Maybe it started at a surface station where it saw the train pass by several stops on the way,so it knew it wasn’t a death trap, but still, all the other pigeons were like “NO. DON’T.” Then it, or maybe a braver one, stayed on when it went into a tunnel, got off at an underground station, and figured out how to get back to the street. All the local birds in the street were probably like, “Oi! Where the fuck did you come from?” and it was really tense for a while. Eventually word got around and more pigeons figured it out and started popping up all over the place like it was some kind of teleporter. They must have been the talk of the town, meet all the neighborhood birds, tell stories of exotic food and far off lands, learn the customs, etc. They had to be like ambassadors or celebrities. Maybe they still are. Maybe these brave explorers are bringing pigeon civilization into the future.
