looking for a small one bedroom with POSSIBLY a washer and dryer in or around rutherford. i am a social worker in bergen county with a limited budget nothing over 1500 and just need a small place that’s affordable and safe. i’m a non smoker no pets and i am very quiet and clean. please let me know if you have any leads

  • In BC best of luck. If I had any leads for 1500 a month I would've taken them for myself lol.

  • Sorry OP, this unit probably doesn't exist

    it’s a unicorn

  • Best bet is a roommate tbh

  • Try Carlstadt. It's been many years since I lived and rented there, but there may be an advantage rent-wise because a big chunk of Carlstadt east of Rt. 17 is industrial and keeps taxes relatively low for residents on the west side of the highway. There's not much to do right in Carlstadt, but it is a nice quiet town that is next to Rutherford and others with more of a downtown to toddle around in. There are also stops for multiple bus lines into NYC.

I second this. Carlstadt is my home town!

It’s quiet, safe, and close to major highways, grocery stores and public transportation.

I miss living there. Although I’d rather live in other parts of NJ than Bergen County, Carlstadt I wouldn’t mind owning a home in one day if the opportunity came.

I work in the industrial area of Carlstadt. Trust me there's a reason its cheap, the place is a dump 😂

Nothing but factories and warehouses, potholes everywhere, when it rains the whole place floods. And good luck going anywhere without getting stuck behind at least 2 slow trucks.

I agree with you on the side of Carlstadt east of Rt 17 - mostly industrial wasteland, now with more traffic on the same beaten-up roads because of the mall. But the residential side is west of Rt 17 and from my experience (admittedly about 20 years ago), living there was more than fine. I rented my portion of a 2-family house for seven years from a wonderful landlord who handled any maintenance issues right away. It was a solidly blue-collar town with houses on postage-stamp lots, mostly no driveways or garages, a real mess when it rains hard or snows because it's actually kind of hilly compared to the surrounding area. But people took care of their property and it was quiet and I always felt safe. Hopefully nothing has changed for the negative in those respects.

Agreed on the more residential parts. I live one town over in Wood-Ridge, and for the most part the residential side is still nice. And all the new houses that I see that get built look very nice. The only street in that section of Carlstadt that I still hate is that crazy Hoboken Road!

  • amazing thank you so much! yes i have a car hackensack is perfect area thank you!

  • I saw one apartment for 1650 in Rutherford

  • Good luck. Being in Bergen county myself, and knowing how hard that specific is gonna be, good luck

  • Try Carlstadt, Wallington, and Garfield. Rutherford is a pipe dream at that price.

  • The apartment won't be done build til 2026 winter 🥹 I got lost lmao and saw some construction going on asked the guys this was like maybe 2 month ago smh one of them was supposed to give me the number 😔

  • Not to be pessimistic, but I'm also a social worker in Bergen County. Had a beautiful, impossibly cheap apartment. When I had to move out, I had to move home because I couldn't afford anything else on my salary (though I'm not sure where you are in the social work heirarchy lol, I know salaries differ). Try out of county and with a roommate. I had a friend paying $1800 in Carlstadt for a one bedroom. Otherwise, I think asking around to people you know also helps, or even just walking the neighorbood and seeing what's for rent. That's how I found my last apartment. Good luck!

    thank you!!!!!

  • Thank you for what you do

  • How does Paterson sound?

upscale might be to expensive for me
