  • make trial chars and just use what seems fun to you. trial chars have all abilities and a standard set of gear. basically later you can choose two and switch around a lot.

  • My recommendation is guardian. Succession side for faster and complex, awakening side with huge slow weapon but hits like a truck. The class has both aspects in terms of apm.

  • play what you find cool

  • When people ask "best". It might work for other MMOs as their is clear meta defining items or traits, but for BDO, just play a char you enjoy standing still in tower defense grind.

  • Check out youtube and look up Blue's class selection video. He does a good job give a high level overview of each with some gameplay in the background while keeping it at an overview level. From their pick a few that appeal and use the games trial character of those whilst also looking up a class specific guide on how to play them. There really isnt a best, you should play what appeals to your playstyle.

  • You're opening a pandora box my guy. Listen I don't actively play BDO anymore, haven't for years, but I always come back for a seasonal character, so I can tell you Succession Ninja is probably along those lines. I have the same playstyle and don't find it too difficult but combat in BDO is combo based, so there will be a learning curve.

That said, there's no "best class to start with" and it's entirely preferencial though some classes do have an easier time farming on later stages of the game compared to others, and there are definitely some rankings you can look up, but gear has a role there.

  • Sounds like Ranger would suit you. Can literally hold down two buttons for your starting grind so it's super easy, both in the ranged form and in your awakening dagger form. Then you can progressively get more advanced as you please. Really think you should watch some awakening Ranger video to get an idea.

  • Now is a fine time to start with all the seasonal stuff they give out it will help you progress a decent amount and the Olvia academy is coming also which will bring more stuff for all players. Concerning the class you wanna play many people will tell you lots of things and there are tier lists but whatever you wouldn’t mind grinding endless hours on and still have fun is the answer I’d probably look up a video showcasing all the classes imo.

  • After making your first character, in the character creation menu you have TRIAL option, were you can create a character in the arena and try it fully builded, to check the movement, skill and how it feels. So try there all the classes that you are interested in, check combos of those clases in youtube and try them, then just choose the one you like the most.

  • better watch some videos of characters showcases ... jump into Season Character / Servers and try it out ...
people have their own playstyles .. you got the find the character that fits your.

Personality, I still find Striker Awakening the best overall for my playstyle... Seraph next to it.
BDO is not the tradicional MMO gamestyle, you really need to find the best sweetspot and confortable gameplay for you.

Good luck, and have fun ... grinding is a fundamental aspect of BDO for progression...

  • I did 3 years grinding on a min-max class to be efficient, hated it. Rolled a class i enjoy but i do grind slower, but then again i can grind longer because its fun.

So its all about personal pref, dont look up tier lists and stuff, just test it out.

Like fast paced and combo - ninja, musa, maewha, kino, tamer.

Like slow but hard hitting - warrior, Guardian, etc.

  • i tried a few and settled on dosa. it was easy to remember the combos. it has several skills that heal health and mana so its self sustain made potions mostly irrelevant until much harder stuff. its middle of the pack in terms of damage i believe but its ease of use made up for that

you do not need to remember any combo with the help-options this game provides you

  • Woosa is very beginner-friendly and has high potential as well, so I think it's a good class to start with.

  • Greetings and welcome.

The best class is the class you enjoy most, for that reason we have the option to create fully leveled trial chars so you can test how their skills feel.

Unlike most MMos this game features a form of action combat without lock on. This means most attacks are Aoes with varying hitboxes.

A fast paced dual wielding class with great range options would be for example ranger. Most classes also feature a so called "Awakening" and "Succession" playstyle with often dramatic gameplay differences including using a different weapon and moveset. For ranger the awakening kit is fast dual wielded short swords while succ leans into the bow ranger playstyle.

There are no real meta classes in this game( not for long at least) and what is considered "best" is what you enjoy playing most.

Once you have chosen a class you like you can start your journey with a season char, this games version of a boosted start. Creating season chars is a limited resource so check what you like with a trial char before comitting. Later in the game you can take advantage of the tagging system to try other classes which allows you to copy temporary gear equal to your main gear to a secondary char you also share XP with.

Do not be discouraged by early levels, most classes only really come online once you hit lvl 56 and get access to the advanced skills from awak and succ.

    Cheers

  • Go to youtube and type in “Awakening and Succession Class Playlist”. A playlist of 56 videos should appear and just choose the one that looks the dopest to you

  • Sounds like you want an awk ranger. She has a short sword/dagger combo and can switch to bow as needed.

  • I highly recommend starting with what you think looks cool. The classes will be hard to learn, but for me that’s the fun part. Don’t look at tier lists, complete BS.

  • There is no best class to start with but there are lazy ones that I enjoyed: Maegu/Lahn. I always switch classes whenever I’m bored tho so I don’t have a main…I’m always afk fishing

  • Witch (succession) has a really strong kit for grinding, very nice to have

  • Ninja, Kuno, Awakening Ranger is what you describe.

  • Musa is a fast class and really good starter that will be viable all the time. The awakening gives you a fire blade staff with big AOEs

  • I wish i discovered bdo now, its a great time to start and progress! Enjoy the content!

  • Right now with Tuvala Gear accessible outside Season Character you could literally playtest any character you want, and then pick your favourite and go beyond EXP lvl 60 and improve your gear beyond PEN Tuvala.

  • Guardian - Maegu - Dark Knight
