Imagine the horrified reaction from the idiot driver that saw the effect his driving had on the white car. Looks like he got a full view of that flip. I hope this experience burned a lesson in their brain. Really hope nobody was in critical condition.
We were coming from the other direction of 680 when the ambulance left, and they were going quickly with lights on so definitely some sort of significant injuries.
What?! Are we watching different videos? The car on the right changed lanes INTO the white one and pit maneuvered them. The object in the road is from the car impact. Nobody swerved to the right to cause the wreck, the car on the right very clearly in the video hit the white car by moving into their lane.
Maybe the black car wasn't paying attention when changing lanes, but then freaked out in the worst possible way. Either way, definitely black cars fault. Hopefully everyone is alright.
100%. I don’t know why a comment above it being upvoted for saying eh white car swerved into the other car. They got pitted 100% by the car on the right.
Black car was driving behind the white truck for a while. Seems to me they were not paying attention and drifted to the left and did an unintentional PIT maneuver.
I think they were OK. I drove by about 20 minutes later. There were 6 CHP and no ambulance. The white car was upside down and completely off the edge of the highway (against barrier wall). Overall they seemed OK?
I'm still confused on the physics a bit. It could be the relative speed of the filming car, but I'm saying it looks like the car had already slowed down enough to not flip.
It also looks like the car was backwards and it's hood violently jumped up into the air like it was being pushed upward.
Not saying there was a water main, but it just looks odd and it feels like I'm missing something
I'm still confused on the physics a bit. It could be the relative speed of the filming car, but I'm saying it looks like the car had already slowed down enough to not flip.
Overall speed doesn't matter.
Differential speed does.
It's not unlike the physics that caused the initial accident.
The car doing the PIT impacts the target with just enough force to cause the back end of the target car to start to spin, but the "attacking" (for lack of a better word) car stays under control because it is not rotating.
I drove by this on my way to Dublin. Looked bad. The car landed on its top. EMS was loading someone in their ambulance. Strangely, even though there were fire trucks and a black unmarked police car blocking a lane, traffic wasn’t bad.
San Ramon Fire captain has a black on black detailed truck. Definitely trying to look cool with taxpayer money. Not sure if he rolls coal or not, but his Peter is tiny that’s for sure.
Yeah wtf is going on here? I’ve had nothing but pleasant interactions with SRVFD and have never heard any shade until these comments and what feels like way too many upvotes?
Yes. That's why it's called a blind spot, it's always there and blind if your mirrors are set up correctly. Pointing at places where you want to avoid stuff like other cars.
Point the mirrors at the blind spot, it's no longer blind, but you exchanged that blind spot for the spot next to it, now the blind spot. And you don't see cars in the lane next to you, but the old blind spot is no longer blind. Meaning the lane next to you is now your blind spot. Not optimal.
I read posts like above, r/confidentlyincorrect , and I understand how such ridiculous accidents like in the OP video happen.
In other words, you ALWAYS move your head when you change lanes. There's no magic way to NOT move your head that most people don't know. It's why the teacher in my Driver's Ed classes in high school literally yelled at kids who did NOT move their heads when lane-changing.
Hence, even decades later, I ALWAYS move my head and check all mirrors in sequence when lane-changing.
but you exchanged that blind spot for the spot next to it
Yea you're pointing the mirror at your own car. Where there's never going to be a car.
And I guess it doesn't really work for all cars out there but my car side mirror is convex which increases the viewing angle by a lot more than the flat ones.
I drove by this after, a mom and little child were standing on the side of the road - poor folks what a bummer but there was no ambulance so that was really good. I drove by 405ish.
After watching this a few times, I'm wondering if the piece of debris was in the roadway before the collision. If so, it looks like it might be possible that the black car swerved in that exact spot to avoid the debris, over-corrected, and collided with the white car.
If you watch the video you can see the debris is not on the roadway when the black car begins to change lanes and collides with the white car. After both cars continue to the right you can see the debris (trim piece?) moving on the roadway.
The black car starts to change lanes around 2 seconds, hits the white car around 4 and you can see the debris around 5. At 60 mph a car travels 88 feet in one second. That means the black car traveled 150-200 feet between the time it started changing lanes and when you can see the debris.
After watching again and seeing that the debris is moving just as the camera goes past it tells me that it is indeed a result of the collision, and wasn't already on the road.
TIL the term/method pit maneuver. Is this relatively hard to accomplish on the road? Ex: do you need hit a specific angle or area of the car for this to be successful? I’ve never came across this before
You're basically pushing the other car's rear to forcefully change its direction. It's fundamentally not hard, but it's definitely not something people do in their day to day.
My husband and I drove past this maybe 45 later and saw a bunch of CHP - the family was standing on the side of the road and looked okay, but one family member was holding a young child. I can't imagine how scary that must have been for them.
That black car was way too close to the truck in front. The truck veered to the right to avoid the obstruction in the road. There's not much traffic and no reason to ride up the ass of the vehicle in front of you.
I see that most folks are seeing the Black car perform a pit maneuver but on first look it seemed the White one had tried to make the exit, behind the Tanker Truck.
The black car made an incredibly dangerous maneuver and caused a horrible accident. For all of our safety, I recommend you watch it until you understand why. If you can't figure that out I hope you don't get behind the wheel of a car.
You have to understand that these people also vote. This is why the AI video apocalypse is over-stated. It's not that fake video will convince people. It's that a lot of people already look at a blue sky and say "wow, weird that it's so red".
You can be the safest driver on the road and some idiot will come out of nowhere and ruin your life.
Imagine the horrified reaction from the idiot driver that saw the effect his driving had on the white car. Looks like he got a full view of that flip. I hope this experience burned a lesson in their brain. Really hope nobody was in critical condition.

When someone presses Z or R twice on your controller.
could have been a medical emergency.
Naw chances are it's some idiot who never misses their exit
The driver attempted to swerve to avoid that object without checking to see if his right hand side was not occupied by another motorist
What?! Are we watching different videos? The car on the right changed lanes INTO the white one and pit maneuvered them. The object in the road is from the car impact. There are other motorists on the road?!?
CHP incident 0958. May be worth giving them a call if nobody DMs you
the flip at the end was some michael bay shit jfc
I'm sorry but you can't park there
Maybe the black car wasn't paying attention when changing lanes, but then freaked out in the worst possible way. Either way, definitely black cars fault. Hopefully everyone is alright.
Not the civilian pit maneuver
100%. I don’t know why a comment above it being upvoted for saying eh white car swerved into the other car. They got pitted 100% by the car on the right.
dm me if you need more clips.
Not sure how that is anything but the fault of the black car.
They either weren't paying attention, or they WERE paying attention and decided to take the white car out.
That flip at the end though. Here's hoping the people in the white car are OK.
Black car was driving behind the white truck for a while. Seems to me they were not paying attention and drifted to the left and did an unintentional PIT maneuver.

The black car stopped too.
Drove past at 3:15 and someone involved was in the back of an ambulance.
I'm wondering if he hit a water main or something, cause it looked like he had already slowed down below flipping speeds
There's a puddle there. His tires lost traction.
I can tell you for certain there isn't a water main along that section of 680.
Overall speed doesn't matter.
Differential speed does.
It's not unlike the physics that caused the initial accident.

There is a giant puddle on the shoulder of the road.
Top of the car momentum, but the bottom half of the car and the tires were braked by the water
So the black Prius did a pit maneuver on the white suv?
I drove by this on my way to Dublin. Looked bad. The car landed on its top. EMS was loading someone in their ambulance. Strangely, even though there were fire trucks and a black unmarked police car blocking a lane, traffic wasn’t bad.
The black car seemed relatively undamaged.
Thanks for the info. I hope everyone is ok.
Good thing there was no barrier there.
San Ramon Fire captain has a black on black detailed truck. Definitely trying to look cool with taxpayer money. Not sure if he rolls coal or not, but his Peter is tiny that’s for sure.
Outta nowhere with the SRFD shade lol
Yeah wtf is going on here? I’ve had nothing but pleasant interactions with SRVFD and have never heard any shade until these comments and what feels like way too many upvotes?
I mean a fire captain should be payed well so what if he drives a truck?
Found the douche canoe on their FB: https://www.facebook.com/100048547814740/posts/1387349159559998/?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v
It says he just recently retired lol, post was made 8-hours ago.
Hope they paint it red.
Black car was probably drunk. Or they were road raging.
Staring at their fucking phone
Idk people prioritize their phones over public safety
I passed minutes later, black car was still there.
This is why I don’t feel bad about doing 35 on San Ramon Rd.
Ride my bumper when it’s raining and I’ll slow that shit down to 30 even
Do you have more video of the black car’s driving behavior?
Yeah, that will be great to see wtf they were doing!
They didn’t turn their head and only used the mirror…
If you set up your mirrors correctly you don't even need to move your head for the left side of your car.
🤦♂️
You can literally get rid of your blind spot setting up your mirrors correctly.. 🤦♂️
Yes. That's why it's called a blind spot, it's always there and blind if your mirrors are set up correctly. Pointing at places where you want to avoid stuff like other cars.

ALWAYS… second nature muscle memory shite

hope they are safe now
Gnarly
rubbin is racin’

spamdigger legendary un
* Crash, not accident
The traffic is light too. Disappointing, totally avoidable glad theres video in case driver is denying culpability
That's some good In N Out
Scary accident but you couldn’t ask for a better smelling place for one.

I rewatched several times and couldn't tell with certainty whether the debris was there before or after.

For the most part, yes and yes
You're basically pushing the other car's rear to forcefully change its direction. It's fundamentally not hard, but it's definitely not something people do in their day to day.
Thanks. Prior to searching up “pit maneuver”, I thought the white car was at fault by attempting to switch lanes to the right simultaneously.
That white car seemed to disintegrate into thin air, hope they’re okay.
My husband and I drove past this maybe 45 later and saw a bunch of CHP - the family was standing on the side of the road and looked okay, but one family member was holding a young child. I can't imagine how scary that must have been for them.
and of course, no turn-signal used 🙄
Yall are the worst drivers in the world and it ain’t close.
I take that exit too 🫣
That black car was way too close to the truck in front. The truck veered to the right to avoid the obstruction in the road. There's not much traffic and no reason to ride up the ass of the vehicle in front of you.
Crow Canyon? I expect bad drivers here.
I see that most folks are seeing the Black car perform a pit maneuver but on first look it seemed the White one had tried to make the exit, behind the Tanker Truck.

I know this is the Internet but you dont have to be like that.
Wow, white car just cut all the way over to right to try to take exit? Or maybe just lost control of car?
Did you watch the same video I did? The black car changed lanes into the white car, causing the crash.
Thanks, I see it now.
