Viennese Turk here. The best way to learn "Yugoslavian" here is to just going to the metro and listening to the next best phone call

    What about Turkish?

What about hookah. Are the Turks well integrated in Vienna?

    parent root
    14 points thenogger

    It’s called Shisha here.

Define well integrated, they are definitely more far more integrated than Arabs.

    parent root
    3 points Archaeopteryx111

But that’s a low bar, buddy. Do they live in segregated communities and are they very religious?

    parent root
    12 points thenogger

Segregated no, they do have higher concentrations in certain areas but so does every group. If you go to certain area you will see more Romanians and in other areas more Turks, etc. that type of shit. Usually the parents are religious but that depends on the generation of the parents since third and even fourth generation Turks live in Austria.

You do have the typical diaspora "my home country is better" mfs though, they do exist.

    parent root
    1 points Archaeopteryx111

I’ve often wondered whether the third or fourth generation of Turks in Germany/Austria even speak Turkish well.

    parent root
    9 points thenogger

Some do and some don’t but most have an accent when speaking Turkish they also tend to use German phrases like "scheiße" more. I think a Turk from Turkey can definitely spot the difference. You certainly know what I mean, you must have the same situation with diaspora Romanians, right? These are by personal experience so don’t take everything I say as the truth.

    parent root
    7 points Archaeopteryx111

Yes, I am a diaspora Romanian and people can tell that I’m from the diaspora when I speak to them in Romanian.

    What's "srf"?

If you mean serb... As a croat even I can say this blame game really has to stop some day.

As a romanian that's the sole reason I sit on an ironic balkan racist sub. If I want to be "apologetic" and "understanding" i'd go on some west*id crap subreddit to pretend to be """funny"""

Yea sure... I mean everyone is free to be a bit of racist I guess, cigan.

Check this meme I made by myself a while ago. You'll have a laugh. Haha. What a hypocrite I am.

I really wonder why they all move to Germany when Romania is such a nice and humorous place to live.

    parent
    8 points MartinBP

They're not settled, they only have a temporary right to remain as refugees through the EU mechanism.

    parent root
    7 points martodve

Shouldn't the same apply to Syria then? I'm genuinely confused.

    parent root
    6 points Furthur_slimeking

After being granted asylum there is an initial limited right to remain which is later reviewed. Ukranians are granted humanitarian asylum under these conditions at the moment.

If it's determined that a person will face persecution or some other kind of specific targetted risk if they return to their home country, they can be granted refugee status. This gives them permanent right to remain, and this is what many Syrians would have been given because of the situation there.
