Depends on what it is. I worked at iron foundry for a number of years and the sparks like that really weren't dangerous, we did shit like in the video all the time. The reason I say it's not really that dangerous is there's not that much heat in each individual little spark and they don't really stick or burn things unless they get trapped, especially if they hit your skin, they just bounce off and you don't feel anything. Now if it gets caught in between your clothes and your skin, it burns, but again, typically not long cuz there's not that much heat in each individual spark. Aluminum on the other hand, those splashes and Sparks stick real bad.
When l learned to weld in high school shop class every single coverall crotch caught fire at least once. No real damage. It was like a rite of passage.
I work in an aluminum foundry, and have been burned by splashes / explosion in the casting table. Can confirm, it definitely hurts. Even with all the safety measures and gear, shit happens.
And in such a controlled environment! No chance of flammable debri or innocent passerbys. I'm sure the flammable materials consistently travel the same predictable distance too!
If they're like these, let's go home. They look a lot more fun than the usual kind. The normal ones might provoke an "ooooh" whilst these ones will have you shouting "Fuck yeah! Let's do it again!"
The art of Da Shuhua requires skills, power, and courage. When the leader artist scoops up the heavy iron from the furnace with the wooden spoon, the spoon cannot go very deep. Otherwise, the temperature difference between the cold spoon and heated iron will cause an explosion.
What’s fun about a lot of these traditions is it reminded me of growing up in rural northern California. All the small town hillbilly shit we’d do to keep ourselves entertained feels just like this lol.
Oh yeah. I think every culture worldwide has the equivalent of rural rednecks and redneck entertainment. Pretty sure the guys around here would take inspiration from this video and improve it somehow with tannerite.
Anvil shooting always comes to mind with that kind of thing. "Let's load some gunpowder into the open cavity of this 500lb anvil and launch it a couple hundred feet into the air."
Safety isn’t in the constitution, and the forefathers wouldn’t conceive we’d still protect guns over children. I am all for gun ownership, but I LOATHE the mentality some people have with it.
It’s the ultimate on demand budget-friendly meteor shower.
Why wait for the universe when you can just launch a puddle of liquid sun into the stratosphere yourself?
So many of you are saying "I wish I had a crazy friend to to do that with"
What kinda lame ass friends do y'all have?!
There isn't a single one of my guy friends that wouldn't be lining up to do this shit after I shown them this video.. and if I did have a friend that didn't want to do it, not sure how close of friends we can really be afterwards..
Turns out, my wife doesn't want to be my friend though..
Looks safe
Relax. They've got hats on
OSHA approved?
Ocean approved, like sandals.
Safety squints: ENGAGED!
Sure! Trust me bro.
The hats are OSHA approved, yes
/r/osha
I don't see any security flip-flops.
But they're missing their safety sandals
No hat no play bitches
Straw hats will do the job.
They’d better put their thinking caps on tho

Rite
That's what happens when l speak into my phone while holding a sleeping baby. And then l don't reread or fix it.
All good mate, just giving you a heads up in case you were unaware

I guess just wait until you need to get an MRI
Safety squint essential
3rd degree burn is first degree fun lol
Remember “Safety third.”
Then people say, “Not safety first?” And you say, No, danger and fun are first and second.”
And in such a controlled environment! No chance of flammable debri or innocent passerbys. I'm sure the flammable materials consistently travel the same predictable distance too!
"We have fireworks at home"
Your mum sounds dope as fuck
Seven Finger Susie was awesome!
My mom used to lie to the cops for us when THAT ONE neighbor would complain that we set off fireworks in the street.
"No, the kids have been inside with me playing Scrabble, officer."
Mom was awesome.
If they're like these, let's go home. They look a lot more fun than the usual kind. The normal ones might provoke an "ooooh" whilst these ones will have you shouting "Fuck yeah! Let's do it again!"
I would LOVE to add this to my fireworks show in the backyard
You just made me laugh out loud!
With the level of safety being displayed here I think Dad would be more likely to say that
Who needs fireworks when you have a portable furnace, a metal pipe, some mild steel, and an equally crazy friend at home
Imagine doing this with spicy steel.
Looks like I just found a sidekick, so I'm halfway there
What's that "spicy steel" you're talking about
☢️
Understandable, have a great day.
3.6 roentgen.
Not terrible.
Not great, not terrible
omg this is the best comment ever
I was thinking its graded like cheese. Do it with some sharp.
Dude, if I could only find a friend as equally crazy
I mean.
Dont forget mom's gardening hat!
We already got fireworks at home!

打铁花 (da tie hua) - making iron flowers
This is a chinese traditional performance art.
Looks super unsafe from this side of the screen, is it?
Here is the Wikipedia article.
My favourite quote is:
Oh my god lol
What’s fun about a lot of these traditions is it reminded me of growing up in rural northern California. All the small town hillbilly shit we’d do to keep ourselves entertained feels just like this lol.
Yep. So many times we made homemade firecrackers that would land you on a watch list, or probably in prison, now. So much fun though!
I remember us setting off some dynamite for 4th of July and seeing the shockwave travel. So damn cool!
When I was a kid our family had huge parties on the 4th. someone brought a homemade bomb and they put up in a tree. It was fucking awesome!
It's not the 4th of July at our house if we haven't set something on fire. Gotta keep up with traditions!
There are videos of onlookers having their winter coats catching fire. No fatalities.
Yet…
Skin grows back.
I think most Jewish boys would disagree.
Similar to the budding rose?
Wait this is real?!
I would book that show for NYE to have it at my house
Ehhhh I'd book it for someone else house
This is from the r/WhyWomenLiveLonger file, for sure.
OSHA just passed out seeing this
I love how the americans have OSHA but mass shootings are just like 🤷♂️
Preventing you from harming yourself is apparently more important than preventing you from harming others.
Safety isn’t in the constitution, and the forefathers wouldn’t conceive we’d still protect guns over children. I am all for gun ownership, but I LOATHE the mentality some people have with it.
The shooters are off the clock so no company is liable
Because you can sue a company, and money is all they care about in the US.
But were they wearing their PPE?
Maelle liked that
For harriet
I need this. How does one do this?
Molten iron
ok maybe i don't need this
You can also do it with steel wool on a drill and make some pretty neat effects. Look up ways to attach its pretty simple.
Good, now i want both
magnets
This was how people did fireworks before fireworks were invented. Some parts of the world still do it this way
It's MUCH better with sound.
Edit: I don't have a link, and was wondering jow many other people wanted sound. Thank you for participating in Hose Poll!

Taking this picture with long shutter would create a magical effect
What is the material he’s hitting?
Iron.
No Man
How can this have no sound? HOW????
Even the sound is unsafe, too satisfying
It’s the ultimate on demand budget-friendly meteor shower. Why wait for the universe when you can just launch a puddle of liquid sun into the stratosphere yourself?
Dude should probably be playing baseball or something if he's capable of launching those sparks to the stratosphere lol.
Now set up a long exposure photo
Still better than sea world
Safety third.
More of this, please
This will make some future magnet treasure hunter go berserk.

I love it!
So many of you are saying "I wish I had a crazy friend to to do that with"
What kinda lame ass friends do y'all have?!
