  • /u/realfeeder, thank you for your contribution. Sadly it was removed due to the following reasons:

We want posts that are about the city in specific and not just "remotely related" to it, if you just want to ask people living in Berlin a question please use /r/askberliners, if you are asking a simple question where you mostly need "one answer" then /r/askberliners is also the right place, questions that are meant to act as a base for discussions and also deliver an initial opinion on the matter are welcome

Please do a little research first before asking. Check our Wiki, and use the subreddit search, you will probably already find answers to your question - if you are still unhappy with what you get please use /r/askberliners instead as the main sub is mainly for discussion and information and not for simple questions and recommendations

You can find further information in the Community-Rules. Note that we also have /r/askberliners for questions that are less about the city and more of a general nature and /r/berlinpics for pictures of our beautiful city, as well as the sticky post for "New to Berlin, Tourism and Moving to Berlin"-kind of questions

  • Yes, this is correct. The earliest FEX services go via "Stadtbahn" from/to Charlottenburg instead of "Dresdener Bahn".

  • Check DB. Also S9 empties a lot after Ostkreuz, so I wouldn’t be too worried about it.

E: Treptower park where it connects with ring

    Ostkreuz ? S9 doesn’t stop at Ostkreuz

Ah. Meant treptower park where it connects with ring

  • yes, in the very early morning a few FEX trains use that different route through the city to serve more of the night bus hubs.

  • The S9 is not the Ringbahn. I take it everyday (including last NYE) and I’m still fine

  • The S9 doesn't go through Ostkreuz, you need to go one stop west to Warschauer Straße and pick it up from there. I don't think there would be any problem travelling on it, even that late on NYE night.

Yes, you're right that the FEX has changed its route - it now goes from Hauptbahnhof, only stopping at Potsdamer Platz and Südkreuz before the airport. There are some other trains from Ostkreuz to the airport, but less frequently, and I'm not sure about that time of night. Check https://www.bahn.de/ for details.

  • It‘s correct, some late night and early bird connection from FEX use route via Ostbahnhof, Alexanderplatz and Zoologischer Garten

  • There's no more direct connections with RE/RB/FEX from Ostbahnhof. You have to take the S-Bahn or transfer at Ostkreuz.

According to several other comments and DB website - there are a few of them in the very early morning.

Guess I didn't have my time window set large enough. No more "regular" direct connections with RE/RB/FEX from Ostbahnhof.
