Just out of curiosity. I technically didn’t go to high school with him because I transferred schools right after he joined but I nearly went to High School with Kyler Murray. But my Junior year I was teammates with WR/KR James Proche. I just checked his Wikipedia and he’s currently on the Tennessee Titans.

My most notable memory of him was in practice he was a freshman on varsity and I was a junior, we were doing 1 on 1 drills I was up against him playing press man and he ran a fade route with the quickest release ive ever seen, at that point I knew I was beat from the jump, but the pass was under thrown, I actually caught up to him, I never turned my head around, I put one arm up in his face, and he still jumped up mossed the shit out of me in the end zone. Man I was embarrassed at the time lol

  • One of my classmates got the Olympic gold in track & field a few years ago. Edit: TWICE, gotta put respect on it.

    Fred Kerley?

    Way hotter, Shaunae Miller.

    Cool thanks!

    Cools thanks!

    You're welcome!

  • Went to middle school with Karl Anthony towns

  • I don’t think anyone in my high school made the league but I was a pretty solid basketball player in my little town. So I start going to basketball camps in the summers. Now I’m all of sudden playing against some of the best ballers in the country. A ton of future div 1 players, at least 5 future NBA guys (I bet way more I just can’t confirm), and probably at least one guy who might make the HOF. I had never played with dudes who were so much bigger than me but also stronger and faster..lol. Normally when you are smaller than a guy you tend to be faster!..lol

It was the best thing to happen to me at that age. I came home and decided the NBA was definitely out of reach so I better start getting in them books!..lol.

you shouldn't have given up so easily lol

More parents need to tell their kid to give up lmao

I have a bunch of cousins and friends whose only goal in life was to make it to the league, and many of them even kept this dream up til 15/16 years old

They all did terribly in school and everyone of them started trapping by 18

    The AAU-to-streets pipeline is real

  • Nope, but apparently I’ve had the sloppy seconds of Ladanian Tomlinson and Eddie George.

    Same... except with Khalil Mack

  • Not gonna dox my self but I one of my classmates made it to the nfl. He was on the practice squad for a few years, got signed, and waived after a few games.

  • I went to high school in Alaska with Mario Chalmers

  • I played football with my cousin, Clinton Hart.

He went to the NFL, I went to the Army.

His little brother, Keanu Neal went to the NFL as well.

I’m pretty familiar with Keanu Neal

With 20/20 hindsight, was he born with it, or did he practice like crazy? Or both?

Both. Their older brother, Kelly, was damn near Barry Sanders level in High School, but he went to prison, and Cedric was a beast too, but he didn't want to be overly committed to sports.

Keanu was two years old when I joined the Army, so I don't know his history like that, but the WHOLE family is athletically inclined.

  • Went to high school with former NFL player Aaron Ross of the Ravens/Giants

Super Bowl champion CB Aaron Ross🔥🔥

Ah you've heard of him🥰My sis and him graduated hs same year.I was student athletic trainer back then so I knew him as well.I graduated in 03.They did in 01

I’m a Cowboys fan so I’m familiar with him in our division lol

As am I,and a Texans fan.I just wanna say thank you😅😂😂🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

  • Played with a guy who got drafted as an OT. Not a big time player but he’s still in the league. So pretty good for him.

  • I went to high school with someone that played in the NFL. WR and had a productive career, over 5000 yards. Drafted 53 overall.

We had an art class together although he was never there lol

    Is he Peerless Price?

He is. Meadowdale Dayton Ohio. I graduated in 1997. I think he came out in 95 or 94

  • Damn we probably graduated around the same time, 2015-2018 range. I also went to a school in the metroplex.

I know two people in the NFL and a few playing in the NBA and overseas. DFW breeds high level athletes.

Nah I’m unc graduated hs in 2013

  • Most famous athlete from my high school was Charles “Spider” Smith who went to the NBA. He also played in the European leagues.

  • Shelton Quarles Tampa Bay Super Bowl, Johnathon Reid Boxer, David Vaughn Jr NBA…my high school had athletes!

  • Went to high school and played basketball with Eddy Curry. Cool solid dude. My cousin went to school and played ball with Derrick Rose.

  • Played bball at a YMCA in Charlotte w the Curry brothers. Had no clue who they were.

I'm sure they stood out though, right?

Oh absolutely. They were dunking. We were like 12 or 13

  • I attended Oakland Tech, I went to school with NFL Quarterback Josh Johnson and Marshawn Lynch, Marshawn and I also share the same birthday

  • Went to middle school and first year of high school with Dansby Swanson (mlb baseball player).

  • Went to middle school with Brandi Chastain.

  • Class of 2011 from New Rochelle, NY went to school with and had a few classes with Jordan Lucas who played for these teams NFL teams Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts. Also another person from my high school who got drafted to the Yankees right after graduating was Matthew Duran.

  • Micheal Porter Jr. played at a middle school in my town and some high school ball before transferring to finish high school ball in Washington

  • Technically? Jake Ganus graduated the year after me. He played LB at Georgia and I think he got picked up by the Vikings as an UDFA.

  • Yes, quite a few...

I went to school in Texas, and they breed athletes down there!

When I was a Freshman Scott Kazmir was a senior. He was already a 4 year lettermen in baseball. He would go on to get drafted by The Mets shortly thereafter.

I had quite a few classes and ran track with a kid who went on to play for the NFL - The Kansas City Chiefs. We started off cool, but when he learned insulting me got him laughs from the entire class he wouldn't stop. He kept calling me black. "Black attack! Black attack!" I eventually threw hands with him in the locker room. Even though I wasn't particularly racially conscious like I am today, and it was particularly the name calling that bothered me, in hindsight it was "off code" to attack a black man's skin color to entertain a non-black audience.

Fuck it, I'll say his name... Ricky Price.

There was also the national jump rope champion Nick Woodard.

Also Biren Ealy (Tennnessee Titans). He was a senior when I was a freshman; we never interacted.

Edit - Oh, I learned that pro boxer Chris Algieri went to my college, at the same time as me no less! I never knew him or interacted with him to my knowledge.

  • A dude I went to high school and used to hang out with fairly frequently played for the Cowboys back around like 2010-2012 or something like that. He was an undrafted WR but ultimately was looking pretty good but then he broke his foot on the very last play of the very last pre-season game and was never the same. He bounced to a team or two after that but that was it. I had no idea he had NFL talent though. He was a real cool dude though.

  • I just missed going to school with Tavon Austin. He graduated the year before my senior year. My high school had a lot of players go to the league (NBA & NFL). Sam Cassell, Muggsy Bogues and Delano Johnson to name a few.

  • City college and nba

  • A few, Jalen Hill - Baltimore Ravens before he tore his acl, Dansby Swanson - Braves/Cubs, Lorenzo Carter - Giants/Falcons/etc... My brother went to school Cam Newton. I used to be a tag along, all dude did was play around and roast. I played against Kenyon Drake, Evan Engram, and Bradley Chubb too. They whooped our ass, granted I was a freshmen when they were seniors. I also played with a dude that got drafted by the Texas Rangers, but I can't remember his name. If I could go back, I would've never stopped playing baseball. Shit was easy for me, but I think by the time it was time for me to go to college I was burnt out from football. I pretty much was in sports year around from 5-18 with football, basketball, boxing, and track

  • I was a grade or 2 above a dude who is currently a professional boxer

  • I didn’t. But my little brother went to Grayson high school with Robert Nkemdiche. Saw the kid play basketball once and he was so dominant it was actually ridiculous. I think he had like 40 points and 10 rebounds.

Not an athlete but I went to high school with Charles Hamilton. Dude was kind of a douche. I hope he’s doing well though.

  • Yeah we had like 5 guys make it to the NFL in the 4 years I played high school football. They had relative short careers but they made it.

  • Middle school, broke the rim on our hoop. School was so small I’d dox myself if i say his name

  • Went to HS with a guy who went second round in the NFL. He was a stud in college but injuries and a DUI derailed his career. We also had a soccer player go top 10 in the MLS draft but I don’t pay much attention to soccer so no idea how he panned out

  • Played HS with Calvin Ridley and his little brother we were classmates also he’s pretty cool. Hope we cross paths again we were always flaming each other in class too good times.

  • Let's see. I got dunked on by Rashad McCants in 8th grade, used to practice post moves in the gym with his sister Rashanda who played in the WNBA as well, as well as Danielle Burgin who played pro overseas. Played on the football team with Crezdon Butler (CB for Pittsburgh Steelers) and Johnny White (Rb played with Buffalo/GB). Grew up with Cameron Maybin (We used to fight over girls) (MLB, Detroit),

  • went to HS with Chennedy Carter. Yes, she was like that then too

  • I went to Dematha Catholic High School in Maryland, I went to school with a couple of nba players: Victor Oladipo, Quinn Cook, Josh Selny, Jerian and Jerami Grant

The DMV catholic schools are known to produce NBA talent

I remember freshmn yr tryouts and Vic damn near slapped the top of the white box on the backboard

  • Went to high school with a girl who played international ball in Puerto Rico if that counts lol.

  • I went to high school with a few college football players and I also played against a few of them within my school district. I played DB on varsity as a Sophomore and my first game up on varsity I had play press against Giles Jackson (I didn’t know who he was). He hit me with the fastest release I’ve ever seen in my life lmao.

  • Devin bush Jr in the NFL. Was even on the same team in high school for a year. Didn't know him that much personally though

  • Freshman year I went to the rival school of Vince Carter. We actually lived close by each other so I saw him play at the rec center a bit his junior year. I think you can imagine how impressive he was in such a raw atmosphere. Also had an Sebastian Janikowski on our football team. We moved sophomore year and that school had 2 future NFL players while I was there.

  • I been shit on by Eric Devendorf, Jason Richarson. My neighbor was ranked top 100 in the nation till he tore is ACL. Only ever beat him once.

  • I was on the wrestling team with an NFL HOF'er from the 49ers when we was in high school in the south suburbs of Chicago. I was his sparring partner between matches and always ended up going home hurt after! Dude was a monster but we all knew that he was special.

  • One kid from my first high school went to the NFL. I switched high school when we moved and one went to the NBA. His brother played overseas but he graduated right before I transferred.

    That's it to my knowledge.

  • D'brickshaw Ferguson beat me up in the trenches during homecoming football game senior year lol

  • Yea I was teammates with a guy named Jaye Howard.

Played DT at Florida (he was a DE in HS) and had a short stint in the NFL with the Chiefs and Seahawks.

  • Went to high school in the midwest. We pumped out athletes. One Black guy went to the MLB right out of high school during my time, and two guys from my hs during my time are in the NBA right now i think. I think a few people got drafted in the NFL after college. Most of our football team had D1 scholarships unless their grades sucked.

I went to a state school in the midwest too and about 6 of my good friends ended up being NFL players at some point, probably more if count ones that actually made it on a team but got cut same season. Those careers are, on average about 5 years long so for about 5-6 years I went to a lot of NFL games as a Friends and Family guest. Fun times.

Had one basketball friend who played in another country’s national league. He is a huge sports star in europe but relatively unknown in his hometown. Kind of the perfect dynamic i think having witnessed his life in both places.

They’re all mostly regular folks now working regular jobs in their hometowns or college towns. A couple are living off of investments. One became a weird hollywood type. Still close with two of them.

"One black guy" Tf? Yall we being invaded by the yts again!

Uh no i’m a Black woman. You can look at my post history and see that lmao. Im not suppose to be here but not cuz im not Black lol it’s because I’m a woman. Yall just have better topics than the Black women chat.

Would you rather I say the n word or something instead of Black guy??!? I qualified race when talking about MLB because not many Black men play baseball.

Lol, just we don't really talk about them (yts) over here like that; I assume everyone who is mentioned here colloquially is black unless otherwise specified. You good, just wanted to be sure!

Thank you! I’ll go back to lurking mostly but I chimed in because I thought it was pretty normal to have a few professionals sports connections until i got out of my home state lol and since I realize it wasn’t and they are mostly since out of the league i don’t think about that much anymore.
