100 grossing movies with over 8 billion Yen. On track to end about 15 billion Yen, or 18th place of all time.

Zootopia 2 100M +
Avatar is dead there.

So did every Japanese agreed in not going to see Avatar?
The decline in interest is wild, considering how well the first movie did there.

Extraordinary!
100M-150M in Japan.
Difficult to know for sure where it will end up.
Woah… that is really good for Zootopia 2 holding well in Japan while Avatar Fire And Ash still rough those numbers and behind The Way Of Water
🔝🤩👏🏻 zootopia 2
Chenso nearly there...
CHENSO SAMA A LITTLE MORE
Possibly 150M for Zootopia?
Crazy
Avatar 3 is a week, but Zootopia looks insane

MASSIVE up for CSM 🙏
despite heavy, HEAVY competition, it will manage to break 10b yen
10 billion yen milestone for CSM incoming...
Five Nights at freddys already come out?
I don't know if that's getting released in Japan at all.
January 30th.
Apparently not big enough of a release for Toho Cinemas to mention it as "Coming Soon"
EDIT: It's actually January 23rd
Why Zootopia 2 had a drop there of 14% when holiday is going there ?
Christmas isn't a public holiday in Japan, so you won't see an increase on Boxing Day like in Europe
Maybe yesterday was so wild that today dropped?
No, it wasn't that wild, it's just that Christmas and Boxing Day aren't as big as days off work as they are in the West.
what a waste of time premiering in japan and skipping Korea.
James Cameron should blacklist japan for any future movies.
That low for avatar? It seems Japanese don't understand cinema.
Avatar 2 was low too. The first Avatar was big in Japan, but after that, they just abandoned it.
They love Zootopia more. Based Japan
