If a card were to ever leave the field of view of that camera, or even go outside the table radius, they will kill that deck and start over. They will also very likely change dealers, just because.
Edit: For clarity. They will remove that entire deck from use, and start with a brand new deck that they go through a whole show with. For customers and the cameras.
Because from a player’s perspective it can be considered cheating or thinking “they replaced the card”. And casinos don’t want to show people distrust so they implement very strict procedures for such cases. You want everything to be very transparent and visible for the players
I’ve seen many cards go off the table. The dealer just tells the floor that a card fell and the floor comes over and picks it up and looks at it and puts it back on the table. It’s not a big deal

Perhaps the announcement to the pit boss is so the camera can confirm it was adulterated by anyone when it fell. Because if ANYONE has contact with a card off table - the common practice is it’s automatically presumed it’s a manipulated item and thus it’s discarded w/the pack.

We just switched from 6 deck BJ to 8 and last night grabbing the discard pile I had the middle slip out and sprayed cards everywhere. Some on the ground, most in the rack.
The floor and I counted all 416 to make sure they were all there and then resumed the shuffle. Pretty funny to see this thread 12 hours later. ;)

its not going to be a new deck or a new dealer— its gonna be the floor coming over and picking it up. its gonna be returned to the table and the game will resume. the shuffle master will account for all 52 cards. at most they will do a count down of the deck. dont be so dramatic bro.

I did surveillance at the Mardi Gras Casino and resort In WV for about 6 months and I can confirm if I saw someone shuffling that close to the edge I would have notified the Pit boss. A lot of people don’t know it but watching for card counters is only 1/4 of what we did. We also policed employees and sent camera snips of rule violations to managers with excerpts from the employee handbook. As such, we had our own entrance to the building with our own private break area and we parked with customers. I ended up being let go because I couldn’t hang on midnights and kept falling asleep in the dark, air conditioned camera room lol 😂
Look at their left hand. They keep the aces on top of the pile in that hand while they swirl, then quickly throw them to their right side on top of that pile.
At some point they throw two random cards on top of that to make the shuffle look good. Then, before squaring up the deck they pull those two to the bottom.
Boom, buncha fancy hand wiggling and the aces are right back on top.
Edit: pause at 20 seconds and you can see the ace of hearts on top

You're controlling the top most cards with your left hand, they are never mixed with the rest while you spread them around. Then you put them on top except for two cards on top that you later put on the bottom of the deck. That far I think I got it. And the shuffles are easy to control, just don't mix in the top cards. But then the cut? I have no idea. Well done.
Casino shuffle requires a full 30 second wash followed by two riffles, 3 strips (top, bottom, top), and a final riffle.
Also some folks in the thread are saying that a dropped card would invalidate the whole deck and call for replacement. 😂 Nah, fam, we're picking that up (calling the floor over to pick it up), inspecting it for damage/marks, putting it back in.
If we're using a shuffler, it's going right in, and it automatically checks for discrepancies. If not, we're probably simply counting and making sure it's adding up to 52.
But what if a player gets to the downed card before the floor supervisor? Lol, the same exact thing (but I'm calling my floor to check it just as well).
Maybe 20 years ago we would have re-sorted it and reinspected it before starting the wash and shuffle over.
But a new deck? Lol, no. Even when there's a damaged or marked card, they replace only that one card from a fresh pack. Casino ain't gonna to stop collecting money from a live game in order to do a whole wash and shuffle (it's done once every 4 hours on single deck games already. Any other single card issue gets replaced by a single card)

When you pause the video, you can see all the aces are on top, the shuffle shuffle and then split and I see the aces..... going into the middle. So I was they were in the middle but they weren't.

Richard Turner had penn and teller do tHe wash. And then delt a winning hand to teller after doing the riffles,strips and a cuts. The amount of control this takes is batshit.
I might be nitpicking a bit, but this shuffle would not be valid at a casino.
The chemmy/wash shuffle should last for way longer (around 10-ish seconds or so) and be far more aggressive to really get the cards shuffled. But to be fair, that seems to be hard to do with the surface you're working with so for the sake of the trick it'll slide...
Unless that card falling off the table was intentional, since its not exactly "casino procedure" to drop cards off the table.
Then I noticed you pick the deck off of the table up into your hand before doing the riffle shuffles, also a big no-no at casinos. While still being shuffled; the deck should never leave the table's surface fully or have its bottom cards exposed, except for when straightening the deck after chemmying/washing.
As for the riffle shuffles I have nothing major to say, other than speed. If someone were to shuffle in such a controlled manner at an actual table people might get suspicious. Picking the speed up would make it seem more realistic, or to keep doing it slow just tell everyone you're a new dealer every time idk
However the thing that immediately invalidates this shuffle for me is the lack of a box shuffle / strip cut after the 2 riffles, followed by another riffle into the straight cut. Every casino I know requires a standard shuffle to contain at least the chemmy/wash, 2 riffles, 1 box/strip and 1 last riffle before cutting the deck. Some do more riffles, some do more boxes etc. Would be cool to see them implemented
In summary: a really cool trick, I couldn't do anything nearly as good. Making it actually look like a real casino-valid shuffle would skyrocket the impressiveness in my eyes. Just promise never to deal cards to me

I’m never going to give up trying to understand how you practice something like this. So even though you make a mess in the beginning, you know where the aces end up? I understand that can be done when you shuffle it cleanly as you did halfway through, but how can you practice with the messy shuffle in the beginning?

Keep the 4 aces together on top through casino wash
Putting 2 cards in bottom gives it away.
If my assessment is correct, you could leave them there without ruining your trick and be more convincing.
Keep them together even through the riffles.
no issue losing them through riffles as long as they stay together.
Cut accordingly to land them near middle (just to be more convincing on them "being lost"
Second giveaway is when you cut the deck a little bit unnaturally, like you are feeling something with your thumb which is the imperceptible air gap from the breather ace of clubs
The other 3 aces can also be breather and have or not sticky sides to help accomplish the trick but doable without it with more practice.
They shuffle, but the 4 ace's are on top the whole time. in his right hand he grabs the "top" of the deck, which are the aces. See as he fakes putting them into the shuffle but pulls them out to throw them on top again. He then throws 2 more on top and removes them to the bottom leaving all 4 aces "magically" appearing on top.
Definitely not a casino shuffle. The wash was not a wash, it's not really mixing the deck. You didn't strip the cards, or follow up with the last shuffle. It's Riffle Riffle Strip Riffle Cut.

Simply looks unnatural, one should not mixing the card this way. Touching the pack only with fingertips, whats more with forefinger (which is absoulety useless for this kind of motion), also those movements are way too rigid. Natural shuffling is much more loosy, incompact, imperfect. When someone shuffling the cards like you in this video, for me it is the most powerful sign of cheating (a.k.a. msgic), sorry.

Ive worked in 4 casinos. You dont get a new deck for a card down. You just have the floor pick it up and move on. It happens frequently

who the fuck is "the floor"?
“The floor” is the universal name for the person whose job it is to oversee the table games and the dealer.
If you ever have an issue at a table game or even poker then you call over “the floor” and they come over and sort out the situation.

Casinos also do a strip or box its a huge part of the procedure otherwise bottom cards always stay toward the bottom

You never shuffle the top of the deck, when 2 cards come on the top, you instantly place them back inside the deck.

You're controlling the top most cards with your left hand, they are never mixed with the rest while you spread them around. Then you put them on top except for two cards on top that you later put on the bottom of the deck. That far I think I got it. And the shuffles are easy to control, just don't mix in the top cards. But then the cut? I have no idea. Well done.
Casino shuffle requires a full 30 second wash followed by two riffles, 3 strips (top, bottom, top), and a final riffle.
Also some folks in the thread are saying that a dropped card would invalidate the whole deck and call for replacement. 😂 Nah, fam, we're picking that up (calling the floor over to pick it up), inspecting it for damage/marks, putting it back in.
If we're using a shuffler, it's going right in, and it automatically checks for discrepancies. If not, we're probably simply counting and making sure it's adding up to 52.
But what if a player gets to the downed card before the floor supervisor? Lol, the same exact thing (but I'm calling my floor to check it just as well).
Maybe 20 years ago we would have re-sorted it and reinspected it before starting the wash and shuffle over.
But a new deck? Lol, no. Even when there's a damaged or marked card, they replace only that one card from a fresh pack. Casino ain't gonna to stop collecting money from a live game in order to do a whole wash and shuffle (it's done once every 4 hours on single deck games already. Any other single card issue gets replaced by a single card)

This is... Very good to an amateur eye, as well as the others. The only people that are going to catch anything at all are those who do this kind of thing or those who spend time on the internet watching and learning how these tricks are done.

When you pause the video, you can see all the aces are on top, the shuffle shuffle and then split and I see the aces..... going into the middle. So I was they were in the middle but they weren't.

I might be nitpicking a bit, but this shuffle would not be valid at a casino.
The chemmy/wash shuffle should last for way longer (around 10-ish seconds or so) and be far more aggressive to really get the cards shuffled. But to be fair, that seems to be hard to do with the surface you're working with so for the sake of the trick it'll slide... Unless that card falling off the table was intentional, since its not exactly "casino procedure" to drop cards off the table.
Then I noticed you pick the deck off of the table up into your hand before doing the riffle shuffles, also a big no-no at casinos. While still being shuffled; the deck should never leave the table's surface fully or have its bottom cards exposed, except for when straightening the deck after chemmying/washing.
As for the riffle shuffles I have nothing major to say, other than speed. If someone were to shuffle in such a controlled manner at an actual table people might get suspicious. Picking the speed up would make it seem more realistic, or to keep doing it slow just tell everyone you're a new dealer every time idk
However the thing that immediately invalidates this shuffle for me is the lack of a box shuffle / strip cut after the 2 riffles, followed by another riffle into the straight cut. Every casino I know requires a standard shuffle to contain at least the chemmy/wash, 2 riffles, 1 box/strip and 1 last riffle before cutting the deck. Some do more riffles, some do more boxes etc. Would be cool to see them implemented
In summary: a really cool trick, I couldn't do anything nearly as good. Making it actually look like a real casino-valid shuffle would skyrocket the impressiveness in my eyes. Just promise never to deal cards to me Edit:typo, also fuck my stupid chungus life

I’m never going to give up trying to understand how you practice something like this. So even though you make a mess in the beginning, you know where the aces end up? I understand that can be done when you shuffle it cleanly as you did halfway through, but how can you practice with the messy shuffle in the beginning?
The messy shuffle at the beginning, watch the left hand carefully. The top handful of cards never changes throughout.
I'm guessing the aces are stripped.

5 watches deep I can’t figure out if the card going over the edge is on purpose or a genuine mistake. Either way means you are crazy skilled

Here's my take Something something Breather card Keep the 4 aces together on top through casino wash Putting 2 cards in bottom gives it away. If my assessment is correct, you could leave them there without ruining your trick and be more convincing. Keep them together even through the riffles. no issue losing them through riffles as long as they stay together. Cut accordingly to land them near middle (just to be more convincing on them "being lost" Second giveaway is when you cut the deck a little bit unnaturally, like you are feeling something with your thumb which is the imperceptible air gap from the breather ace of clubs
The other 3 aces can also be breather and have or not sticky sides to help accomplish the trick but doable without it with more practice.

Actually pretty easy. I've done this style trick.
They shuffle, but the 4 ace's are on top the whole time. in his right hand he grabs the "top" of the deck, which are the aces. See as he fakes putting them into the shuffle but pulls them out to throw them on top again. He then throws 2 more on top and removes them to the bottom leaving all 4 aces "magically" appearing on top.

Definitely not a casino shuffle. The wash was not a wash, it's not really mixing the deck. You didn't strip the cards, or follow up with the last shuffle. It's Riffle Riffle Strip Riffle Cut.

Simply looks unnatural, one should not mixing the card this way. Touching the pack only with fingertips, whats more with forefinger (which is absoulety useless for this kind of motion), also those movements are way too rigid. Natural shuffling is much more loosy, incompact, imperfect. When someone shuffling the cards like you in this video, for me it is the most powerful sign of cheating (a.k.a. msgic), sorry.

the way i shuffle is also unnatural because i only recently got a mat, before i got one i would jjst use the edge of the table (thus, why im so rigid)
