Brother quick question for you. First congratulations!
Have you heard that men in relationships have to be the emotional anchor? Meaning if the situation is a high emotional situation you’re supposed to be the person to deescalate it? I was told this by my woman and was like……that’s just my responsibility?
I'm not OP but I am married. In the 10+ years I've known my wife, there have maybe been 3 instances where I had to look her in the face and explain to her point blank that a situation she created wasn't my fault and that her feeling some kind of way about that situation wasn't my problem. It's an extremely rare occurrence. It's not that I'm better than my wife or anything. It's that I just happen to be more pragmatic. My wife has a history of dealing with trash men when we met. So her playbook for relationships was that emotional rollercoaster style of emotional involvement. I don't really do that. So she's had to adjust because dating me, by her own admission, is better than dealing with those other dudes. That meant learning to have more mature conversations about our feelings and accepting that sometimes she was the person who was wrong. If I thought I needed to constantly validate every feeling and thought she had to placate her emotional instability, we would not be together.
The woman who told you that most likely has 0 accountability for herself. If she doesn't have the ability to deescalate issues when she may have caused the escalation, she needs to be avoided. That's a quick way to end up in all kinds of messed up situations that will put your safety and/or freedom at risk.
Respect to you Brotha. Happy Anniversary to you and your Ol Lady may she be the best for you til ripe old age but make sho you take care of her as well. Reciprocation is 🔑.
Can't be a King without a Queen. And she cant be a Queen without a King.
