Hello everyone I'm aware majority of people probably skip through the dialogues, but I genuinely like reading the questlines however I realized that despite of that

I have no idea what's actually going on and I can't tell if It's an issue with how the story is told/presented or my comprehension is just really bad.

For example I finished the O'dyllita and Kamasylvia storyline for the second time this month and I pretty much can't tell what really happened.

I have pieces of the story in my head but I just can't put them together to make it cohesive in a way that I could explain what happened and why it happened and all the little details between.

And this is basically the case with every single storyline in BDO. I'm about 1h into Mountain of Eternal winter and I'm already lost on what's going on.

  • Verdict's youtube is good, and Land of the Morning Light and Seoul also have in-game Adventure Log storybooks that let you read the individual tales and story, along with seeing the artwork (Storybook - Donghae, Storybook - Hwanghae) when you get to that part.

The lore in game is actually pretty good, but the delivery can be a struggle

  • As some one who also likes reading the quests and stories ( even in BDO ) MoEW is kind of where i just gave up to try and make sense of things xd

  • Just watch Verdict.

    Ohh thank youu! <3

I struggled with finding a YT channel explaining the lore. Verdict seems like a goldmine.

  • The problem with the stories is that they are very convoluted to start with. Then they involve characters deliberately lying, or being misled or simply not knowing half the story themselves. Then the way the stories are told: get a crumb of information, I'll tell you more if you kill 100 wolves for spurious reasons, get another crumb and then find the next character in the chain for another crumb.

Coupled with all that, the occasional voice lines conflict with the written text you are trying to read. It's like having two different personalities talking to you at the same time. It's no wonder you can get lost trying to follow it.

The truth is nothing much happens during the Kamasylvia and Odyllita quest lines, you mostly just run around learning what happened in the past.

Two queens, Ornette and Odore, one of them burns the sacred tree because it is a channel for darkness. They go to the forest to resolve thier conflict but get killed. The new queen Amelia killed them but instead blames the Poly sprits and starts killing them or driving them out. The Vedir leave and settle Odyllita. The new queen of Odyllita "kidnaps" her best friend Brolina but is all a feint to save her from being killed by the mad queen Amelia. Brolina performs a ritual that drives the various races around Calpheon crazy and when Calpheon calls on Amelia for help, Brolina returns and takes power.

Meanwhile princess Catherine is researching how to restore the light of the sacred tree. she meets Orwen and decides she has to be sacrificed to restore the tree. Orwen is the daughter of Caphras, a luthrigan, a people who come from the underworld beneath the roots of the tree. Catherine can't bring herself to perform the sacrifice but then Amelia's troops, pretending to be Ahibs, kill Cathrine which fulfills the sacrifice and it is her light you rediscover which restores the light.

Ahibs are corrupted Vedir, they are the main antagonists trying to bring forth the darkness. They are torturing and relocating the Turos in order to make that happen which is why you kill the chief to stop it.

    >The problem with the stories is that they are very convoluted to start with.
There is no problem with the story, the problem is that OP can't read or hold attention.

  • Odyllita was the most confusing for me. Kama is basically about you restoring the light. And in Ody they tell you the light acts as a lighthouse for Hadum, who is the Big Bad.

Yeah that's more or less what I understand but I'm lost in the details.

    Especially the names

    Oh god the names

I'm currently in the middle of the odyllita questline and its confusing me too. glad to hear its not just me lmao

  • Watch some lore vids. I don’t remember a lot either it’s mostly mish mash. But what I got from it was that the black spirit attached to you, is from illezra and she betrayed you and that’s how you got there. From there you save velia. The story with jordine explains how there was a war over the black stones that were found in the desert, and obviously you see jordine go bad. This is where I’d say the story actually begins because all the main quest before that was made years ago compared to the calpheon revamp they did. But anyways, this story is played way out and includes his lover spying on him mostly and then him being possessed by an ancient spirit and going bad. While this part of the story is intriguing the rest not so much. You do save calpheon in the end though and really I think the only point they’re trying to get across in the story is that you are the main character. One thing to note is that we do get lore on kazarka and who exactly illezra is later tho

  • Short version is the normal elves like the spirits with teir tree being their religious icon but also a light house drawing in the god of darkness Hadum. Someone learned they could absorb the spirits power by burning the trees so the now dark elves want to burn all the trees to absorb the power so they can then fight the Hadum.

The two queens are sisters and the civil war between the two is semi orchestrated by them though I don't rightly remember why.

At least that's what I remember.

  • Odyllita and Elvia plot line is the worst delivered of the game to me. Even worst of the old Elion’s Church/Shadow knights/Shadow Guard and other related organizations that you can know about only by studying the poorly explained lore scattered in books and sub-quests…

The lore in Odyllita is extremely intriguing, and I like that there is no definitive answer to many beliefs regarding the true identity of Sylvia, Hadum, and Thornwood Goddess. It’s interesting that different factions of Vedir have conflicting point of views on the matter… BUT in the end all seems so pointless… I didn’t really understand the meaning of the finale and it does not makes any sense what happens later on with Elvia realm. We went through many adventures to craft the gem of imbalance to prevent Elvia realm from actualizing and then screw it, Elvia is already here in Heidel anyway, just smash the gem and fight some monsters…

  • There is a story? Jokes aside I have like 20k hours and I could not tell you any lore about the game, except Caphras evil guy 🤣
