Cats smell our feet due to their height so they think we smell like feet and shoes, to them, smell like their favourite hooman so they like it very much

Sometimes they like the funk lol. Mine would love on me right after a workout and if I changed, he’d be sniffing all up in the laundry basket. Once they were sweat free he did not gaf at all. Same thing with my stinky socks
Last week my cat decided that just this wasn't enough. He took one of my socks and drenched it in his wet food and treated it like gollum with the one ring. Hissing at anyone who tried to take it away from him. Finally managed to grab it from him when he tried to bring it into the bed 😭.
Your "smell" doesn't stink for a cat or animals in general. It's just your personal scent but in it's extreme form. You're just not used to it because, well, we wash our self on a regular basis. Since the car loves you, this extended smell is actually pretty exciting for her
Yep. She also likes to bury her face into my armpit, and if I’m sitting at my computer when she does this she’ll straight up fall asleep in there. Doesn’t matter if I’m just getting home from work or fresh out the shower (although she does also love my work clothes, instead of the hamper I have to put them in a small pile for her to nap on, and if I don’t she will try to drag them out of the hamper herself)
My black buddy loves shoes, especially if they’re leather. He’s shy and won’t say hi when we have guests, but will spend a good hour just rubbing all over their shoes lol
The cats my sister and I got when we were super young do this now with our parent’s shoes lol. My current cat does it with the weights we have, my wife and I always joke that the cat is pumping iron now lol

We had people over for Thanksgiving and my little dummy spent half the day with her head in one of their shoes. They also have two cats and a dog so I guess there were a lot of new smells she had to check out lol
Our grey kitty will stick his front peets in my work boot and jam his face as far as he can into the other. I don't know if he's hunting my laces or just getting lost in the sauce. I haven't been able to capture a photo of this yet though.

I think it has more to do with the cat trying to erase the scent. Cats have scent glands in the cheeks and paws (as well as near their tails). So when they rub their face or paws on some clothing of yours, they are trying to reclaim the object into the family collective smell. It is a "This is mine" thing than a "whoo, my human smells great" thing.
Our girl has been stealing my shoes nearly every morning. One used to wind up in the bedroom and now I catch her mid-breakfast attempting the act. I tried spooking her with a plastic fork and she stole that too, then her brother started playing with it. The best form of entertainment these two are
I remember one time way back when, I was hunting. I set out a bottle of strong smelling stuff that was supposed to attract deer. I had bought it from BassPro shops. Buck tarsel gland they said. I watched as a fox approached while I was hunting over where I had placed it in the woods expecting a deer to smell it and perhaps come in range for me to get a shot with my bow. The fox caught sent of it and came running. At first the fox just seemed intrigued. Next thing I knew, the fox cut a back flip on to the bottle knocking it over. The fox wallowed in it until coated in the elixir. The animal seemed quite satisfied with the results and walked away seemingly happy with itself. Believe me a few drops would make you puke.

Both of our cats are underwear cats. Sigh.
