I was just contemplating digging out around my feeder pole this morning to make life easier for the ground feeding birds, but clearing that space also makes it way easier for the hawks to take off with them so... ultimately I think I'm gonna leave it.
I've been throwing some seed under the evergreen tree and the sparrows know to look down there, the doves are either too large or too stupid so unfortunately I think they will just have to suffer.
they eat out of the suspended trays just fine, but they get crowded, and I know it isn't their preference.
Good for you, thinking of them. I put out fresh bacon fat (naturally hickory-smoked Benton’s bacon), to see if there are any takers. If not, the raccoons or opossums will.

Glad you got your priorities in order! 😆 Shoveling a path to the feeders was the first thing I did. Never mind clearing out the driveway LOL
