Hello!

I'm looking to get a budget hi- fi setup and am looking at seeing what I can get used before I take the plunge on brand- new equipment. One retailer that keeps coming up when I look is Fein-Hifi; according to their site, all the equipment they sell is used, but has been inspected by them (definitely a must with used audio equipment). They seem to only be online, but their warehouse (?) is in Pankow. The small handful of reviews I could find for them were mostly positive (with a few complaints about customer service), but I'm generally skeptical of review portals nowadays. Has anyone here bought from them? If so, were they any good?

  • Bought an amp from him 10 years ago or so. I just replaced it because I wanted streaming. but it’s still working

Good to know; they definitely seem trustworthy just based on how detailed the descriptions regarding the condition of the items are, but it felt a little odd shopping at a website that has such a minimal web presence

It’s not a bad sign. This guy is a nerd that’s really good at repairing amps. He’s not good at building websites.

And it’s an old school small one person business. You basically drive to his home and buy from him.

Oh, cool! I was wondering if they offered pickup so that would work great. Thanks for the info!

  • Id rather get some old technics amp from Kleinanzeigen… they are cheap out for sell all over the place. For streaming, they sell on amazon bluetooth receivers to be connected to a tape or cd input. Also an apple tv would work for airplay, old ones you can find for like 10€ also on kleinanzeigen. Good luck :)

much appreciated. I had considered that too, but I also want room to upgrade if I want to in the future. Plus, it's a little more reassuring to know it's been inspected by someone that knows what they're doing instead of Jürgen from Kleinanzeigen telling me "Der hat 'n paar Beulen aber geht ja noch"

  • What do you want to buy exactly, just curious.

Just a basic stereo amp. I've seen similar models advertised at Mediamarkt, but they cost at least 100€ more

Ok, but just in case you don't want to go oldschool and bulky, there are plenty new and audiophile amps out there. Like:

    SMSL A300

    SMSL A200

    O-Noorus D4

Just to name a few. What speakers to you intend to drive with it?

Haven't decided yet. Nothing huge because I live in a WG but as for amps I'm currently leaning toward Onkyo. I've heard good things about some of the older models and Fein-Hifi seems to have a pretty large selection of that particular brand available

Ok, but just don't then put a cheap bluetooth receiver on it 😄. When streaming, buy a raspberry pi and a dac from hifiberry (even the zero 2 is really good and suitable for streaming, wether bluetooth or Airplay/DLNA)

And do not buy speakers with a back sided bassreflexport, figure that with living in a wg, space is scarce so you will put the speakers on a shelve or against a wall and when you have a back sided port this will created trouble and to much bass for the flatmates ad well as the neighbours.

For sure; I plan to use either a line-in or a CD player
