They're in the middle of CBA negotiations right now so everything is kind of on hold until that's figured out, but yeah unfortunately it's basically official
That’s sad, because what WNBA player would want to live in Texas? The league has quite a few players who are LGBTQ and Texas just doesn’t seem like a very friendly place for them to live. So you really have to question the league’s decision.
Eh, with the repeal of Roe v Wade, I think the straight WNBA players have much more to worry about living in Texas. (E.g., get criminally prosecuted for miscarriages, not being able to get basic treatment for a non-viable ectopic pregnancies that threaten the mother's life until her vital signs begin to drop, etc.)
That’s a very valid point. You are right. That’s probably a more substantial problem considering all players would be affected by it. Thank you for your comment.
I should add I'm not talking about elective abortions early in the pregnancy where any middle-class or above person should easily be able to afford travel to a blue state (for much less than the costs of a pregnancy) get prescribed pills for medicated abortion, which Texas' forced-birthing laws would do nothing to prevent. It's just the emergency stuff for women who want to have children that their laws are super cruel to.
Never said there wasn’t. But come on my dude you have to admit that Texas isn’t a very friendly place to that particular community. Also judging by your other posts and comments you seem to not have a very high regard for women in general. Not knocking Houston because it seems like a nice city but the state in general is not as friendly to that community as say a state like Massachusetts.
Mohegan Sun wanted to sell the "New England" WNBA team (the Connecticut Sun) and Pags (former Celtics minority owner) tried to buy the team for record $325M and move to Boston. The WNBA league office has to approve all sales and blocked the sale to move and sell, instead seeming to let them move and sell to Houston Rockets owners for $250M (Houston Comets), though nothing is final yet. The rationale is that the WNBA wants to get paid for both the relocation and the expansion team fee. If CT Sun moves to Houston and an expansion team is brought into Boston, the WNBA league gets paid twice. If Houston gets an expansion team and the Sun move to Boston, it's just under the minimum distance allowed in their rules for not having to pay relocation fee, so WNBA league only gets paid once.
Kornet was literally one of the best 7 foot 3 point shooter ever in college. He nailed a bunch in a summer league game. I don’t know if I’ve seen him take 5 total in real games.
He did it something like 25 times before he got here, with the Knicks and Bulls.
He's talked about it a little, said he realized there was no way he was becoming the best stretch big of all time and decided to work on the traditional big man stuff so he'd be able to stick.
In his first 3 seasons he was taking 3.7 a game, even in his fourth season where he was traded here first stint, he took 2 per game as a Celtic. It was only after that, starting his 5th season until now, that he stopped taking threes.
It's probably top 460 in the world. i would not be surprised in there were 10 guys who were better than the bottom 10 bench guys playing in Saudi Arabia, China, or something and getting treated like a king.
NBA teams also try to fill the bench with cheap contracts with high upside. I’m sure there are plenty of veterans who are currently better than bench players but are playing elsewhere.
Euroleague would be the answer. Washed NBA stars go to China all the time and look like prime MJ. Doesn't happen in Europe, and there's a lot of legit ballers crossing the Atlantic to be studs here.
More than that. There are some properly good players outside the NBA with weaknesses that make them bad role players, or too old to now get a shot, or whatever.
Bryce Cotton (US player in Australia) has been 'better' than plenty of NBA bench players through much of his career. But he's turned down ten days, he's pretty ball dominant, and he's a very small shooting guard type so to stick in the NBA...
Yeah...pretty tough.
Want the math on that? Democrats were founded by slave owners who didnt want to give up slaves. KKK was founded by democrats 3/5ths law, democrats. Learn what the people you think are about are actually about.
I’m curious to see how a passing big man like Amari will translate in the league after a few years. However, I shouldn’t really expect too much from the 46th pick who’s already 23
It's reasonable not to expect much but also a little funny "46th pick who’s already 23" is basically what Garza was. I'd definitely like to see what he looks like with nba reps next season but also hope were not in a situation where we'd have to rely on that.
Ever since Brad got here, players develop like crazy in Boston. I don't know how that's translated across coaching and the front office, but he's the common denominator.
I'm in complete agreement with this take. Hugo gives us an energy I haven't seen since Smart was a Celtic, but it's also super rare that he makes the wrong decision on offense. I see his floor as an elite roll player/glue guy, and ceiling as a 3rd option on a contending team while being a top 5 wing defender in the league. There's just so many little things that are hard to teach that seem instinctive to him, it's hard to believe the kid isn't even 20 yet.
Caitlin Clark to Celtics confirmed.
Yeah too bad the wnba STOLE OUR FUCKING TEAM AND GAVE IT TO HOUSTON 😭
Was that sale ever made official? TBH I've been fuming over the whole thing so I haven't bothered keeping up with it.

Trust me, the lesbians in Houston do very well for themselves lol

lol. Someone think of the lesbians!
Wow dude really?!?
I’m a clue you in big sjw dog there is plenty of lgbqt in Houston

That’s a shameful dirty straw man tactic and every one of your comments have been trying to throw shade and insult me. Do better
You do better and stop calling women slurs. Anyone can search your past comments. Good day sir.
There is nothing wrong with my comments. No slurs either. That’s a dirty straw man tactic indicating low character.
Your first post was ignorant AF by the way and you have tried to insult me every comment you make. Get well soon
My favorite sjw's are jesus, MLK, and Lincoln. The big dogs fr
what happened?

I get that the league wants this as a business decision but come the fuck on lmao why does everything have to be this way?
I think she could be a spot up shooter at end of halves
He was national player of the year. I think people knew who he was
people see someone on an nba bench and assume they can’t do shit. most of them were absolutely dominating every level before the nba

And I believe he's the answer to some really obscure NBA trivia involving made 3s and blocked shots in a game, I think?
Nba bench is still top 450 in the league
World, you mean world.
It's probably top 460 in the world. i would not be surprised in there were 10 guys who were better than the bottom 10 bench guys playing in Saudi Arabia, China, or something and getting treated like a king.

30 teams with 10 guys on the bench is 300 allowing for college players and over seas guys it is probably more like 350. I just did the math for you.
Oh I assumed they meant 450 were in the league and g league or whatever
Must be democrats they dont understand math
Yeah, famously the Democrats are the ones with a bad education. /S
Want the math on that? Democrats were founded by slave owners who didnt want to give up slaves. KKK was founded by democrats 3/5ths law, democrats. Learn what the people you think are about are actually about.
Can imagine Garza coming over here to Australia to play. He'd be a problem.
(Actually Sam Mennenga reminds me of the NBL version of him)
Ikr. Luka Garza was a big thing coming into the nba draft. he wasn’t a top prospect but he was a big name from college.
NGL, I probably can’t name a national player of the year for decades. I had no idea Garza was a standout in college.
watch his college highlights. he was an absolute beast at Iowa
I'm pretty sure PP was one lol
I had no idea.
Was a hater but numbers don’t lie, mazulla could walk across the Charles with how he’s coached random bigs over the years
He and the entire Cs development staff really are center whisperers
my guilty pleasure is amari williams highlight reels
I’m curious to see how a passing big man like Amari will translate in the league after a few years. However, I shouldn’t really expect too much from the 46th pick who’s already 23

I'm still broken up about how Tacko Fall didn't work out.

Luke Garza is only going to get better as a stretch big 💯💯
damn she a real one, when can she suit up for us?
Every Iowa fan knew. I gotta get the jersey now while I can.
i haven’t been able to find his celtics jersey! i hope to soon.
Every wolves fan too, he is probably the GOAT garbage time legend for the wolves

Four plus years ago when we had him in for a pre draft workout
Good call man. Now predict something else for us
This has been my mission

I was dead the fuck wrong on Walsh.
Hand up.
Lisan Al Gaib?
I wanna hate on you for quoting yourself but props where due mate...pretty damn specific/accurate.
Brad knew too
We should hire her to our FO or coaching staff when she retires.
Fuck it, just release a Caitlin Clark special edition Celtics jersey. It'll sell.
I'm an Iowa fan and was stoked at the signing, then bummed at the benching.
Thrilled that he's come through the other side!
