Tomorrow marks three years from RPAN shutting down. What are some of your best memories from it? I’ll start. My first thought was u/hodorstonks who oftentimes would be found making bone broth, video gaming, eating at a restaurant, or propagating plants. She was into lots of things. She was intelligent. She was friendly. She answered questions in the chat like a natural born teacher. She had humor and heart and knowledge. Then, there was a shift where it got serious in tone. She was studying to pass the bar exam. If memory serves, she had already passed in one state but had relocated and needed to pass for her new state. So she breaks out her books and notes, reads the laws, makes cheat sheets and flashcards, quizzes herself, dissects the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial in real time, all the while still keeping up with curious RPAN chatters. She takes her test. She continues on, relieved of all the studying. Then comes the day for her bar exam results. I don’t think she opened that live on stream, but she did start one up very soon after she had found out. She passed! She’s visibly aflutter, there’s a lightness about her, her eyes are smiling, she’s in partial disbelief, that look of awe is on her face, and everyone chatting is congratulating her. At one point, and this is my favorite memory, as it’s all sinking and settling in that’s she’s done it, she’s bar certified, she’s over the hard part, she gets up from her seat and starts tearing down all the post-it notes on her wall, all her stacks of paper went flying into the air, I’m sure a book or two was thrown. It was like a cartoon, and it was one of the most joyous things I’ve ever seen and experienced vicariously in my life. I’ll never forget that moment. Thanks for sharing that with us, Hodor. Hope you’re still out there getting it in all kinds of ways. Now, who else has a good memory to share? It can be anything. Just trying to stir up some nostalgia and appreciation for that old, brief space.
