Wanted to share a friend's encounter. This was in Sharpsburg NC, on Sharpe Road. To clarify, this is a friend of mine who had never heard of sasquatch before, and we live in Sharpsburg, NC. This guy has no reason to lie, I feel, he was genuinely shaken by the encounter.
So he told me for a couple weeks, his trash can had been getting knocked over and rummaged through every night , and it was too heavy for dogs to be doing it. His girlfriend also said she felt like she was being watched through the back windows/door, which face the woods. One night, he was taking out the trash late , and says he saw what he described as a 8 ft tall "Monkey Man". As I said, he had never heard of bigfoot, he's the sorta hood/gangster type. What makes me believe him, is he described it as having eye shine. He says it stood there, just out of the light from his back porch, against the treeline, emitting a low growl. He dropped the trash and went inside. He called me , freaking out.
I've looked at reports for Nash county and have seen a few, such as one crossing 301 highway , which is a road running through Sharpsburg. Since the encounter, he has asked around and someone else from Rocky Mount told him that if you look up at night, driving near rocky mount, you can see them "standing in the trees.". Spooky stuff. I believe him, I've never known this guy to lie or be shaken up by ANYTHING, or anyone. What do you guys think?

I know right? When I eat at Andy's (Highway 55?) in the Burg', I can see down the road to those woods where he had the encounter. I cannot imagine seeing them standing up in the trees, dude. But alot of encounters and accounts describe them moving through trees

id say it a 100% sighting - 8ft tall 'monkey man' - often described to look more human than ape - but with hair. ✅ Eyeshine - or glowing red/orange - also very commonly reported. ✅ Going thru trash - these guys are literally starving at all times, a gorilla can eat 40-50lbs of vegetation and fruit a day - now imagine a 8-9ft tall gorilla and how much they would have to consume daily - and also very commonly reported going thru trash for food ✅ Low growl ✅
I wonder if their population is growing rapidly the same way humans are, but since they don’t produce factory food, their sources are depleting? Would make sense why there are thousands more sightings nowadays compared to 50 years ago!

Yeah he said it was standing half in his porch light, and one eye was "throwing back light like a cat" , the other eye was in darkness. Definite eye shine

Alternatively, if he wants wants these things to leave him alone the camera just might work as a deterrent, lol.

I have one of those city issued trash barrels on wheels which are made absolutely critter proof. One day, I found a popsicle stick and wrapper on the ground right next to it. I had thrown it away the day before. I don’t remember if it was a fudgsicle or popsicle, but I remember sticking the stick back into the wrapper and throwing it away in the kitchen garbage bag BEFORE tossing that bag into the barrel. I found the stick lying next to the empty wrapper on the ground. I live in an urban suburb that does not have homeless. I don’t think we have BFs here, but I also don’t think a raccoon would have done that so neat & tidy. 🤷🏻♀️ Are BFs going Urban? Hoodsquatch?
The area I'm talking about has plenty of woods and fields, and the creature was seen againstthe treeline directly behind the apartments. If you look up Sharpe Road, Sharpsburg, NC, you'll see exactly what Im talking about
Wow, that’s gorgeous! My bad, I read “apartment building” and my mind automatically went to “urban” areas. I’m still hoping that someday, I’ll be able to live in rural natural beauty like that area in NC! Lol

Reports like this square well with the reports of the Almasty in the Caucasus region which have these Bigfoot-type creatures coming very close to human settlements scrounging for food. The quest for food is their number one driving impulse and will lead them to set aside any innate fear of humans they might have. They don't seem to mind eating some pretty disgusting stuff either.
Contrary to what some people think, I don't believe Sasquatches automatically stick to the most remote, human-free areas of wilderness. There may be more of them in the rural areas of places like Pennsylvania, Ohio, upstate NY, etc than there are in all the wilds of Canada, simply because there's a more reliable year round supply of road kill and garbage, and human-cultivated fruit there. So long as there's a modicum of cover where they can sleep unmolested during the day, they'll put up with more frequent human encounters for the food. Bears, raccoons and deer do it. Why wouldn't a Sasquatch?

There used to be more of them in North Carolina. When I was growing up near Raleigh NC, the extensive, densely wooded rural area around and along the Neuse River, to the North of Raleigh, had a persistent legend about “the screaming thing.” This was a tall ape like creature that roamed up and down the river, sometimes spotted but more often heard vocalizing. In the 1980’s this area got turned into the vast Falls Lake Reservoir, greatly reducing the wild areas. I can believe your buddy saw a Bigfoot in a rural area of NC, absolutely.
