So this happened to me recently with Brown Eyed Soul. They are a R&B Korean group who do a lot of ballads and V has been very vocal about them. I discovered them when Tae did a live singing along to their music around October and recently he sang along to one of their song during he's latest vlog in Hawaï.
Safe to say that between October and now I went down a rabbit hole. They are just sooo good and their music is perfect for every occasion. It's not the first time I discover a new artist like that. I got to know Epik high thanks to the rap line but nothing compares to this.
Anyway if you want to check it out my favorite songs are "The night flow" "Blowin' my mind" "I'll move" and "My story" That last one is the one that convinced me to look them up.
The one in Tae's vlog was "Love ballad" also really nice

The Rose
I've seen them twice in concert now. Thanks, Yoongi!
OMG same! When I heard Woosung sing in Snooze, I had to Google him and started listening to his songs and The Rose!
His solo album has such dreamy tracks, too, they’re exactly my vibe. 😌
Same!! I was obsessed with his chorus in Snooze! His voice, the styling in the video, even his hand motions! Bought The Rose album and started watching Woo Sung’s YouTube interviews! Also rediscovered Ryuichi Sakamoto from Snooze too! I loved his work in The Last Emperor!
From what I'm reading they seem to have made quite the impression on ARMY ha ha
I also saw them live last summer!
I got to see them this year and was so blown away! I am kicking myself for not going last year when my friend asked me if I wanted to go. They are so incredible live 🥹😭
They tend to tour every 2 years so I have my fingers crossed we'll get to see them again soon.
I got my niece into them and she's obsessed. Took her with me to their concert in August and she said they made her teary eyed.
Thanks.. i’ll check them out. I got into The Rose after listening to a collab {Snooze} with Suga & Woosung. Soooo good
Yep same. Have since done 2 The Rose concerts and a Woosung one, and they've been comfortably in my top 5 most listened artists
Me too! Woosung's voice on Snooze really got my attention, and they write some beautiful lyrics
Same.
I am so grateful for Yoongi to introduce me to them. They are so so so so good. I am obsessed with them.
Definitely, The Rose. Also, Yijeong- El Capitxn🤣. The songs he composed for The Plave are so good.
There's also Epik High, I knew of them and listened to their songs before bangtan. But because Yoongi and Joonie were fans pre-debut, I made an effort to listen to their entire discography and pretty much became an avid fan too. I attend their concert everytime they tour.
For me Epik is kinda hit or miss. I like some of their songs on the calmer side like No different or End of the world but it's not always my style. Tablo inspires me a lot though he's a really interesting person
I hadn't listened to Epik High until All Day but I Loooove them and I've seen them in person..great concert they're so fun
I once decided to watch some performances by History, the K-pop group that El Capitxn was a part of.
I discovered Wendy, thanks to Jin. She is such an incredible singer!
Same. I recently saw her live and she blew my mind!
Colde thanks to RM. And The Rose thanks to Yoongi
Thanks.. i’ll check them out. I got into The Rose after listening to a collab {Snooze} with Suga & Woosung. Soooo good
I did really like the collab but never took the time to check them out outside of the little I already knew about them. I'll definitely give them a listen!
Obsessed, no. But they introduced me to Epik High and Balming Tiger and I love them both.
ETA, not directly discovered through BTS but Dvwn, who’s signed to HYBE subsidiary Koz, was suggested to me on YouTube and I’ve become a fan of his too, especially his song Lost, which has some Sigur Ros vibes.
Yeah Balming Tiger for me too :)
Epik High, love ‘em. I first heard Tablo on Namjoon’s All Day from his Indigo album and then Yoongi had him on Suchwita. Epik High came to my city three weeks after I watched that episode so I went and checked them out. They were so good live and have been a fan ever since. Their Epikase YouTube series is hilarious, they roast each other so hard. I’m a rap line girl and lean into their hip hop era so I guess it makes sense, lol.
Whoa, twins! I could have written this exact comment myself. XD
For me Epik is kinds hit or miss but End of the world is still on of my favorite song of all time to this day. And I also love every collab BTS has done with them especially with Tablo. Stop the rain was my number one song on Spotify this year ha ha
I really liked Tablo’s voice in RM’s song so I was like, Who is this guy? Lol. Stop the Rain was number four on my Wrapped this year, it’s such a good song.
Paul Blanco, absolutely obsessed with his voice. Closer is my favourite song of RM’s.
Same. I’m genuinely worried Spotify will be asking me if I’m ok soon the amount I’ve listened to it.
RM introduced me to Audrey Nuna, way before KPDH, and I love her style so much.
Oh, and 92914! Totally obsessed with Okinawa. Jimin used them in an Instagram post and that was it.
Dijon. I became totally obsessed with “The Dress” after V (again) first played it. I know some of the other members have also promoted some of his recent tracks on Spotify too
Me tooooo
K-pop lol, the Rose, One Ok Rock!! I’m now obsessed with One Ok Rock.
Jackson Wang. I am not totally obsessed but I like the guy and recently started to listen to his last album.
Namjoon did a collab with younha (winter flower) and I listen to her songs regularly ever since :)
Balming Tiger and soohyoon!!! 🍀
Actually I’ve been shocked to see how many lesser known artists BTS members know! Especially RM and V! Like how?!!
Some were obscure artists across various genres before they blew up, a few examples being Omar Apollo, Laufey, Kelela,Turnstile, and Title Fight.
Another example of this, I first found out about Sombr from Hobi listening to him in his live. It was another couple of months before he really started blowing up in the mainstream.
Just from the amount of time they've collaborated on random song with an artist that is now blowing up it's crazy. Today I discovered that BTS has a song with Zara Larsson how random is that. But jokes appart they are not kidding when they say they take music seriously.
Never wanted to listen to frank ocean but RM and V made me listen to him and he is my favourite artist Thanks
Same!
Woosung, and his group The Rose. Truly amazing. I see many already mentioned them below.
Gallant because of their interactions with him and their crowd reactions when he performed at MAMA 2016. I listened to his album Ology nonstop for a year straight because of them.
Jon Batiste is another great artist, I saved a few songs from the World Music Radio album because I saw fans posting about Tae's interactions with him.
RM's collab with Soyoon on Smoke Sprite (so underrated) made me check out her Episode1: Love album, "Bad" and the Joon collab were the best songs there.
I love Soyoon! Both her solo stuff and Se so neon are so good. Been listening to the new se so neon record a ton this year
I re-descovered Halsey, but descovered Max and The rose,
Colde. Dijon(who is Chamorro!), So!YoON!
I love their music, but being a comfort listener, BTS is still dominating my music at the moment.
TXT, IU, Eric Nam, DeVita
I discovered Audrey Nuna because JK shared her song "Space" on Instagram a few years ago. It's so cool that she's blowing up right now thanks to KPop Demon Hunters!
I'm the same as you OP! I got introduced to Brown Eyed Soul during that Tae live and have been in love with some of their songs. My favourites are: If it's the same, promise you, and Is It the Wind? Their vocals are sooo goooood
little simz!
I discovered all of kpop thanks to BTS 🤣
But more seriously, I’d say Taeyang thanks to his collab song with Jimin! I quite like his music! Not obsessed, but def a casual fan.
Sister's Barbershop and Silica Gel. Joon has mentioned them both on Instagram, and is friends with the members of Silica Gel. They're both such great bands with amazing music.
Try out Brown Eyes, Two Things Needed… album! One of my favorite albums growing up and had everyone singing gajima gajima the title song. Naeul from brown eyed soul, was in brown eyes first
Thanks for the recommendation I will definitely check it out !
I'd like to thank Joon for introducing me to se so neon and therefore this beautiful woman as well

Seventeen. Not sure when or how since so many BTS members talk about SVT. But I decided to just listen 1-2 song by SVT randomly, and I remember kinda liking the music. But I started watching their content specifically, and SVT members are insane, but hilarious and again INSANE. So I became a huge fan and started exploring their discography and ended up loving their music too.
Aahhaha This was my journey too! The content that got me was the Nana/Game Caterers shows! Then I watched a bunch of Going Seventeen. They are so chaotic!
Hahah I think the first content I properly watched was Hybe Game Caterers and SVT was the highlight for me. Then I discovered Going Seventeen. And I just fell in love with the personalities. Started watching performance videos and realised they’re amazing performers too. And now here I am and I even went to their concert!
eAeon, Balming Tiger
Epik High, Honne, Se So Neon, Balming Tiger, aeon, Silica Gel
I’ve been really into Silica Gel courtesy of RM.
Epik High
I literally love and am obsessed with Epik High's music they are really close to being my ult but BTS takes the spot
TXT and now The Rose too. I'm VERY obsessed with TXT. I was deep in BTS content and watched the Hybe Family photo shoot with Lee Hyun, TXT & BTS. I listened to lovesong and run away and I was completely hooked.
Really like Woodz’s song I’ll never love again when JK sang it on a live. And saw comments from other Army that they were there (at Woodz music video) because of JK.
Umi and Seventeen
Shinee, Taemin, Ha Sunghwon, EXO.
Thanks Jimin.
Hello fellow Armywol!
Wouldn't have found 'Outsider' without Jin.
maybe not obsessed but i discovered beabadoobee back in 2020 because of Tae and I really like her music💁♀️
Sasha Sloan. Hobi played some of Sasha’s songs during his dance practice lives and I became a fan!
My girl Seori thanks to Jungkook! I wish she had more music, or better management because she is so talented!
Thanks to Jin, who introduced Beomgyu, Taehyun and Yeonjun I have fallen (still falling) in the TXT rabbit hole.
ME TOO! See you at the bottom!
Laufey because of Tae! She's one of my most listened to artists in the past 2 years.
Keshi because of RM!
070 Shake. Right up my alley. I think it was a recommendation from RM.
I’m not entirely sure if it’s true but zerobaseone!! I’m not sure which member it was but one of them danced for bts themselves ( correct me if I’m wrong) but I’ve been a casual listener since and they’re amazing same thing with stray kids member lee know but I’ve been a stay since 2020 it’s been a fun ride!!
For me it was Lee Seung Yoon 🎶🎧🌶️ Who covered "Microcosm" on the show "Sing Again" - Episode 11 - a JTBC, broadcast on February 1, 2021.
I love his music. I bought all his albums.
Not obsessed, but very much enjoying the music of Epik High, Balming Tiger, NELL, HYUKOH, Sunset Roller Coaster, Younha, Silica Gel, The Rose, Eric Nam, eAeon (and side project Night Off), Kim Kwang-seok, Brown Eyed Soul, UMI, IU, John Eun, Park Hyo-Shin, Park Ji-yoon, Hwang So-yoon. I've also been enjoying YT content from Epik High and The Rose this past year.
Our seven have made some great recs over the years, and had some very cool collabs that have led me down multiple minor rabbit holes.
Not obsessed but discovering Rina Sawayama through RM was very cool!!
Jimin got me into Alec Benjamin in 2019! He has a very solid discography. I always think of Jimin when I listen to Alec, so that's nice :) I love when they recommend their favorite songs to us.
which song of alec's did jimin recommend??
Jimin recommended: "if we have each other", "let me down slowly", and "water fountain"
These are good ones to start with, and I also love "must've been the wind"
Jimin loves Alec's voice, and he also loves Halsey's voice, and I feel like those artists kind of have a similar vocal tone. Alec's voice is ok, but I mostly like his music for his storytelling and melodies.
i'm already familiar with alec's (and halsey's) music and love it, too. i just wanted to know which song jimin recommended exactly. thanku :)
Tinashe, Paul Blanco, Little Simz, Balming Tiger
Namjoon did two collabs with Colde, and I really enjoy the vibes of his music, both solo and when he was in On/Off. Also I checked out the label Colde started, Wavy, and was introduced to the band Wave to Earth. Lots of really chill vibes. Both acts make me wish I knew Korean because I am pants at finding English translations of lyrics and I really want to know what they're singing about lol.
Okay, this might be a bit left-field, but I discovered Asoto Union through j-hope! A few of their songs were featured in his ‘hope on the street’ docu-series, and I totally get it because their songs are so easy to groove to! They weren’t active very long (2002-2005) and only have one album, but I love their funky, jazzy sound.
Jamiroquai is another artist that I discovered through j-hope. Hobi used the song ‘If I like it, I do it’ on an instagram story last spring and I loved their sound too and needed to hear more! Lots of dance tracks! Love Foolosophy and Virtual Insanity are some of my favourites!
Listening to these artists never fails to put me in a good mood! Thanks Hobi! ☀️
Heize! I love We Don't Talk Together (it is produced by Suga and EL CAPITXN)
Then when I dived into her discography, it's full of diamonds
eAeon. I wouldn’t say I’m obsessed. But I do love his music and Fragile is one of my go to albums whenever I’m in my feels or anxious or it’s been a tough day and I want something chill.
